Engine oil was changed with Mobil1 full synthetic earlier this summer. I will check a couple of other RSVs at VIP and see if it is the same. Been having trouble with my left elbow that may be translating into me being a whimp on the clutch. We shall see. RR

Bearing Buddies are really only needed for boat trailers. They are designed to keep water from being sucked past the seals when you back into the water. When you run the trailer, the bearings get hot. Backing them into the water cools them quickly, creating a vacuum. Hence, wanting to suck water thru the seals. Because you will not be backing your motorcycle trailer into the water (and if you do, you have bigger problems than water in the bearings), you really don't need Bearing Buddies. Just give the bearings a shot of grease every once in a while. RR

No. I had the clutch replaced by the dealer in 2005 (before I started doing my own wrenching). I assume he replaced the springs with standard OEM parts. I have not changed the fluid in the clutch line. I did my brake lines earlier this year, but for some reason, I didn't do the clutch at the same time. I will put a drop of oil on the lever hinge pin and see if that helps. That sounds like a good job for the next rainy weekend. It's not so bad that it keeps me from riding. BTW, the clutch works fine, just harder to pull than I would expect. RR

I would like to see that. That would provide the required link to make it all work. RR

Total cost for Kennedy setup is about $350.00. RR

Following is the response from Kennedy Electronics. You may want to scroll down to see what questions I asked to provide some context to their answers. Looks very promising. RR Kennedy@cellset.com said: here's what you'll need... cellset, mc/gps3 harley style aux audio harness fpd type 2 intercom harness zumo 550 harness universal power harness simple switch or relay timer switch assembly (to switch zumo between aux audio and intercom) yes, the passenger can hear music, gps, phone, etc. install instructions are included. it's pretty easy. all plug and chug. TheZumo has theBluetooth capability to link in the phone, but I’m not sure how to get the micfrom my helmet back out to the phone. My headset is the standard 5 pin plug. It appears you products will allow this to work properly. My questions are: 1) Will you products allow me to listen to the radio or MP3 (from Zumo) in steroe, let the GPS provide direction alerts, and let me talk on theBluetooth phone? 2) If the answer to questions 1 is yes, what products are needed to make this happen? 3) Will this setup still allow a passenger to listen to music (as selected by the driver) and to use the intercom? 4) Do you have installation instructions for this setup? Thank you for your help. Regards, Jeff Johnson

Radio Tech Question
RedRider replied to LeeClouser's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
This is an ongoing investigation. Keep checking back for answers. We have a lead with Kennedy Electroincs - waiting for a response. RR -
This stuff looks cool. I sent an email to Kennedy to see what exactly would be required to integrate all the electronic toys into the current headset/microphone installed in my helmet. I'll let you know what they respond with. RR

Agreed, however, I would like to take my bike on business trips. I need to use the phone while travelling (it is all voice activated). If need be, I don't find it difficult to ignore an incoming call - whether I'm in my truck or on a bike. It just provides another opportunity to ride where I would otherwise be forced to take the truck. RR

This is an interesting thread since I am wanting to do something similar. I would like to integrate my Zumo 550 and my cell phone into my current hard wired headset setup. The Zumo will provide the Bluetooth link to my cell phone. I just need to find a way to integrate it into my speakers and microphone already connected to the 5 pin wiring. Will the J&M CFRG integration module do this? Any other possibilities? RR

Get a battery tender. Never happen again. RR -
Well written letter. Send it to the Gov. You may want to hold off on the media until they get a chance to reply to you. No use in whacking the hornets nest if you don't need to. But if they don't reply - go for it. RR

Rick, The Sonic Spring website does not list the Gen 2 RSV. They do list the XVZ13 Royal Star with a 1.2 kg/mm spring rate. Is this the correct one? Thanks, RR

I might recommend the AirHawk seat cushion. It works for me. RR

Get an FM adapter for your Ipod - about $30 at Walmart RR

I squeeled the back tire twice this weekend. Once when the lead bike made an unexpected left turn, the other when I was looking at something stupid in a driveway and almost missed a stop sign. Neither time did it get squirrelly, but I don't like to do that. RR

What is the actual fuel capacity...
RedRider replied to NLAlston's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Before an Iron Butt run earlier this year, I tested to see how far I could really go on a tank of gas. I strapped a one gallon gas can (full) to the luggage rack, filled up my tank, and took off. My baby sputtered to a stop at 211 miles. Riding was a little more tame than usual, so the mileage was likely better. Put the gallon of gas from the can into the tank and headed for the nearest station. This will give you a feel for how far you can really go on a tank. RR -

Your mic is bad. Go to the dealer and try a new mic and see if it works. RR -
Quick Question, maybe
RedRider replied to matt73ander's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Since this forum is where I first heard of Seafoam - I will explain in case you are also a Seafoam virgin. Seafoam is a gas treatment that cleans out a fuel system. It is recommended to run fairly low concentrations, but all seem to have better luck putting a whole can into a tank of gas. No harm will become of the rock-solid V4. You can get Seafoam at NAPA and most other auto parts stores. It is a few dollars a can. Good stuff. Welcome to the club. Enjoy your new ride. Just be prepared to break out your wallet - you will hear discussions of things you didn't even know were essential to have. RR- 16 replies

RedRider replied to jonesy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Try a different headset/mic. And/or try to transmit from the rear seat connector. I was having trouble with the same thing and it turned out to be the cheap Chatterbox mic. RR -

Sure it isn't just your front wheel being out of alignment? RR PS. Yes, I'm joking.
