  1. Where do you get your figures? According to the article, which used MSRP prices for all of them, the RSV is only a couple thousand less than the Harley. Show me where I can buy a new RSV for half the price of the new Harley and I'll do it. Joe
  2. Kevin, I have a stock windshield that you can have if you stop by and get it. Not the best shape but good enough until you get another one. And we're kinda almost nearly just about right on your way home! Joe
  3. When Kevin and Sue stop in, you might want to remind him of the "fine" for dropping your bike! I think if there is damage when you drop it, the fine doubles!!:D
  4. More here: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?threadid=38792 And here: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?threadid=38782
  5. Dennis, Any idea of what happened to cause his windshield to break? This isn't another situation like James Ardrey had is it? Joe
  6. What shocked me was that the bike that they hammered for too much engine noise including unacceptable levels of "gear whine" was NOT the RSV!!!! I'd be willing to bet that mama Yama made very sure that the bike they got for the test was a "non chirper"! Joe
  7. Put this weekend on your calendar....we'll be hitting a lot of that area. It is the first weekend in October. Not a lot of detail yet, still working on the exact routes, meeting places, eating places, etc., just want you to have time to plan for it. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?threadid=38635
  8. Ahhhhh......I didn't interpret it that way, but in rereading it I see that it could be. Thanks. Joe
  9. I may be wrong, but I doubt that this service is a covered warranty item. It's like having to replace tires or change oil.....it is a regularly scheduled maintenance item, not a defect that must be repaired. Good luck. Joe
  10. A permanent fix: Buy a 2nd Gen. They don't have a VOX feature at all. Music never mutes when you talk. Wish I had a vox-enabled system, and NO I don't want to step down to a 1st Gen to get it! Joe
  11. Dave, Don't have all the details worked out yet, but premliminarily thinking of Hwy 62 West out of Corydon, then south on 66 around to Tell City and looping back up to 62 for one ride. Another possible route would be going north on 135 up to Nashville, then down 46 toward Bloomington. Would hit French Lick and possibly the Shoals area....good riding. More details later..... Would be great to meet up with you! Joe
  12. Dang....I'm usually too late. So this time I decide to start earlier, and now you tell me I'm too early! A fellow just can't win! Joe
  13. I have a trailer for sale if interested: http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php/product/2225 Thanks Joe
  14. And that would tickle me to death! Joe
  15. Nice job of photo editing! I keep clicking back and forth between two and three....can't make up my mind which I like better. Not ready to paint mine yet. Joe
  16. So, is this an addition to the stable or a replacement? If replacement, which one is going to be put out to pasture? Inquiring minds want to know! Joe
  17. OK, after talking to a couple of the local riders, I'm going to go ahead and set it for the first weekend in October. Get it on your calendars! Come on you Kentucky and Ohio and even Illinois riders. Let's make this a big one. The riding season won't last long after the first weekend in October, this will give you memories to hang on to during the winter! Joe
  18. Yep, go to those places at least annually. Great stuff. Joe
  19. I'm beginning to plan a weekend in Southern Indiana for anyone who may be interested. We had such a great time in Lexington Ky over Memorial Day, and several of the Ky folks mentioned that they'd be interested in a Southern Indiana ride. I'm from Northern Indiana (the FLAT and straight part of the state) but have ridden Southern Indiana a lot in the last 5 years. Willing to share the great routes that I know, and willing to have others pitch in with their routes if they'd like. Anyway, I am thinking of either the first or second weekend in October. We'd meet up on Friday evening for dinner, have a full day ride on Saturday and another on Sunday. Folks could come for both days or one....whatever your preference. OK....who would be interested? Any preference on the weekend? Let's hear from you!! Joe
  20. Curious if anyone has tried to mount the passenger grab bars from the 2nd Gen Venture on a Tour Deluxe???? Seems that the 2 bikes are similar enough that they may fit. That would be an ideal solution IMO. If so, you can usually find some at Pinwall Cycle Parts in Ohio (on ebay). Good luck Joe
  21. First thing I'd check is the battery voltage with the start button depressed. It may be good with no load, but possible that it has no capacity to deliver starting voltage. I've seen it happen on brand new batteries. Joe
  22. I just posted a set of Barron's Nasty Boyz 4-2-4 mufflers in the classifieds if interested.... Thanks.
  23. Such a small price to pay in order to help out your brothers and sisters at VR.O......shocked that you are unwilling to pay this small price! Joe
  24. Great article with pictures! [ame=http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=13263]Rear Hub Lubrication - VentureRider.Org[/ame] Also, read this tech service bulletin and pay close attention to the reassembly info: [ame=http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1705]Rear End Noise - Yamaha TSB - VentureRider.Org[/ame] Joe
  25. It's more than likely dry drive pins. You'll have to pull the rear wheel, remove the circlip that holds the drive hub into the wheel (probably have to clean off some grease/gunk in order to see it), and pull the hub out. The pins get dry and rusty and then start making that clicking noise. You will need to clean the pins, remove rust if present, also clean and de-rust the holes that the pins fit into. Then use a good grease...Honda Moly 60 is recommended....to lube and then reinstall. Good luck! Joe
