Check with ProMotorSports in FDL for the shim. They have been good about swapping a shim from their kit if they have multiples of the size you need. RR

Well, I didn't ride the Venture. Roads are still too nasty for it. The KLR? No problem. It will go through anything and not need a bath. RR

Went home at lunch in the cage and just had to ride back. It is about 45 degrees and sunny although there is lots of snow still around. Need to be careful in shady places. It sure was nice to get some wind in the face. RR PS. For some reason, it appears my riding gear shrunk over the winter.

You can remove them, but they are not intended to be removed. The mounts would still be in place, the cable would need to be tied up. Your radio nor CB would work. You risk breaking some items that are not cheap to fix/replace. My suggestion is to leave them alone. RR

If it appears to be properly taken care of, the mileage wouldn't scare me. Mine has this many miles on it and will pressed into service of several 1000+ miles trips this summer. Might want to knock down the price a bit, but you're in Canada. Bikes seem to be more expensive up there. RR

2000 RSV on a battery tender comfortably resting in the heated garage 2008 KLR650 right next to the RSV. 1986 BMW K75C on the lift with its guts on the workbench. Will be back together this weekend (I hope) 1986 Vulcan 750 in the shop. Should be picking up a donor bike later this week. This will be back on the road as soon as the donor arrives. 1982 Suzy GS750T in the shop. Hasn't moved for years. Shouldn't take much, just haven't had time to mess with it. Always on the prowl for more. RR

By law, a helmet is required in WI for those under 18 only. However, where I live, a helmet is required to ride 100% of the time. The bikes are in my name and if one of the boys is caught riding without, his bike gets sold. No ifs, ands, or buts. I've never had a problem with any of them. We got good helmets that FIT. Now I need to work on the footwear. I've turned into an ATGATT Nazi. RR

It is held on with a single bolt. My clutch side lock fell off while riding thru Chicago. Haven't missed it. RR

Likely, your boots are fine. There will be cracks in them, but they are laminated. Inside rubber, metal, outside rubber. If you are concerned with them, spray some starter fluid on them while the engine is idling. If the RPMs change, then they need replaced. I would expect no change will occur. Time to do valves for sure. Freebird maintenance day is a good place to get that done. Get the replacement gaskets ahead of time. Likely there will be shims available for swap at MD. RR

That is not correct. The tax payer is liable for unpaid taxes. In a technical sense, the cheating tax preparer was correct. Since you signed it, you accepted it, it is your responsibility. Now, as to ethical.... not so much. 1) Take a look at any agreement/invoice from the tax preparer. There may be some language about them supporting you in a dispute with the IRS. 2) While I certainly wouldn't want a cheating accountant representing me, this language may make them liable to cover cost for an honest accountant/tax lawyer. 3) Get an honest accountant to go over the taxes and get them correct. This is the first thing that MUST be done. The government doesn't care about who is technically at fault. They just want their money. 4) Find a way to get the back taxes paid. The IRS does not have a sense of humor or fair play. 5) While the cheating tax preparers will not in any way be liable for your unpaid taxes, you may be able to make a case to have them cover any interest and penalties. That was part of what interested me. I am always concerned that I forgot to turn on my headlight after starting. My LED indicator has gone out on my switch, but the switch still works. I got a replacement switch, just haven't installed it. RR
