  1. Ok...To all you blow hards...I had an opinion given to me that I passed along, I even thought about it. Opinions are like ,well you know, everybody has one, and a lot of them stink.

I ran over 5000 miles last month 2 up most with a trailer(yes with safety chains connected) Heck I even met a few of our venture rider brethren out there. Saw lots of really neet rides and some not so neet. To those of you that do not want to ride with me , Im fine with that, I don't think you were invited. As for me and mine, I will continue to ride and visit and gather opinions(good and bad) heck I might even share one or two. If I cross your path, I may even listen to what you have to say, If I find it interesting, I may choose to share it.

If you do not take a stand...

    You must first say nothing...

    You must do nothing...

    Then you must be nothing...

Somebody famous said that (do not recall who right now)

    Thanks Freebird for your clarification.

God is in control, when he is ready to call me home , I will follow.

  2. Hey Puc, I had found a bank repo Raider at a car lot in Oklahama not long after they came out. I flew in and rode it home. I did not modify/add accessories on that bike. I rode it about 6 months and turned it for a bit of profit. I am getting soft and missed my second gen dresser--windshield ,cruise, back rest, somewhere to put stuff. So to answer your question, no mods, passenger seat pad is a bit small imho for comfey/happy passenger.

Gearing was great, it would go 75 or 80 in 3rd gear and felt like 45. Plenty of power, I could downshift at 30 and break the back tire loose. Early advertisements showed the bike to break into the 10s on the 1/4 mile, and bragged that it was the fastest production v twin. I do not know if all that is true, but it was plenty quick.

  3. Hey Puc,

You were a hoot to see and visit with at Sturgis. I would not have guessed that anything was a miss. Just think of it as a very small price to pay for the rest of your life. You will be full of vim-vigor-and vitality before you can shake a stick. Just like when you broke down in Texas last year, you and Tip took a short break and before long you were on your way. Keep your heads, up rest easy, and get better. Prayers with you and Tippy- Isaiah 41:10 be strong my friend.

  4. We saw $3.65 in Sturgis and got home, Fuel is $2.12. Crude is at $42 and change this morning . Im liking the cheap stuff as long as it burns ok. That Sturgis fuel made my bike not want to idle, it cleared up and ran great about 100 miles away.

  5. Thanks for sharing your trip with us. Love the pics and notes. Your going to be little early for the 75th Anniversary at Sturgis. However the street cams show some vender booths already setup and a small bit of activity around town. Have fun and be safe.

  6. Ive ran metzlers, avons and now Michelins. All good, up to 16000 miles on one set of metzlers on a road star. Toward the end of tread wear life on the last metzlers over 10000, I did have the tread start to peal on the outside edges, up to then geat. Avons have all been great, I know some have had trouble. Now I have a fresh set of comander2. I should get about 4000 miles in the next few weeks to Sturgis and back. Great road test.

  7. I went to the local auto parts and got a beaded seat cover for a car and cut it down. About $15 bucks. This lets the air circulate under you. It does add about a half inch to your seat height. I have a road sofa seat and a utopia back rest. I tie the beads on the backrest on a long ride, or just put them in the trunk when you do not need them. I have enough beads left over to make a passenger cover also. The air ride seat covers will (my opinion ) roll from side to side making me feel somewhat unstable in the curves or turns, the beads stay put. Like I said, My opinion...you can be your own judge.
