Maybe, Just Maybe!
2WHEELSFORME replied to grubsie's topic in Star Venture and Eluder Tech Talk ( '18 - Present)
I would love to see a luxury touring bike from Yamaha. I afraid that adding a built in GPS that performs poorly compared to Garmin units and an unneeded reverse will push the price up too much. Lack of antilock brakes would also be a mistake in my opinion. -
05 Venture. Years ago at about 40K I replaced my stock clutch with aftermarket. I think I remember it using more springs rather than the one in the middle found on the stock unit. I do not remember which I used, Barnett, EBC or something else. Now at 120K I'm starting to slip again. Trouble is I do not know what brand I used before. I'm thinking plates and springs to be replaced. I don't remember anything about a half disk from years ago. If I open it up can I tell which ones I need to order? Will either brand work? Down time is not a worry. Comments welcome.

Battery is toast

This is a good one. https://www.amazon.com/Yuasa-YUAM620BH-YTX20HL-BS-Battery/dp/B000MX2ORM/ref=au_as_r?_encoding=UTF8&Make=Yamaha%7C1210&Model=XVZ1300TFM%20Royal%20Star%20Midnight%20Venture%7C20649&Year=2005%7C2005&ie=UTF8&n=15684181&s=automotive&vehicleId=3&vehicleType=motorcycle -
Oh yes they have cruise now. Did not at first but my 15 has it stock from Honda. Passenger seat is much bigger than most bikes and I seldom need one at all. Plenty of 16s sold almost anywhere Hondas are sold, just take a look at E-bay, Cycle Trader etc. Maybe your dealer guy does not know so much and gave you some bad info. Remember I do still have my 05 RSV so if I miss anything I can scratch the itch. Looking forward to seeing what the GW has on the new generation, I hear it might include new front forks without shocks inside. Not being all that popular with the general public is what makes getting one a bargain somewhat like the RSV. Lots of people do not realize what a comfortable bike the Venture is or what a great handling bike the F6B is.

With 118K on my 05 Midnight I felt I needed something newer so to be more reliable for out of town trips alone. Love my 2nd gen but found something the 3rd gen needs to be. More cylinders more CCs, more HP, faster, better braking, better handling, stiffer frame, better gas mileage, better creature comforts, better wind protection, and more. Rather than a Yammi 3rd gen it is made by Honda and is called a F6B. Amazing bike, like a sport bike for large people. Still have the RSV and will keep it as a great back up bike. Always like the Gold Wings but I'm big so felt cramped with that huge back seat and trunk. The F6B has neither and much more room for the rider.

Facet fuel pump install
2WHEELSFORME replied to Mad Dog's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I put mine in the same spot but could only use one bolt instead of two. It also required a few small pipe fittings to turn the in or out (can't remember witch) into the direction needed. I think it was like two 1/8 inch street ells and maybe a nipple and hose to pipe connector or two. Going on memory the stock unit in and out were side by side and the F was on opposite sides requiring the small pipe fitting but yes it did mount in the same spot. -
That is a very generous offer, thank you. Yes it is built but has to be updated often. I was also hoping I could at some time get it to sort by any column. Now it is sorted numerically by the member number one column only. Hard to find someone by name if you don't know the number. I have the Open Office on my computer and hopefully will get access to the website soon. Then to learn to use it.

I got it now just have to figure out how to use it. Thank you. Mike

I need to keep a list of Members in a riding club. Down the left side and across the top would be names, member number, last ride date, miles ridden this year and total etc. Along the bottom the totals of the above numbers by column and the same to the right, ride miles would add up automatically. I think it is currently being maintained with Excel which I think is overkill and I do not want to purchase Excel. I see many free spreadsheets offered on line even a limited version of Excel itself. Does anyone have a recommendation for what I might need. Type slow I'm not a computer guy.

I remove the right side bag only. Not the muff and not the left side bag and for sure not the left muff. Do be sure to remove the hub from wheel and grease the splines. Supporting the front wheel is good advice. Now if your axel was not lubed the last time it was out you may have difficulty getting it to slide with ease.

Enjoyed the pic Kretz. Had a small cold blast the other night down into the upper 30s, got to have a fire in the fire place. Supposed to be in the mid 70s today. That white is beautiful, not sure I would want to be in it for to many days in a row.

Me thinks you Canucks and those close to the Northern border do not really know too much about North Florida, this in NOT the Keys. Yes it gets cold here, even freezes often in the winter. Seldom snows but I do have heated gear on my bike and it is needed for year round riding. Believe me it is a damp wet cold when it comes in that makes even the 40s miserable. This is an eventfully warm winter so far and I like having to run my AC in December as well as wearing shorts to put up Christmas lights on the house. Come on down if the tundra is too much, plenty of jobs and affordable housing with low cost of living and low crime rates. Motorcycles are everywhere anytime the sun is shinning. Merry Christmas!

This week I have mowed the yard, took a bike ride in a t-shirt and jeans and put up the Christmas decorations. Not things I consider normal things to do together on the same weekend.

Noisy things at campsites that many people do not like: Yapping dogs, screaming kids, loud motorcycles, running generators and my pet peeve, people who think you want to listen to their choice of music.

got a road trip coming up, anyone live along this line
2WHEELSFORME replied to Brake Pad's topic in Watering Hole
I'm in Gulf Breeze not Milton. Just thinking Hwy 98 is much better than 90 in my opinion. -

At Freeport you really should take a left instead of that right and run along the beach then up to Milton. -
After two stock failures I went with the Facet. Only required a few small pipe fittings to turn one of the outlet/inlets so that both were pointing the same direction. Thousands now and no failures and no need to turn petcock off.

Key on for 2 weeks
2WHEELSFORME replied to 2WHEELSFORME's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Thanks for both replies. All is well now and it is charging, I got dash lights and the starter turns. The problem was it was so dead it would not take a boost so now on slow charge and will give it 24 plus hours and I think all will be well. Also helped that I ordered a new $90 battery off Amazon. Now I will just store it without acid and have a spare. My VTX uses the same battery so I'm sure it will not go to waste. Again thanks Bongoboby and Jamsie. -
05 Venture, high miles, OK so got in from a trip and used my other bike for while and yesterday discovered I had left the key on. Of course the just under two year old Oddesy is drained. Tried a boost and a slow charge and nothing, no light at the dash and no cranky. I suspect the battery is dead and will not accept a charge and I will replace ASAP. Just wonderings if other damage might be done. Thoughts?

HARP is the way to go. Governmental program to help people stay in a home that may have been financed at too high an interest rate or even upside down in LTV. The two I've done did not even require an appraisal.

3rd Dead Fuel, installing Mr Gasket 42 S
2WHEELSFORME replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I don't understand why anyone would use the Mr Gasket when this other one has the fuel shutoff and is inexpensive. http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/eppages/facetpumps.php?clickkey=50245 -
brake disk chrome covers

Mine is just like yours so I think that is correct. -
Wow a new compression washer. Must save that item. They are reusable you know if you don't have another one or they are too texpensive where you live. Crack the drain bolt let a little our and retighten. You'll never know the difference. Very important not to run with it over filled.
