Somewhere on one of the several Venture sites exist a write up on slavaging the chrome bell reducers from the stock pipes and using them on the Road King slipons. I did and it looks very nice and you use the stock HD clamps because they are hidden under the bell reducer. It does distroy the stock pipes but they are worth very little anyway. I also suggest you get the one inch hole saw with the extra long shank and drill out the center baffel on the HD pipes. Sounds better at idle and but still quite while cruising.

Stebel Horn reposition

Why would you want to put it there? It works and looks perfect in the right side stock location using a custom bracket avalible here on this site. -
Windshield?????? what and where
2WHEELSFORME replied to ventureblue's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have used the tall Yamaha, the low Yamaha and the medium Show Chrome. I prefer the low Yamaha but I do like to look over and not thru. I also think the low one looks the best on the bike.- 25 replies

Man I love this CT on my VTX. Several thousand miles and no noticable wear. Corners just fine as far as this bike will lean over. Would not put one on a sport bike but works fine for fat cruisers and fat touring bikes. Yea I know some of you are racers and really push these bikes and you need the high performance stuff to keep up with your skill level. http://bigbikeriders.com/photopost/data/500/2508tire_and_tag_4_.JPG

I will no longer offer my OP on this forum. It appears one or two big mouths who have something and a lot to say about every subject will drown out real experiance. Because I acually am using a car tire, I am now, not a long or far rider, don't know about bike handling and just plain dumb!
-
The world is flat and if you sail too far out to sea you will fall off the edge. Glad everyone did not believe that! LOL Reviewing the use of CTs on motorcycles should be left to those who have tried it. And stateing that someone who uses one does not ride far or hard is speaking without knowlage. Funny how riders of fat slow touring bikes like to think they are performance riders. My two cruisers do not need the high performance tires that many other type bikes require. You know, bikes that will lean over without scraping a floorboard. Hell even I am a fat, slow, low performance person.

I could not find the correct size for my Venture but I do run a CT on my VTX. Cost was $45 vers the $175 for the motorcycle tire and tread life is also doubled. The tire rides fine and will corner over until the floorboards scrape so guess that is good enough. Straight line traction is vastly improved and I like the looks. More than just a few are doing it espc Valkerys and VTXs and I have heard of none having problems yet with hundreds of thousands of miles logged. http://bigbikeriders.com/photopost/data/500/2508tire_and_tag_4_.JPG

Diamond Accessories or Utopia?
2WHEELSFORME replied to Ferrantelli's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
The Utopia can be removed without removing the seat. It leaves the mounting bracket where it can be seen flush between the seats but it is not in the way.- 11 replies

OK I used the back of the lighter because it was easy. I just unpluged the plastic connector, stuck the Zumo wires into the female side of the plug and plugged it back together pinching the new wires inside the plastic plug. My only worry now is the fuse is under the fairing making it diffucult to replace if it blows.

Two questions. Switched or unswitched, your preferance? Is a power supply found in the front fairing or do I have to go all the way to the battery?

Never heard of wax melting and it gets hot down here. Ice works ok and leaves no white stuff but does take more buffing to get the streaks out. Pledge, yes it looks great but leaves a film that causes dust to stick so the beauty is short lived. Mothers FX is my choice with Honda Bright for spot cleaning between waxes.

I sure could use a new controller as mine is cracked and the mount holes are gone. Too expensive from Momma Yamma so if anyone knows of a wrecked 2nd gen please let me know.

I used two tag lights from an Auto Parts place, chrome and tough. Easy to wire from a fused line to the battery and thru a switch inside the trunk. LEDs won't run the battery down even if you leave it on overnight.

New Owner - Best and most critical mods?
2WHEELSFORME replied to jimtxas's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I got the Utopia and it is just so big and the support is higher than I like. I have an Ultimate on my VTX, much smaller and hits my lower back better. Wish they made stuff for the Venture. It is also in the way when slinging a leg over and it crowds the passenger. The velcro zippered pouch on the back of it is nice. -

That 1st gen crap sure gets old. Notice this is a 2nd gen tech forum. Most important first thing to do for me was a lower windshield then raise the handle bars. A SOMA rear undertrunk light is a good addition. I got the back rest but not sure I really like it. Did the leveling links not sure I like that either. Also added a tank bib, inside trunk lights, foam grips, Life Saver rear brake damper, hiway pegs, Stebel horn, cup holder, shorty antenna, MP3 player and a GPS. Think safety and comfort before chrome do dads. -
If you look at the library for 2nd gen installing RK muffs you will find it.
-
You can use the existing clamps if you use this method for installation: http://www.venturers.org/Tech_Library/index.php?action=article&cat_id=002009&id=195

You don't need them if you salvage the chrome bell reducer from the stock pipes. A little more trouble and it ruins the stock pipes but looks much better I think.

leveling link options
2WHEELSFORME replied to sleadhed's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Lowering the front end will reduce your lean angle ability and cause to the front crash bars to drag sooner than the already too soon stock positon. -
I've had Rinehearts before on a 99 Venture and now have drilled RKs on my 05. The Rinehearts sounded very nice and is much preferred over stock or RKs. The Bub chrome tips do tend to corrode but black tips can be purchased. I use the RKs now beause they were free and the sound is much better than stock.

This is for a VTX but fits the right side of a 2nd Gen just fine. Covers up the hex nut. http://hondadirectlineusa.com/stores/product.asp?pid=924&str=11&ID=462367597

I've been using white lithium grease on three bikes for over 80k miles and it is always still present when I put on new rubber.
