I kept the orifice small like 1/8 so just enough oil flows WHEN i machined the OIL pressure outlet bolt! it equals the brake line inner diameter pretty close! and I am happy with it it doesn't leak with fastener glue too top and bottom I HAVE another plan maybe I will implement soon???
-
YES I have done exactly that RUN a line from the pressure gauge outlet up around the back to just over the clutch gear drilled and tapped a hole there and used custm adjustable braided brake cable to do it IT is 70% quieter and gets better over time
-
hi yes very happy so much quieter I even replaced the whole audio system and can hear it NOW It gets lots of oil on the valves i CHECKED ALL GOOD BUT i TEND TO REV HIGH TO MAKE SURE, EVERY SO OFTEN ON A RIDE ALL GOOD yes ! THE INLET IS 3/16 TH AND SAME WITH THE OUTLET BOLT WHICH I MADE The mystery is solved after buying a 500 I basket boondoggle blech OH well smooth sailing from here
-
HI yes I have designed an outside line from a brake line and banjo bolts from the oil pressure outlet to above the clutch drilled a hole and it sprays on the clutch gears /main drive with custom machined bolts=ME lol I noticed if I leaned the bike over to the right and the oil saturated the clutch and I started it like that for 1 hr 35% less noise so WHINE ????? was always from a dry clutch gear all along it is splash fed and the web from the engine is two high for some years I have had excellent success but wrapped my braided lines with aluminum tape two layers just to make sure the exhaust heat is no probe so good luck

Canada to Cancun on the 250$ Venture - The full ride report

Well the colddeest I have ridden is 1 degrees:yikes: on sunny day in Orangeville ,ON and 5 degrees in Otttawa! im in Ottawa Now and the weather sucks, I did not Know you can Ride in sub freezing temps ? DON"T you need a heated garage to keep oil fluid before starting wow amazing I have snowmobile coat and pants that mostly work, so not that cold and my hands never get cold anyways HMM Bravveee, wild and Nutso but so COOL, congrats and good luck, be safe safe have great holiday. go First geny wow. I always wear a hoodie under my helmet to keep the cold off my neck, really helps by the way I have nice trailer I just toot down to whearever NC smokey mountains daytona and Sedona arizona in my Highlander nice and cozy both ways IT seems the smart way for me pull over and poof out for three hrs back into truck stop and chowed down off for another 400 k any ways wow Awsome -
YES thought a lot about it the the whole pressure thing:detective: the line is around 1/8th diameter and 17 inches long the hole in bolt is less then 1/8 to make sure 3/32 so I have noticed no new noise on valves! I have ears like bat SO this WHole job was Absolutely necessary OR new Bike poof that's IT NOW it's smooth like turbine/porche sort of AWESOME quiet and smooooth NICE. :witch_brew:THE whole problem stems from two things the web in the motor where the drive gear is ,is two high so there is not enough splash on this Bloody Clutch Main GEAR THIS is an OIL splash motor as opposed to a high pressure OIL line feed motor anyway I almost drilled a feed hole THERE by the main drive to have more splash on the clutch gear too BUT didn't like the IDEA somehow THIS bike motor was designed to be upright ona center stand when stationary which would bathe the lower part of the clutch at rest! but in current configuration It's leaned way over to lthe left so no oil on clutch IT"S( the oill) is all in the gear casing I have experimented with a right lean stand so that the clutch was resting right and bathing clutch at rest and it was way quieter for an hr of driving THAT"S when I realised this was a nearly dry running clutch and so noisier then need be! I hate the stupid sound of the DUCATI's clutch for instance
-
hi I did actually but it still seemed like it would be better off insulated since in two places it was 2 inches near the exhaust and its not just stainless braid it is plastic coated and you see th braid underneath rubber inside sooo just to be on the safe side and the bolt is now protected too to prevent leakage Thanks for the question and I didn't want the exhaust to heat the oil up inside

YES I Finally achieved the seeming impossible 70% quieter clutch whine I did IT OVER THE LONG winter I PUT in an outside oil line too Using the allen key bolt/cap covering the pressure gauge which i drilled out to half inch bolt size and threaded it ! THEN drilled and threaded the half inch bolt for a 10 mm brake line and ran the line round the back and into the top of the clutch housing right above and directly onto the clutch gears IT works perfectly and is 70% more quiet Just barely noticeable with MY BAT ears lollol YEAAA congrats to me No more whine AHHHHHHH yes thanks for reading I use do it yourself brake line parts to deal with 90 degrees difference outlet to inlet I wrapped it in aluminum tape 3 layers to get rid of any exhaust heat too and painted the aluminum black HI bud thanks for your glowing words yr a good buddy! there is not a lot of pressure so flow is better word and it really really helps
-
thanks I wrapped it in aluminum tape 3 layers to get rid of any exhaust heat too

i'll damn well send the pics for sht sakes NO prob I even had TO WRAP the line in aluminum tape to dodge the heat from exhaust WILD I know Hey JUST because something is so far beyond yr limited capabilities lol just kidding YOU shldn't doubt someones fierce and perhaps crazy dedication lol all the best just kidding but I'll send the pics take a few days I'm not home you'll see sincerely Russ

hi cant find the airline air tubes still looking how about break cable and banjo bolts with stainless cover and maybe at the back of the case under the exhaust still on top but solid case there how large diameter for banjo hole do you think thanks Russ
-
I will try to find a solid place without that flange/ gap I think thoo BUUUTTT what is the size of the oil outlet from the bike what MM 17 for the oil gauge pls???? ?? Thanks cant wait to try this awesome IDEA ahhh SILENCE-ISH BTW I have built a side stand to lean it over on the right soaking the clutch before a ride and it helps a lot but this is the better idea by far OIL feed yes!!!

HI I would appreciate any help possible in installing the gauge or extra line to feed the clutch gear I have proved absolutely its lack of oil making a weird situation (cutch whine) worser I have now carved some micro oil divets in the gear drive and clutch gear and when oiled is 50 % better just need oil YESSSSSS OH give me OIL gauge where the buffalo roam and clutches are silent all day soft and quiet on the range where the royal stars and tour deluxes play:fingers-crossed-emo whineee TAMED 25% better YESssss I have an 08 royal star and I put in a I basket last year it helped a bit !!!! I noticed that on the side stand while changing gears there is no oil in clutch chamber!!!!!! HI the MAIN DRIVE GEAR SITS DRYYYYYY all the time on the side stand HMMMMMMMMM:detective: I Now stand the bike up vertical when home. it coats the gears in a bath of oil which flows passively into the clutch chamber=I USE a combo of lucAs OIL 20/50 AND MOTOR kote also lucas oil additive helps with the noise too best yet! tried it for a week now well see if its accumulative:cool10: I TRIED it leaned over on side stand again for two days and loud WHIiiine was back there isn't enough oil on that gear while driving really BUT if it is soaked it sticks which is lucas oil specialty so stand er up pour in your engine kote let it sit for day and 25% quieter try er out boys good luck THERE is in fact a center stand available from Rivco:080402gudl_prv: http://www.rivcoproducts.com/products/product.php?productid=60&cat=202&page=1 now for windshield pouches to tone down reflective noise HAS any body tried that?????

I tried a vmax basket in this :detective:it was an 85 same exact still whined worse chirped too:no-no-no: lolol :rotf:the old ones/first gen oiled the clutch gear better somehow differently the oil is in a bath as the piston crank spins in it with a tub wall separating the clutch chamber and the drive gear throws it up over this wall perhaps its too high on the new ones so the clutch ONLY gets a mist it needs a stream so I put in the MAX oil possible NOW:cool10:I NOW have a block/prop against foot peg that allows me to lean over the right side and the oil that sits in gear chamber flows in the clutch then I start it up while leaned right it coats the clutch and chamber for about 45 min clutch is quiet before the muted sound gets somewhat loudish again:cool10: over all 25% better:backinmyday: ANYWAYS its clear they have decided to run it as a largely dryISH clutch and it whines we must get more oil on that clutch gear in there SOMEHOW I WILL solver this soon GOOD LUCK bro:080402gudl_prv:

i basket helped a bit only I'm not impressed ORRRR they sold me an h or g in a I basket box I didn't know where the friggin I basket stamp was just put it in for 500 dollars im checking this week so 2 years on the I basket bud FURTHER some of this problem may have to do with the 170 rear tire I put on too reduce wear get two years out of em BUT I can see perhaps this stresses the drive line in 5th IF THE OUSIDE DIAMETER IS LARGER THEN A 150 WILL CHECK etc too much hooo boy complicated stuff deduce this fom the fellow's comments after putting in a vmax rear end and the whine going away so easing the compression tension from rear end up using lower gearing is easier to turn just needs more rpms soooooo next change will be for 150 again tire in rear and maybe even a lowest profile one available HMMMMMMMMM the whine never ends but I love th bike otherwise so I will keep you posted on the 2 other experiments im planning yessss cheers russ :detective:thanks

Gear Whine-Final Result-25 percent better.

whineee TAMED 25% better YESssss I have an 08 royal star and I put in a I basket last year it helped a bit !!!! NOT impressed really I studied 5 different engineering aticles on the cause of straight cut gear whine and the solutions! I noticed that on the side stand while changing clutch there is little or no oil in clutch chamber!!!!!! the MAIN DRIVE GEAR SITS DRYYYYYY all the time on the side stand HMMMMMMMMM:detective: I Now stand the bike up vertical when home. it coats the gears in a bath of oil which flows passively into the clutch chamber=I USE a combo of lucAs OIL 20/50 AND MOTOR kote also lucas oil additive helps with the noise too best yet! tried it for a week now we'll see if its accumulative over the month COST IS "0" nice:cool10: I TRIED it leaned over on side stand again for two days and loud WHIiiine was back it drains to the left and there isn't enough oil spraying on that gear while driving really it's just a fog! I TRIED A NEW EXPERIMENT YESTERDAY I leaned it over too the right a bit more from vertical too fully immerse the clutch main gear then started it WOW the QUiET was deafening when I drove away for 45 minutes it remained greatly muted and then it came back a bit!!!! WILD OH IT iS THE CLUTCH GEAR ON LOAD I AM SURE OF IT'S positively PROVED I lean mine over on a plastic tool box sweet THE other day before starting I waited till vertical just leaned it over a bit with my legs as support started it and the muffling effect returned NICE BUT if it is soaked it sticks which is lucas oil specialty so stand er up pour in your engine kote let it sit for day and 25% quieter try er out boys good luck THERE is in fact a center stand available from Rivco:080402gudl_prv: http://www.rivcoproducts.com/products/product.php?productid=60&cat=202&page=1 now for windshield pouches to tone down reflective noise HAS any body tried that????? BTW the experiment of covering the the clutch gear with plastic and running it ??? MY clutch only wines under load and acceleration???? -
hi thought a lot about it WHY these gears are so loud ONE reason IS the large gear is like a bell with the clutch housing attached Secondly if the Gears are miss aligned so it only touches on the side so I am thinking of dremeling a better face I will try that hatch pattern BUT why not bullseye two circles wouldn't it keep more oil on it JUSt curious what you think Do you hVW drawing of your idea to show im fascinating and will try it this week thanks again Russ lightwing:bighug:

:detective:PICKED UP' I ' basket went home and cracked her but still would have taken an hr I think to my best recollection IT is all immaterial really I think if you stand her up every day Just prop her up I use my toolbox under the engine guard with a steel bowl under the kick stand for over all stability try it for a week and see for yourself I still think pouring in the engine kote helps too with 20/50 lucas oil so good luck:080402gudl_prv:

HI thanks for the interest its passive the oiling in that part of the motor! So only a bit of spray on spinning parts a sparse bit of spray that's all! no direct stream on the gear that needs it most, it is barely oily/damp when I take off the cover! because it gets soo hot where the teeth are IT really needs a constant stream on the most used gear of the whole bike:lightbulb: Motor kote has had no effect on slipping clutch plates ONLY one I found does that is ROYAL PURPLE OIL but I ran Castrol a great cleaner after and it returned to normal I will further investigate gear dressing remedies which haVE BEEN RECOMMENDED IN SEVERAL ENGINEERING magazines for resolving gear noise in cars and manufacturing concern's like drawing lines in as they scrape the opposite face of individual gear drive and putting it one one side of tooth then alternate on clutch gears:detective: BUUUTTTT how come when I let off the gas and engine braking happens it disappears ??????? all together did they reverse the clutch gear on the basket should the rivets on clutch basket it be removed from basket and gear flipped and reattached I would love to try! Could it even be done love to try Fascinating subject:080402gudl_prv:
