I'll be at the IMS in Chicago this Sunday. I try to go every year as it is my fix to make it though winter. RR
-
I'll check with GR later today on the pins and the spring clip. I did ask him about the physical mounting of the pads, but not with the details Puc described. Thank you all. RR

Banjo bolts had been cleaned and blown out with compressed air. Keep it coming. GR is still working on this. Current plan is to take apart the calipers (he now has more than 1) again and make sure everything is clean and installed correctly. RR

I'll jump in here for a little feedback. I also questioned the mechanical possibility of the brake pedal not returning correctly. It has been checked and there is a little play in it when at rest (like it should be). Also, pretty sure the wheel spacer is in there right. The rear wheel had not been removed from when the brakes were working correctly. We are hoping the thorough cleaning of the reservoir will take care of this. GR is in need of speed. The little KLR just isn't cuttin' it. Besides, spring break is coming up and I need something to ride out there. I'm tired of . Keep it coming guys. You are really being very helpful. I'm not very versed on these old washing machines. FYI - GR's bike is 6 years older than he is. Keeping the dream alive! RR

Belle Fourche, SD. Geographic center of the 50 US States. Will see if I can find my picture of the geographic center of NA (near Rugby, SD). RR

You can also check Craigslist. They have a section devoted to wheels and tires. A nice set of 22's would look bithin' on your G6. RR

Just a quick update (sorry if I'm stealing your thunder GR) - Golden Rider removed the brake line from the rear caliper to see how an R6 caliper would perform (just setting it on the rotor for testing purposes). The original caliper relaxed once the banjo was removed. Apparently, the problem is in the line or in the master cylinder. He is going to replace the line and make sure all the orifices are clean in the MC. RR

I never knew that about VR. But then again, I never found the desire to put anyone on ignore here. Pretty good group of folks. RR

I like how ADVRider does it. They allow you to put an irritating poster on 'ignore'. Therefore, their posts do not show up on any thread you are viewing. I believe you can also block their PM attempts. RR

OldGoat, The American flag flying the highest is a protocol, not a law. Just a thought (honey vs. vinegar) - Have you welcomed them to the neighborhood? As a kid, when someone moved into our neighborhood my mother would bake something and take it to their house. She used this as an introduction. We found the folks that were welcomed ended up becoming a supporting part of the neighborhood. I have tried to follow this practice as I've become one of the more mature (OK, older) residence of my neighborhood. When a future opportunity arises over a beer at the end of the driveway / front porch, you can mention the flag protocol. Don't be (overly) offended if they disagree, but at least they will now know. If you were in another country, where would you fly the American flag? On top or below the host country's flag. At least they had an American flag out there and not just their native banner. Or, you can be the crotchety old man yelling 'Get off my lawn'. Just keep telling yourself - "Mmmmm, holiday tamales, holiday tamales". It's late. I should be sleeping and not poking the OldGoat RR

Had some meetings in NY (just north of the city) earlier this week. Took the weekend to ride out and see some tree color in northern PA. Just after crossing into the state I hit this milestone: Nice 2200 mile trek to finish the year with about 16000 miles (on one rear tire - E3). Time to break out the guns. RR

What dealer did you go to? Yamaha? HD? If an HD dealer they will pay you a little less than what they can get at auction as they will not generally put a used non-HD on the floor. RR

+1 on the Russell Day Long. They will customize it to whatever you need. Expensive, but Ohhhhh so worth it. Most comfortable seat evah!! Multiple 1000+ mile days in a row with the RDL on the Venture. Where in FtW are you? I will be riding through next weekend, and if you are en route, you could check out the RDL. I will be in SWAC (Homestead area) for a while on my way to NY. RR -
This is the Progressive pump (private labeled by HD) which is a zero letoff pump. Good little pump for the front forks and rear OEM shock. In the front, if you use a standard pump, the small amount of air released when the pump is disengaged will change the suspension. If that is actually the same as the Progressive pump (vs. a cheap Chinese knockoff), that is a screaming deal. Usually, $45-$50 at the Harley shop (and that is most often the least expensive place to purchase, believe it or not). RR

Is the current owner open to staying around for 6 months or so as a consultant (yes, you will likely need to pay him)? That may help with the learning curve of running your own business. He has certainly learned a few things over the years that will be helpful to you. My local indy auto shop is busier than ever. He is honest, does good work, and charges a fair price. He also doesn't work on weekend as that is family time. Go for it. Good luck. RR

A quick check for the fuel pump is to pop the cap end off and look at the points. Do a search on here for what they should look like and how to get to them (remove clutch side battery cover, cap end cover will be staring at you). I run for long hours (Death Valley and surrounding areas - in July) and don't have heat issues. However, it doesn't mean you are not. RR

If you can make it over to the Fond du Lac area this weekend I can get you sync'd up. Going to be working around the house all weekend. RR

Don't do it. Think of the size of the pond monster there!!!! RR

Stunningly beautiful. But you waited until AFTER the bidding closed 8/18 to post it!!! Guess I'll have to stay where I am. Thanks for posting this and allowing a brief excursion into dreamland. RR

American Management Explained. This Guy Nails It.
RedRider replied to SilvrT's topic in Jokes and Humor
The new management team went to the engineering team to access what was happening. The engineering team determined the best course of action was to eliminate all the managers, lay off the rower, and put a radio controlled motor on the boat. The next year, the American team beat the Japanese team by 3 miles but didn't have anybody qualified to tow the boat back to the factory. RR
