  1. I was trying to find one also. Pinwall Cycle Products has a couple on EBay. $89 +$16 S&H. And since this may be your first Venture, the seat from years '99 to current will fit. There are two types of OEM seat - standard and Pillow Top. The 2000 came with the standard seat. Later models had the pillow top. Either will fit, but the standard will match the balance of the upholstery. Good luck finding a seat. And congrats on the new bike. You have the fastest year and color. RR
  2. It actually might be. Barrabo, WI is claimed to be 'Circus Town USA' and is just northwest of Madison. Glad to hear Bob made it down to you. It was kind of (d)icey yesterday. Thanks for the report. RR
  3. Just slip on the ice tires and go for it. Travel safely. RR
  4. PM sent. Should work out perfectly. Thanks, RR
  5. If I need to buy one it would be interesting if I could find a seat that was less than pristine. I sent an email to Pinwall asking if they have a lightly abused seat they would be willing to part with. All I need is the seat pan. Ideally, I would like to find someone who has purchased an aftermarket seat and has their stock seat just sitting around gathering dust. I will make sure the dust gets blown off; whether borrowed, traded, or bought. RR
  6. Called today to order my Russell Day Long seat for the RSV and was told the build date is April 23rd!!!! And it will take 2 to 3 weeks to get it built!!!! The RDL seat is built on the OEM seat pan so my bike would be without the seat until it gets back. This creates a big problem. I have a trip scheduled for May 1st and it won't be done by then. I should have ordered this seat a month ago, but...... Anyhooo, I was wondering if anyone had a stock seat they are not using that I could borrow, trade, or buy. If you would like to trade, I will send in your seat for the RDL conversion and then send you my Butt Butler modified, OEM (non-PillowTop), studded seat once the RDL is done. For the borrow, I will send in my seat and use yours for the May ride. Once the RDL shows up, I will send your seat back to you. Would have it back to you by mid-May. Of course, I will cover shipping (or come get it from you if you happen to be in WI). Thanks, RR
  7. OK, from a Dad that thinks this is cool - WEAR YOUR HELMET!!! Want to see pics. RR
  8. I mounted mine with sticky backed velcro on the bottom side of the faring. Right under the cruise control on/off switch and above the triple tree nut. Looks like OEM. Looking for a picture, but I can't find it. Found it on my work computer this morning. RR
  9. Perhaps a small cat. I had a mouse/chipmonk/small critter get into my muffler and store some deer corn I had in the garage. When I fired it up in the spring, the corn all shot out. It was quite a surprise. Glad it wasn't popcorn. RR
  10. Best weight loss program - divorce!! Didn't say it was a good program, just very effective. Lost 50+ lbs in about 4 months. Now that I have upgraded to Wife 2.0 for 6 years, gained it all back plus a few. Certainly don't want to go thru that diet program again though. RR
  11. Dan, I assume you brought some back for a WI maintenance day? RR
  12. You may want to check out the J&M website. They sell helmets there also. For the price you showed for the Nolan, you can get a 2 yo Aria with the headset installed. At 2 yo, the Aria warranty is the same as buying brand new. Their warranty is 5 yrs from purchase or 7 yrs from manufacture. Not sure if they have Nolans though. Google J&M for their site. RR
  13. I've got 70,000 miles and still going strong. Must have been built on a Wednesday. RR
  14. Does anyone find it interesting that Drew Brees played college ball at Purdue (just north-west of Indy) and Payton Manning grew up in New Orleans? RR
  15. Deb and Gary, +1 on the Red River and Nada Tunnel. Make sure to stop by the Natural Bridge State Park while you are in the area. Visit Mammoth Cave. Really neat. Took a weekend trip thru this area with my Mother a couple of years ago. It was a great time. FWIW: You may want to check on Bed and Breakfasts instead of a hotel. They often cost about the same and you get a better breakfast out of it. You can also get some nice local info. Several of them in the area. Just Google 'Bed and Breakfast Kentucky'. Have a great time. I need to get over to visit you this summer. RR
  16. Beav, I would reuse these calipers as is. You may want to run a little emery cloth around it to clean 'em up a little, but they look pretty good. What condition are the boots in? RR
  17. Yup, gotta have one. Good looking tool for a fair price. Just let me know when you need $$. RR
  18. You may want to look in the McMaster-Carr catalog and see if you can find a generic version of this tool. I borrowed a M-C spanner from a friend and it worked fine. However, I had to adjust by feel instead of with a torque wrench. Don't know if M-C has crowfoot spanners or not. RR
  19. 27. Rushed thru and didn't think on a couple of them. Not bad for an engineer. RR
  20. When I moved to Wisconsin from the 'normal' land of Indiana, I laughed at their term for the water fountain / drinking fountain. It is called a 'bubbler'. As in "The Bubbler is down the hall next to the rest rooms". Who'd u thunk. RR
  21. A THOUSAND DOLLARS?? Do they think I ride a BMW? RR
  22. Make sure it has all the mounting brackets and accessories. There should be a m/c mount that attaches to the handlebar controls screws and a suction cup car mount. Each of these mounts should have a cradle to go with them. These mounts were included with the original purchase of this GPS. They will cost you $80 to $100 each if purchased seperately. If they are included, go for it. Good unit. FYI - You can get an upgrade to the maps in the Zumo for about $60/year or a lifetime upgrade for something like $140. Please keep in mind the maps in this unit will be a couple of years old since Garmin stopped making the 450 in 2007 IIRC. RR
  23. The Utopia back rest is also very nice. Kuryakyn Longhorns are great foot rests. RR
  24. Yup, as of this point, I can likely host one up here again this year. (Do you think there are enough 'conditionals' in that sentence?) I need to check schedules, expected rides, etc. to find a good weekend. RR
  25. Chili and Taco dinner should work. It had to be said... RR
