  1. Congratulations. Welcome to the club #60622 . RR IBA 33089
  2. I am looking for a passenger foot rest board - right (throttle) side - for a project. Don't care if it is scratched up or if the rubber piece is missing. Am going to build a mount for a hydration system. Don't trust the straps I have used previously. Lemme know. Thanks. RR
  3. I use a tank bag when travelling. Just mount it over the bib. Only use the bib if day riding. RR
  4. Hope you bought the seller a drink first. You got a great deal. Welcome. RR
  5. What bike are you referring to? All Ventures and RSTDs are carburated and don't have ignition maps. That is for fuel injection. I could be wrong here - usually my wife will stop by to let me know - but I don't think so. RR EDIT: I now see in the title Ignitech. Read that originally as Ignition. Therefore, I am likely wrong.
  6. Not unless you REALLY ride the clutch often. Although, it is a good practice to measure both the frictions and the steels for thickness when you work on your clutch. RR
  7. The H4 "dual" beam HID is actually a single bulb with a small actuator in the back. The actuator moves the bulb to change the focal length for high beams. Don't use it with a modulator. RR
  8. Search for replacing the points in the OEM pump. Easy and cheap. As I have a tendency to take trips far from home, I carry a spare fuel pump with me. However, with 130k+ on the bike, the original pump has never failed. Inspected the points and they look brand new. Got a lucky one I guess. RR
  9. We have identified your problem. RR
  10. I suggest putting a 10 second delay relay on the HID. When you turn on the key, the light turns on. Hit the starter, and the voltage feeding the igniter goes to the threshold of acceptable. Sometimes below. This turns the HID light off and then immediately restarts it. Not good for the longevity of the bulb. In the more expensive HID units, this isn't as much of a problem. The inexpensive units from China (sold by Canadian Customized Cruisers and others) will have this difficulty. FYI - I have a cheap CCC HID. It has lasted several years and many 10s of thousands of miles with the 10 second delay relay. The bulb would last about 1/2 a year before installing the time delay. As an alternative, install a manual on/off switch for the headlight. Just make sure it is off when you start the bike. RR
  11. The Zumo 550 is a discontinued product by Garmin. You can find good used units out there, but Garmin will not repair if damaged. Garmin has moved to the Zumo 600/650 for new purchase. RR
  12. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?515-Rear-Wheel-Removal Try this. Couple of hints to make it easier: 1: A 10mm (IIRC) Allen wrench fits into the throttle side end of the axle. This allows you to turn and loosen it up. 2: Anti-Seize is your friend. Coat the axle with A-S before reinstalling. It will make your removal much easier next time. DO NOT GET ANTI-SEIZE ON THE THREADS. The torque specification for the axle nut is for dry threads. If you get A-S on the threads, you will severely over-tighten the nut. RR
  13. The Venture could have had a chance if the rider remembered the rev limiter. He shifted to 4th every time. No need. Top speed showed to be about 90-95 mph. We can do that in 3rd - and get there quicker. However, it looked like they were having a great time. Cool video. RR
  14. I got the Hagon one for mine and have been pleased. Heard nothing but good things about the Works shock though. The couple hundred dollar difference made the decision for me. RR
  15. That's the one I have also. However, the shell casing idea is interesting. The valve stem cover is pretty cool. FYI, I would suggest next time you replace your front tire, replace the stem with a metal one. The additional weight of the shell is pretty minor, but there are a lot of shock/vibration on the wheels that might cause some difficulties. Did you epoxy a standard valve cap into the shell? RR
  16. Look at the rear fender just above the rear brake caliper. You may need to open the saddlebag to see it. If there is a ding where the caliper hit the fender, the shock is shot. Not the only sign, but when my shock died on the way back from Houston (it wanted to stay at Squidley and Lonna's), a big bump put a ding there. RR
  17. I'm not buying what the rep said with the demise of the VMax. Too soon since they redesigned it. Now, putting the VMax engine in a new Venture? Now your talkin'. RR
  18. If you get the splitter, you can store the BT receiver inside the faring. Doubt it is waterproof, and it will clean up the look. RR
  19. No, not really. I just happen to get a good deal on them when I needed to replace my original OEM. RR
  20. I made no changes to my carbs when I installed K&N filters. Pilot screws are 2.5 turns. RR
  21. I have a Cyclegear magnetic tank bag. Just about any will work. To help keep everything from running down towards the seat, I put a rolled up towel under the back to make it more level. RR
  22. 58k miles? Barely broken in. 158k, still solid. 258k, maybe think of upgrading. RR
  23. Well done. To do this under 16 hours shows discipline of a true LD rider. Congrats. RR
  24. Announcement of the latest addition to the concert lineup at Buffalo Chip. http://tinyurl.com/kd4jfd2 RR
  25. Saddle Sore 1000. It is an entry ride for the Iron Butt Association. 1000 miles (1600km) in 24 hours. One of the other entry rides is the Bun Burner 1500 (BB1500). This is 1500 miles in 36 hours. RR
