No, both driver and passenger backrests are separate items. RR

Pete, Sound like a simple clutch replacement. Springs and friction plates - just like Squeeze said. Pretty easy to do. Where in WI are you? RR

Is it now legal for anyone to wear a diaper on their head rather than a helmet?

That's a good looking radio holder. RR

And don't forget - 5 year warranty. RR

They are directed to the same speakers. The music will play and the CB will override when something passes the squelch. RR

Check the Classifieds on this site. I also recommend the lift adapter if you are going to do any serious wrenching. RR

I'm not sure about that. Different helmets fit me differently - all with the same neck. While it is certainly more expensive, check out an Aria helmet. If you have a good dealer that carries Aria, they can fit you. If your forehead is tight in a standard HJC helmet, try the Profile line of Aria. It fits my egg shaped head very well. Aria provides custom pad sizes for the head, cheaks, and chin to customize your fit. You pay for it, that's for sure. A Profile helmet (it is a full face - not modular) is about $450 to $500. As an alternative, take a ball peen hammer and knock back the styrofoam where it hits your forehead. A nice smooth river rock works well too. This is how I got my HJC to fit. I can't afford an Aria either. RR

Juggler, you should know better than to criticize someone's rib recipe. It's like telling them their kid is ugly. :rotf: Never criticize recipies for - ribs chili bread gravy or anything made over a fire in a dutch oven. All are very personal recepies that have developed or past down thru family. They will be defended as a point of honor. Just eat, help clean up, and ride. RR (aka Chef Jeff)

Thanks all. To Capnmidnight: You need to document your ride with a witness form at the beginning and at the end, along with gas receipts along the way. Submit the witness forms, receipts, and a map outlining your ride (along with a few dollars) to the Iron Butt Association. They review it, confirm it, and approve it. There are many levels of IB rides. This is just the intro ride. They only get better from here. If you want to check it out http://www.ironbutt.com Ultimately, it would be fun to do the IB rally. However, I don't see that happening for quite a while. To Starbog: It took from about October until yesterday to get the certificate approved. An email was sent to me yesterday advising me of acceptance, but it will take another couple of weeks for the paperwork to get to me (certificate and license plate backer). The friend I ran it with may also want to try a next level run this summer (1500 mile in 24 hours). It may require some alteration like an auxilliary gas tank, but we may go for it. May you be interested in joining us? The Venture is a great bike to do this on. At the end of a long run, I am still ready to do more. RR

It is official. My ride last year from Fond du Lac, WI to Charleston, SC - 1000+ miles in 24 hours for the SaddleSore1000 and the additional 500 miles the next day to complete 1500+ miles in 36 hours for the BunBurner1500 - has been accepted by the Iron Butt Association as valid. I can now claim to have buns of steel - no matter how they look in Spandex. WooHoo!!! RedRider

That's right where mine is too. About 6 to 8 mph high. If we use a Speedohealer, will it still allow us to set the cruise at 85 mph (max cruise speed)? Or will it be the corrected 78 mph? RR

Been down there the last 2 years. The only place I have ever gone twice (on an overnight trip). There are so many great places to ride here in North America - but riding in the Smokeys is just something special. I think I will be back to ride it again in October. The snow might be melted by then. Supposed to get another 4 to 8 inches tomorrow. GRRRRRRRR!! RR

driver's seat bolt nuts
RedRider replied to dharnie's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Naah, stock nuts are fine. If you don't tighten them properly, though, they have a tendency to vibrate loose and off. This discussion has to do with what to use once you loose the stock nuts (or is you want the ability to remove the seat without using tools). RR -
driver's seat bolt nuts
RedRider replied to dharnie's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Use the nylon insert nuts. You still will need to use a tool to remove it, but it won't vibrate off. They are also referred to as airplane nuts. RR -
Down and out!!!!!!
RedRider replied to Kurt827's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Kurt, It was -17F in WI today. Was this just a couple of days ago when it was only 20F? Holy Cow - PBS really must have been hitting you hard. (Parked Bike Syndrome). This is still snowmobile riding time. We have been buried in snow since Thanksgiving. You are a little south of us though. Glad you walked away - OK, gimped away. Good luck in getting your bike beautiful again. RR -
To toss out an alternative - Airhawk seat pad. About $150 but is transferable to another bike and is incredibly comfortable. Just a thought. RR

That is the correct pump and a good price too. When I bought mine last year the best price was from the HD dealer - about $45. RR

You don't need to rejet for the K&N filters. The best thing to start with is a good carb syncronization. Put out the feelers for someone in you area who has a Morgan Carbtune. In exchange for beer, you can probably get your carbs sync'd. RR

I know exactly what that ailment is. My older brother had it when he was 20ish. Had it cut out as it wouldn't heal on its own. Once he had it fixed, he was a perfect a**hole. Just kidding, of course. My brother is also my best friend (even though he doesn't ride). Hope you get better soon. However, I don't have much sympathy for "not riding for 10 days". I haven't ridden since before Thanksgiving and there is about 15 inches of snow on the ground. We are supposed to get 6 to 12 more on Sunday. AAARRRGGG!!! RR

Bubs installed - To Re-Jet or Not to Re-Jet
RedRider replied to 2Whlsrollin's topic in Watering Hole
I've had Bubs on mine since I bought it in 2002 - no rejetting. Runs great with no fouling of the plugs. Don't waste your time or your money on rejetting. There are so many other items you can waste your money on. RR -
+1 on the advrider.com reference. Be careful if you start reading some of the ride reports. They will consume you and your time. RR

Am going nuts!!! We got 10" of snow yesterday, it was -4F this morning, we are to get 8 to 13" on Sunday, AAARRGGHH!!! I you are doing the Superior Circle Tour this summer, call me. I may, or may not be able to join you, but it is a great ride. Did it 2 years ago and I can give you some pointers on where to stop and where not to. Anyway about it, you can stop by on the way for a rest if you would like. We are just off the highway you will take to get there. We are planning on doing an East Coast tour this year. I am laying out some routes thru the Green (VT) and White (NH) mountians and over to Arcadia National Park in Maine. Should be a fun ride - IF THE SNOW EVER GOES AWAY!!! RR
