  1. Mine went out at about 90,000 miles. I think they are supposed to be replaced at 50k or so. Replaced the front ones at the same time just to be safe. They will be changed out every 50k miles from here on out. RR
  2. Believe FlyinFool makes this wrench also. However, using this wrench requires taking the front end apart - at least the outer and inner fairing. The 'tap lightly until tight' temporary fix is done with everything in place. And bongobobny is right. The center steering stem nut on the triple tree should not be loose. On the standard RSV, the tightening torque is fairly high at 130Nm (94 ftlb) per the Yamaha Service Manual.
  3. It was great finally getting to meet you and Alan. Have a great balance of your trip. Can I ride to Perth from here? RR
  4. Annie, Where are y'all staying Saturday night? Squidley mentioned you will be in Cleveland, TX. I'm looking to ride in late (supper time or a little later) and would like to get an opportunity to meet you. Le'me know. RR
  5. You can go to a local autoparts store and get it in a spray can. You will need to find the good store - not O'Reilly's or Autozone. Find the store the indy auto repair shops buy from. They will custom make colors in a spray can and have the clear coat. RR
  6. Go with the HD shock instead of riding without. RR
  7. Think you found your problem. Good work. RR
  8. You may want to lube the linkage. There are several joints in the mechanical line between the shifter and the transmission. Put a dab of bearing grease (after cleaning them up) should help. RR
  9. That's the product I'm thinking of. Basically, plastic sheeting. RR
  10. Forget drywall. Just put up melamine. (I think that's what it's called). It's basically sheet plastic. Assuming you aren't looking for a complete perfect finish like an inside room. RR
  11. He has been running around the area with these little, old engines. Quite cool actually. But he isn't riding as much as before. RR
  12. Beats hanging out with the ViQueens. RR
  13. There is section in the owners manual about this. RR
  14. Are those actual vegetables infecting that bacon sammich? RR
  15. Nah, any area that has a hotel is fine. There are several hotels at 41 and Oneida St. Everything from a Super8 to Hampton Inn. Hampton Inn has pool, Baymont has pool, Holiday Inn has pool, etc. Goin' up there to bow at the Vince statue? RR
  16. http://advrider.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=51 Check in here. You may also want to look at a fly and buy. RR
  17. I bought it from an EBay site. Will need to do some checking to find the seller. Will let you know when I find it. RR
  18. I also carry tools and parts. Haven't needed them on my bike, but have used them on others. RR
  19. I replaced the screen/touchpad a month or so ago. Works great now and is a bit brighter. My 550 is about 6 years old and has been beat around pretty well. Never had a problem with it. Use it for routing, MP3s, XM, and bluetooth for the phone. I have gotten my money's worth. The 665 will be next if the 550 ever dies. BTW, I almost always carry paper maps with me just in case. RR
  20. It also helps to have hands like a 10 year old Pakastani rug weaver. Good on you for getting it done. RR
  21. It's only 767 miles from Milwaukee. You need a selection for less than 1 day Do you intend to stop riding after lunch? RR

  23. Try loading the previous working firmware/mapset. This will likely take care of it. Keep an eye on the Garmin site to see when a newer firmware is released and then try that. This is not without precedent. In the LD community, it is common knowledge to never update a GPS right before a run. Kind of like never wake a sleeping baby. RR
  24. Was the problem happening before you updated? RR
  25. http://www.zumoforums.com - Location for knowledge all things Zumo. I expect you will need to upgrade the mapset/firmware. There have been occasions where an upgrade will cause problems. Either load a newer or a known good older version and the problem will likely be solved. RR
