I just ordered the 40171 from the aircraft place. From what I have read it is the only one with the shut off that is needed so you don't have to turn your petcock off every time you stop. Hoping it will work. Have two stock ones to fail already in 80K the first one replaced under warrenty.

The area around Gatlinburg is filled with cars. I much prefer the south side of the Smokies. North and South of Ashville is great roads and little traffic. Google "Ride America maps" Expensive but very nice.

On my VTX-1800 I have "UR2SLO"

Florida does not require going to a range to get a CC. Not a shot fired to get mine this year. http://licgweb.doacs.state.fl.us/firearms/acceptable_training_documentation.html

If Motorcycle Superstore has the Dunny 404 in a 140/90-16 for $113.99 how is $132 half price?

Not for me either due to looks and the 300 bucks!

11000 feet is three times are high? At 6,643 feet, Clingmans Dome is the highest point in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It is the highest point in Tennessee, and the third highest mountain east of the Mississippi.

I use soft straps across the top of the upper triple trees then strapped forward and out to the trailer corners. A snug amount of compression. Front wheel locked or strapped into a chock and the bike is going nowhere. You may wish to also insure the rear does not move around but I've never needed straps in the rear and don't think you will unless you hit something causing a sudden stop. I do not have safety hooks on my straps so I use duct tape to make sure the hooks do not come unhooked if the straps become relaxed during a bump. Stop after a short drive to insure tension on straps. Also tie or tape your loose ends so they do not flap around causing wear damage to paint etc.

Cornering with the Baron 4-2-4 slip-ons
2WHEELSFORME replied to Wendell's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
No problems but I have installed the leveling links so it sits a bit higher. I also put some extensions on the pipes and the set bolt that holds them on will touch a little but it's not a problem. Except for flatting out the screw head so you need channel locks to remove. -
Are RSVs rare in other places? I see them several times a week here. Brings me to think southerners purchase more touring bikes that have full weather protection than they do up north. Maybe because we ride year round rather than storing our bikes in the winter?

Oil - preference and recommendations
2WHEELSFORME replied to pa_don's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
You are changing because ???????????! All oil is very good! syn, dino, car oil no mater just change it per the manuals suggested mileage. Might stay away from friction mods but even that won't make a good clutch slip. No one ever, that I know of has had a problem due to the type oil they use. "I use _______ and have never had a problem so it must be the best. Insert your brand in blank space. Besides: http://fineartbymary.com/smilies/horse2.gif http://fineartbymary.com/smilies/horse2.gif http://fineartbymary.com/smilies/horse2.gif http://fineartbymary.com/smilies/horse2.gif Sorry it sounds meaner than I meant for it to but just making fun of all the GREAT OIL DEBATES. -
Switching to Synthetic
2WHEELSFORME replied to Ventureless's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
If it ain't broke why fix it? -
Incorrectly making an Obama slam turns your motorcycle post into a potilical rant.
-
Also be aware that lots of people hate them.
-
VTX, Venture? Same rules for both. Except VTX will accept a wider rear without mods.

I'm thinking that two horns will draw enough power from the battery at one time that neither horn will be as loud as a single horn getting all the power alone.

Keep the venture or move on??? Please give honest feedback...

I experianced some neck/back pain and replaced the bars with the Flanders and new braided lines. More pull back now and problem gone. -
A lot more bragging about venturerider over there than just sharing info. This even after the Owner asked everyone to not do it. Some people just like to stir the pot. and others get thier panties in a wad to easy.

After looking close at a 1st gen with fixed fairing and a 2nd gen with fork fairing I can only deduce that fixed fairings are really ugly.

I'm going to try a set of the Pirelli MT 66 tires. I've run several set of Mets and Avons and have no complaints with handling or feel I just don't get the mileage I think I should. I wanted to try the Elete 3s but at 73% of the cost I'll try the Pirellis. Mets and Avons were even higher. With both of those haveing problems with spliting and seperating for some users I see no reason to pay the higher price. My pet peave with Avons is the way the tread is on the center of the rear tire, it goes from tread to thread in the blink of an eye. Found the MTs locally for $222 a set plus tax and they will mount off the bike for 25 bucks each. Can't get that mounting price if using the internet. Computer balancing is also a must and not all places use it. Not interested in the magic beads so many use. Hopeing they do not sing, wobble, cup, pull, seperate, bubble, bounce, skid too much or wear out in less than 5 thousand miles.

I'm using Citi also. Going from a 7.5% to a 4.25% 30 year. And this is on an investment house. But I will have to say Suntrust is trying also. They are refiniancing an upside down loan without an appraisal changing the rate from 6.5 to 4.2 although they do have closing cost they are rolling it in. Anyway changing a payment higher than my rent to making it a positive cash flow is a good thing. And as said the loan is much higher than the worth. Not walking away from a negitive loan to value is not an option for me. The program with both companies is the Home Affordable Refinance Program (HARP)

And XP is more complicated than Windows 98. Learn it, it is a good thing.

You are wrong! I have done it prob 25 times alone and all have been safe and easy and with large bikes. Venture, VTX 1800 and Volusia. The angle is not so steep that the wood has a traction problem, front brake works just fine. Trailer not as high as a pick up truck but much higher than that cargo trailer in the previous pics.

I used a 2x10 eight foot long. Beveled the ground edge and put a alum adapter on the other end that connects to the bed of the trailer just right. I do not ride it up but rather motor it up while walking beside it. A the trailer you just have to step up to the bed to continue. Cheap and has been working good on several diff bikes for years. No problem with bottoming out.
