Is your bike a 2nd Gen? Are those places selling stators and regulators for the RSV? I wasn't aware of them.....

Stebel horn mounting
FreezyRider replied to GOODWRENCH's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
When I had my Goldwing I mounted one on the inside of the fairing. It was still ear-shattering! I think that having it up that high may actually be better.....it seemed to be every bit as loud as the one on my RSV, mounted in the standard location behind the right floorboard. -
Any further word on these bags?
-
HECK, I wouldn't care where they are mounted......did anyone see the price on that bike?? Dang, $4500 is a great deal for a 2001 even with 88k. Where is that bike? Edit.....Never mind, I see it is in the Atlanta CL. Dang....so far.

eBay links
FreezyRider replied to FreezyRider's topic in Computer help and tips for using this site.
Only the last one works for me. The others still take me to a home page for ebay. -
For some reason it seems that when people post links to an item on ebay, they do not work anymore. Not sure when this started, maybe a month ago or so.... Clicking on the link just takes me to the ebay home page. I have tried this on several links posted on this site, plus I have tried it on both of my computers at home and on my computer at work. In addition, I have tried it with IE8, Firefox, and Chrome browsers....same thing. Are others experiencing this? Here is a sample. Blinker Lens Screw?
FreezyRider replied to bmxndad's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
They are Phillips head, and yours are stripped out. Mine were getting that way too, I almost couldn't get one of them out a couple weeks ago when I needed to change a bulb. They are just way too soft and strip easily. I ended up removing all of mine, went to a local ACE Hardware and got stainless steel replacements. They actually looked nearly identical, but the heads were just a wee bit larger. Had to run a file around the outside edge of the heads to make them fit right. Didn't take much. Joe -
My wife and I both have a set of insulated wind pants and jackets, bought them at K-Mart 2 seasons back. Pants were $17 each, jackets were $12 each. Figured $29 a set was worth a gamble, and it turned out to be an AWESOME investment. I routinely ride in 30 degree weather with those items covering my jeans and riding jacket. And I stay completely comfortable. IMO you can't beat 'em for the cost. Except that you don't look "biker cool" while wearing them!

Now THAT will draw some eyeballs! Good Job!

CB goes on the left as you are sitting on the bike. -
I need clutch help...
FreezyRider replied to a topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Ya know, what James says makes a lot of sense. If it went to the dealer with no slip, then came back home slipping.....that does point to a possible problem with the wrong type of oil. Maybe they put Energy Conserving oil in it and that is the problem. I certainly hope not. I have heard cases of that exact thing happening, and then it takes 4-5 oil changes to "undo" the problem. final drive gets hot
FreezyRider replied to Chezley's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
That sounds about normal to me. I'd expect some heat to be generated, particularly since the exhaust pipe on the left side is so close to the final drive housing. I don't think there is anything to worry about. Joe -
I need clutch help...
FreezyRider replied to a topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Hey Patrick, Another thing.....once you get this spring from me, you may want to use both the old and new spring together. Others have done this and it really makes a stiff clutch. Maybe too stiff for your hand, I don't know...... Just an option. Joe -

Inexpensive rear shock
FreezyRider replied to remmertb's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I looked it up on their site (using a 2000 Venture) and it shows $503.58. Where do you see it for $426? Joe- 26 replies

FreezyRider replied to remmertb's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The stock shock is available from Partshark.com for $517.15, about the same as what you paid. Either price is atrocious for a shock absorber, IMO.- 26 replies

I need clutch help...
FreezyRider replied to a topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Not sure about the spring setup that the 1997 TC uses, but I have a used stock spring from a 1st Gen Venture that you can have if it will help. Somebody know if they are the same? From the drawings, they look pretty similar. Joe -
From reading prior threads regarding the CB-err message, it seems that some were solved by splitting the fairing and unplugging each of the audio system connectors, filling them with dielectric grease, and reconnecting. If memory is correct, if the above procedure does not help, then either the controller itself or the cb radio could be faulty.

Larry, I'd like a set too. Let me know when they are ready. I have a feeling that you better make a boatload of these puppies. And, if you list them on ebay you may have a full-time job! Joe

Trailer Hitch on Ebay
FreezyRider replied to Freebird's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Guy's name is Roy, goes by Venturedad. However, I see his membership has expired. Here's his website: http://www.venturedad.com/ I had one of his hitches on a previous bike...nothing but quality! And he is a great guy to deal with too. -
Way to go, Brad (and Ponch!). I'd say your new employer will discover what a lucky day this was for them, too! Joe

Or, if you want to stay with Syn but don't like the Amsoil prices, you might try the Rotella 5w-40 Syn (in the blue jug). It's about $20 per gallon at WalMart. Works great for me.
