    Rick, The Sonic Spring website does not list the Gen 2 RSV. They do list the XVZ13 Royal Star with a 1.2 kg/mm spring rate. Is this the correct one? Thanks, RR

    I squeeled the back tire twice this weekend. Once when the lead bike made an unexpected left turn, the other when I was looking at something stupid in a driveway and almost missed a stop sign. Neither time did it get squirrelly, but I don't like to do that. RR

    Before an Iron Butt run earlier this year, I tested to see how far I could really go on a tank of gas. I strapped a one gallon gas can (full) to the luggage rack, filled up my tank, and took off. My baby sputtered to a stop at 211 miles. Riding was a little more tame than usual, so the mileage was likely better. Put the gallon of gas from the can into the tank and headed for the nearest station. This will give you a feel for how far you can really go on a tank. RR

    Since this forum is where I first heard of Seafoam - I will explain in case you are also a Seafoam virgin. Seafoam is a gas treatment that cleans out a fuel system. It is recommended to run fairly low concentrations, but all seem to have better luck putting a whole can into a tank of gas. No harm will become of the rock-solid V4. You can get Seafoam at NAPA and most other auto parts stores. It is a few dollars a can. Good stuff. Welcome to the club. Enjoy your new ride. Just be prepared to break out your wallet - you will hear discussions of things you didn't even know were essential to have. RR

    Try a different headset/mic. And/or try to transmit from the rear seat connector. I was having trouble with the same thing and it turned out to be the cheap Chatterbox mic. RR

    Southwest MotoTires carries most. I just got some Avons (put them on today - still haven't ridden them yet) and they were current manufacturing date (late 06 date code). I believe their website is www.swmototires.com. Best price around and shipping is free if you buy two tires. They do carry Dunlops. RR

    Rich, It is difficult, but can be done. If you have a MC jack, lift it up. This allows you to get to the proper angle to get your hand in there. I was never able to do it on the ground, but tried it while the bike was up (changing to levelling links). Low and behold, I could reach the light from the left side. I have big hands (XXL gloves), but was still able to fit. Wasn't easy, but very doable. Good luck. RR

    Find someone with a CB and see if you can broadcast. If someone can hear you over the CB, your mics are working. RR

    I HAVE vented my tank neck, which allows me to fill it completely without too much fuss, and I think it is completely understandable why this is necessary. Yamahaha would rather play it safe and have the tank seem full at 5.5 gallons that risk dealing with the problems from lazy and inattentive owners spilling fuel when they don't shut the gas off soon enough during fueling. Anyway, the RSV tank DOES indeed hold six gallons, and many here have reported in other threads that they have come close to that on some fill ups. Goose Goose, Do you, or anyone else, have a pic of what you do to 'vent' the tank neck? RR

    Did my test today and found I was able to get 211 miles from a tank of gas. Filled it up to the neck and ran it until it was dry. Went to reserve at about 165 miles. Once out of gas, I put in a gallon from a gas can and drove about 5 miles to a gas station. Put in 4.95 gallons. Works out to about 37 miles to the gallon. This was about 1/2 back road / small town and 1/2 superslab at 70 mph. 3 weeks, 5 days to launch. Not that I'm counting. RR

    You will need to add a couple of 2x4 blocks or hockey pucks. Then it should work. I suggest getting a LarryLift (CarbonOne makes a lift adapter that works great. Very sturdy and makes for an easy and stable lifting platform). Check in the VR Classifieds for the lift adapter. Worth every penny. RR

    Kbay, Welcome to the Venturerider fanily. You will really enjoy your new bike. And yes, your post was in the right place (we are not too terribly strict about rules - other than: always keep it on the G side of PG, no disparaging comments about others, etc.) However, there is one cardinal rule: when you have any thing new - a bike, an accessory, a dog, a trailer, etc. - you MUST POST PICTURES!!! We all want to see your new baby. You will find tons of great information about your new scoot in here. And tons of ways to spend your disposible income on accessories and safety chrome. OK, all - start sending Kbay all the thing he needs to review, add on, remove, etc. to his Venture. I will start: Leveling links - great for improving low speed handling. Again, welcome. RR PS, My brother has a Honda Shadow Aero - very nice ride.
