  1. Well that's simple. A "weun" is just a tiny "un". Duh.
  2. Oooooo, you're mean! And I LOVE it!!! :rotf:
  3. Peggy, that has to be the PRETTIEST 99 RSV on the planet! No disrespect for any others, but yours is awesome! Just tell Ron that it is criminal to hide that beauty away in a garage. If he ain't gonna ride it, he should sell it to someone that will. Joe
  4. NOW THAT IS FUNNY!! :rotf: Good old Cheech nd Chong.....
  5. That is a work of art! Wouldn't surprise me if it's priced that way too.
  6. Today is number 56 for Leadwolf56. How appropriate! Happy birthday Kevin! May you have the best year of your life! Joe and Donna
  7. Here are my pix....my GPS is a Nuvi 780 so the actual holder is different from yours, just a bit smaller. Even tho my bike is a Goldwing the mount would be the same.
  8. But aren't your handlebars different than those on a 1st Gen Venture? You have the tubular bars, right? Joe
  9. I'll snap a pic at lunch time and get it posted for you. Joe
  10. I'd recommend This plus This. With this system your clutch or brake reservoir is not covered, and you will have a lot more adjustment for where you position the GPS. It's what I use and it is great. Joe
  11. Hey Jeff, not sure which side this is for, whether radio or cb....(are they different?) but maybe this would work for you? http://www.ebay.com/itm/09-Yamaha-Royal-Star-Venture-XVZ1300-ANTENNA-MOUNT-/200731162478?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item2ebc82776e#ht_4781wt_1163 Joe
  12. I beg to differ. Donna says she has much better passenger protection on the wing (either 1500 or 1800).....and I know that I do too. Of course, my RSV had the Show Chrome shorty windshield on it so that may have been the difference.
  13. Tell the truth Don. You just needed another Canoodian to help translate their weird language so us Yanks can figger out what they're trying to say!
  14. Yep, that's what I've been saying for a few years now. I honestly think they will full-dress the Strat and that will be their touring bike. They've already taken the first step with the badder version of the strat, just need the electonics etc.
  15. You are most welcome, Dan. I really hope I win that sucker, because I know just where it will end up if I do. I have no interest in pulling a trailer, I use a hitch rack. So, I'll just have to donate it to someone who lives close enough that I can deliver it to him.
  16. Not sure if this is what you were trying to accomplish, but in case anyone else would be interested..... http://www.spoiledbiker.com/harleyadap.html
  17. You are exactly right, it IS a crap shoot. And that is why the results vary widely when people try different baskets. In the past, some have wondered why Yamaha doesn't do the right thing and just issue a recall to address the issue. I believe that the answer to that is simple....it would nearly bankrupt their motorcycle division to do so. The only way I can see that the whine could be solved permanently is a redesign of the drive and driven gears. They would have to make them helical, and changing to them would involve removing and breaking down the engine on every single Venture ever made....at least those brought in to have the problem fixed. Now, why they don't re-engineer it for future model years is another issue. I think it's probably because there won't be many more future model years for the RSV. At least not in its present form. Joe
  18. When mine was built about 20 years ago, they used a coarse granular insulation material. Came in bags like concrete mix, just poured it down into the blocks as they built it. Should add that I'm not all that impressed by its insulating properties. Joe
  19. It does. The driven gear is affixed to the back of the basket.
  20. I'm not aware of any fix that is permanent. It seems that a lot of people who replace the clutch basket with Yamaha's recommended I-basket (myself included) will have an initial improvement. However, after about 5000 miles on mine the whine started coming back just as before. I found my own permanent solution. It's called a Goldwing.
  21. Agreed. I'd be tempted to buy one of those myself. I love the flexibility of that trailer, not being limited by the size or shape of an integrated box. Great idea, great execution! Joe
  22. Was that Larry? Poor guy was probably in extreme distress having to be consoled by those ladies?.......NOT!
  23. Bill, I can verify that yours has NO whine whatsoever. Not even with a Goldwing rear wheel/tire bungied onto the back seat! Joe
  24. Way back in the early 90's I traded a brand new riding mower to a guy for a Honda Elite 150 scooter. It was like new but had set on his covered porch for 2 years. It would run fine at higher rpm's, but like your Venture, it would hardly idle at all. Had to baby it coming off of idle and getting up to cruising speed, then it ran great. I had the carb off of that bike so many times to clean it that I could do it in my sleep. Although it got minimally better, it still was almost un-rideable. Finally, during one of the carb tear downs, I decided to run a very tiny copper wire through all of the jets and every passage that I could find. Low and behold, I could not get the wire through one of the ports even though it was small enough that it should have gone through. This was a port that I had sprayed with carb cleaner a dozen times. That channel was totally blocked by a hardened scum that carb cleaner could not dissolve. I went to the local auto parts store and bought some really potent cleaner....had to buy a gallon and it wasn't cheap. Can't remember the name any more, been too long. I wouldn't be surprised if you can't even get it anymore due to EPA, etc. Stuff stunk to high heaven, and I had to wear heavy duty rubber gloves when handling it. Anyway, soaked the carb body and all parts in it overnight. Next day I was able to run my small copper wire through all jets and passages and get it thoroughly clean. End of problem, the scoot ran like a new one. Your problem may not end up being like this, but just wanted to pass it on in case it helps. Good luck!
  25. Personally, I would be more leery of the dealer than of the bike. Any dealer - even a used bike dealer - who doesn't have enough pride in his inventory to put a new rear tire on it and change all the fluids before offering it for sale seems to be a pretty low-quality dealer to me. I would look elsewhere, not because of the bike but because of the dealer.
