  1. I recall a television episode of some cop show where they caught a couple of guys who beat up and robbed a nun. The thugs were being biligerent, and the cops didn't have hard, solid evidence - but knew they did it. The cops announced to the public they were forced to let these thugs go, and they will be released at such a time, at such a place, and there will be no cops around. The thugs confessed when they saw the crowd of ball bat wielding Catholics outside the precinct house waiting for their release. I wonder what would happen if the local police advised they will be 'dealing with an event' on the other side of town when these protesting pieces of slug sh*t showed up at a funeral of a fallen hero? Perhaps a little too much vigilante justice, but there isn't a jury in the world that would convict someone for pounding some sense into these morons. RR
  2. Good timing. Tonight is 'pay bills' night. I will get a check out for 4. RR
  3. Let's see, a vibration reducing device... Would that not just be a 2nd Gen? Good luck in your search. I would like to see pics of this. RR
  4. AWWW, you had to spoil the ending!! I just received my Imprimus today and will be reading the CT interview shortly. RR
  5. Condor, I'm 6'4", 250 (or so) lbs and found the RSV to fit me beautifully. Add some Longhorn highway pegs so you can stretch out on the highway, and you are good to go. Turned 50,000 miles on the bike earlier this month and have had only to replace the starter solenoid (under warranty) and put in a new clutch. Other than standard maintenance (tires, brakes, fluids), it has been flawless. I do no special checking/testing before setting out on 1000+ mile trips. I love my bike!! RR
  6. Let's see: Rebuild the Kawa 750 Vulcan - again (I screwed it up first time) Paint the trailer to match my beautiful red machine Add a Stebel horn (Xmas gift perhaps??) Plan a nice long ride for late spring/early summer Other than that, I have most everything I want/need on my bike. Hmmm, I need to come up with a name for my bike. RR
  7. I would even throw in my $100 gift certificate for winning the calendar contest to help offset the tooling charges. I did win, didn't I?????? RR
  8. Zumo 550 may work also. but not for the CB. RR

    New Seat

I forgot to mention, I am 6'4" and it really helps. RR
  10. Generally, heated clothing runs thru a controller so you can adjust the temp. I have wired mine direcly to the battery with an inline fuse (provided with controller wiring when purchased). Be careful of current draw. Depending what accessories and toys are installed on the bike, you can outstrip the stator capacity. If there are extra front lights, you may want to turn them off while you are running your heated clothes. Enjoy your ride home. Hope the weather cooperates. However, to answer your original question - the plug in the front fairing is a standard cigarette lighter type plug. The rear outlet is a special plug that nothing connects too. RR

    New Seat

Get an Airhawk. Less expensive than a new seat and works great - even on the tailbone problem. RR
  12. I had it happen today on the way to the WI M&E. An 18 wheeler decided at the last minute he wanted to take an entrance ramp I had already moved into. I had stayed back just in case and broke (braked) hard and came to a stop. The rear locked up and was just a little squirrelly, no big deal. I also used the front brake. The 18 wheeler saw me also and stopped so there wasn't much opportunity for a collision. In the end, nothing bad happened. In defense of the 18 wheeler, there was construction barrels all around and it wasn't very well marked. This was also a turn back onto a main road after a detour. A gentle wave once I passed him thanking him for seeing me and stopping when he quickly turned onto the entrance ramp. I felt the rear locked up easier than it should have. ABS would be really nice ('10 model??). RR
  13. That's OK, some of us don't read real fast either. RR
  14. There must some changes in the offing. The silence is telling. Until this year, you didn't hear anything about the Kawa Concourse, and now every magazine and website is discussing the new Concourse14. Same thing with the Kawa Voyager - although they haven't done anything new for it and it still is getting no notice. Hopefully, with the release of the new VMax motor they will port the engineering over to the Venture and WOW us all in 2010. At least by then, I might be able to afford a new bike. I just hope all my accessories will fit on the new Venture!! RR
  15. OH! The humanity!! RR
  16. Congratulations on quitting!! I quit chewing after 25 years and it was absolute hell for a couple of months. Then just inconvenient for a couple of months. Now it only bothers me when I drink. I use a cigar as a crutch. The tobacco is enjoyable, but it makes me stink so badly that I know I won't do it on a regular basis. Your life insurance rates will go down substantially also. Good luck. Just think of all the chrome you can buy with the freed up money. RR
  17. Yup, noticed this also. It is a great magazine that deals with motorcycle touring. You won't get the usual 'Ducati' reference in every artical (ie. CycleWorld). I noticed the comment in the previous Victory Vision article reference left out the Venture. I thought it was left out since it was a little long in the tooth, not well promoted by Yamaha, and not very common among the general biking population. I was pleased to see she (the editor is a woman - Christa Neuhauser) actually included the Venture in the original cut of the article. RR
  18. Heated gloves are wonderful. Got a set from Warm&Safe (www.warmnsafe.com) along with a jacket liner and the controls. No more cold hands or body. As for the passenger, unless they are riding with you all the time, go to WalMart or your local hunting supply store and get some chemical hand warmers. They are about $1 a set and last 7 to 10 hours (depending on which ones you get). They work as well on the bike as they do in the tree stand. You can get a lot of chemical hand warmers for the cost of heated grips. I carry 3 or 4 sets on my bike all the time (in case I get caught without my toasty elec gloves). RR
  19. I would be in for several. Great idea. Will they still work if they are given to folks that don't ride the premier bikes? Specifically, will they work on BMWs, Hondas, and HDs? RR
  20. 1070 miles in 19.5 hours. Had to deal with rain, cold, sun, heat, and rain again. Fond du Lac, WI to Charleston, SC. IB papers in progress. First plan option was discussed this weekend for doing a '1500 miles in 24 hours' run. RR
  21. Dang, too bad it wasn't the faster, red 2000 color. I am likely painting my trailer this winter and could have taken it off your hands. How well did the ColorRite paint match? RR
  22. If it did, it wouldn't cost as much. RR

    GPS

If you are looking for a GPS that will go on both a bike and a cage, you can't go wrong with the Garmin Zumo 550. It is a little higher in the price range, but it comes with both mounts and appropriate wiring. It also has a built-in MP3 player. Very nice. RR
