  1. I will always test my gear while sitting on the bike from now on. RR
  2. Just purchased my, and my son's, licenses today. Will look forward to seeing that sight with crosshairs overlaid on it. Mmmmm... Venison RR
  3. I ordered a pair of First Gear Air Overpants from New Enough. Got the tall version and tried them on. Wow, they were long as I stood there. I proceeded to call NewEnough to order the standard length and get a return number for the tall length pants. I returned the talls, received the standard lengths, NewEnough quickly credited my account. With me so far??? I then proceeded to go for a ride with the standard length pants. They were too short once I sat on the bike. Needed the talls. SH*T - already returned them. I then reordered the talls, got a return number for the standards, and waited for them to come in. Once the talls arrived, I tried them on - while sitting on the bike - and they fit great. Returned the standard length pants, NewEnough credited my account. Bottom line - I was a customer from Hell (although I recognized I was in the wrong and was nice to them while explaining my being a Numbskull). NewEnough was polite, professional, and only laughed a little bit when I explained my perdicament. The dollars were properly and promptly evened up, and all is great with the world. THIS IS A COMPANY TO DO BUSINESS WITH - THEY ARE GREAT!!! More will be purchased from them. BTW, the First Gear Overpants are pretty nice. RR
  4. Welcome to the forum. This is a great bike that will provide you many years of fun. Let us know what other questions we can answer RR
  5. I want the car lift in the garage. Very nice RR
  6. I thought that was what the whine was for. RR
  7. Now what will we do to keep the dogs from chasing us? RR
  8. Then your response should be "then I will find a new dealer that will". I suspect he will change his tune. You may want to remove the wheels from the motorcycle and see if that makes a difference to him. My local dealer charges $27 per tire (if the wheels are removed from the bike) - no questions asked. RR
  9. If you are going to spend the big bucks, try an Arai. It is light weight and has multiple selections of padding available to custom fit your melon. You will also find a full face (not flip up) helmet will be quieter. They are pretty expensive but are very high quality. On the HJC, if you are finding it a little tight at the forehead, take a small round rock or a ball peen hammer and pound the styrofoam out a little bit. Not too much 'cause this will reduce the protective capacity. However, pounding out 1/8 inch will make a huge difference on the fit and comfort. I've done this on my 1/2 helmet and my flip face - both HJC. The idea mentioned above of going to the Motorcycle shows in the spring and trying on helmets is a great way to go. All the brands will be there along with factory reps. You can also consult with the various headset folks since they will be there. Any way about it though, you are better off wearing a helmet. You will find it is like a seat belt - once you get really used to it, it feels odd not having it on. Ride safely. RR
  10. Get these, and put a chemical hand warmer in the mitten cover. It will keep your fingers warm and ready to shoot. It also works when you are riding. If needed you can put a chemical hand warmer both in front and behing the fingers. Works as well as electric gloves. RR
  11. Larry, As long as you will be back in production by Christmas. I'm asking Santa for a Stebel horn. However, now that I think about it, I will have until about the end of March to get it installed. I live in Wisconsin. RR
  12. With no outside assistance (police), I would suspect the video camera would experience mechanical trouble. RR
  13. If you intend to do some serious long distance riding, invest in a couple of Airhawks (relatively expensive - $170 for driver saddle pad, $150 for pillion). If you are looking for 3 or 4 hours, go to Ikea and get a sheepskin for $20 and cut it to size. You are a lucky man finding a woman to schedule your rides. RR
  14. Jimbo, I have a 2G SD card in my Zumo 550 and it works just fine. RR
  15. www.mcmaster.com Search for sorbothane. You can get different thicknesses, sheet sizes, plain or adhesive backed, etc. RR
  16. I recall a television episode of some cop show where they caught a couple of guys who beat up and robbed a nun. The thugs were being biligerent, and the cops didn't have hard, solid evidence - but knew they did it. The cops announced to the public they were forced to let these thugs go, and they will be released at such a time, at such a place, and there will be no cops around. The thugs confessed when they saw the crowd of ball bat wielding Catholics outside the precinct house waiting for their release. I wonder what would happen if the local police advised they will be 'dealing with an event' on the other side of town when these protesting pieces of slug sh*t showed up at a funeral of a fallen hero? Perhaps a little too much vigilante justice, but there isn't a jury in the world that would convict someone for pounding some sense into these morons. RR
  17. Good timing. Tonight is 'pay bills' night. I will get a check out for 4. RR
  18. Let's see, a vibration reducing device... Would that not just be a 2nd Gen? Good luck in your search. I would like to see pics of this. RR
  19. AWWW, you had to spoil the ending!! I just received my Imprimus today and will be reading the CT interview shortly. RR
  20. Condor, I'm 6'4", 250 (or so) lbs and found the RSV to fit me beautifully. Add some Longhorn highway pegs so you can stretch out on the highway, and you are good to go. Turned 50,000 miles on the bike earlier this month and have had only to replace the starter solenoid (under warranty) and put in a new clutch. Other than standard maintenance (tires, brakes, fluids), it has been flawless. I do no special checking/testing before setting out on 1000+ mile trips. I love my bike!! RR
  21. Let's see: Rebuild the Kawa 750 Vulcan - again (I screwed it up first time) Paint the trailer to match my beautiful red machine Add a Stebel horn (Xmas gift perhaps??) Plan a nice long ride for late spring/early summer Other than that, I have most everything I want/need on my bike. Hmmm, I need to come up with a name for my bike. RR
  22. I would even throw in my $100 gift certificate for winning the calendar contest to help offset the tooling charges. I did win, didn't I?????? RR
  23. Zumo 550 may work also. but not for the CB. RR
  24. RedRider

    New Seat

I forgot to mention, I am 6'4" and it really helps. RR
  25. Generally, heated clothing runs thru a controller so you can adjust the temp. I have wired mine direcly to the battery with an inline fuse (provided with controller wiring when purchased). Be careful of current draw. Depending what accessories and toys are installed on the bike, you can outstrip the stator capacity. If there are extra front lights, you may want to turn them off while you are running your heated clothes. Enjoy your ride home. Hope the weather cooperates. However, to answer your original question - the plug in the front fairing is a standard cigarette lighter type plug. The rear outlet is a special plug that nothing connects too. RR
