Dude, you are in for a treat! We go there - Lexington area - every year at Memorial Day. What an awesome area to ride. Geez, I am envious! Joe

And the real "poor man's" front suspension fix is to spend about $120 for a set of progressive springs. Takes maybe 30 minutes to change them and is a vast improvement.....at least they were on my GL1500. I will be going that route on my new to me 1800 shortly along with disabling the anti-dive. I know it isn't as good as the others mentioned by Snarley Bill, but then it isn't as $$ either and still a big improvement. Hey Bill, just curious.....have you done anything about the wimpy rear shock? That is actually the weakest part of the suspension link on mine. With 67,000 miles on it, it bottoms on the least little bump even with the preload at 25. Joe

Steve, I remember hearing a transmission that I couldn't understand. Neither did Donna. Didn't know who or what it was, just forgot about it. Hmmm.....wonder where it came from? Yeah, now that you reminded me, I do still have that map. Just forgot it. Thanks! BTW, Donna and I have a collection of barn pix too. Like you folks, it started with Donna, now I'm looking for them too. Kinda infectious isn't it? We admire your "eye" for the good ones, that takes some artistic tendency Joe.

Wow Steve (Irene too) those are some awesome pix. I know I teased you a bunch about the ride through the boonies on the way down, but I'm glad we went that way....and that you documented it so well. Irene really has an eye for the neat old barns! Did anyone document the route down to I75? It would be nice to have a GPS route of those roads. Joe

Here is a link to my 2003 with 67,000 on it. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/vbpicgallery.php?do=view&g=2482 Anyone want to buy the Diamond custom seat that is shown on it? Too tall and far back for this shorty.

:sign yeah that: It's getting boring looking at my own pictures!

Harry, We were all blessed to have you there. You added a lot to our camaraderie and I hope we meet again. Joe

Have a fun and safe trip, Kevin. And try to stay dry for once!

I have them. Not overly thrilled with them. They do help in the super high temps as air can flow and keep you cooler. I can only sit on them for about an hour though and then have to change. Got mine from http://www.cyclemaxohio.com Look at the misc section. Good price. Some people buy from Walmart and then cut them down to fit. I like them precut. Having said all that, Walmart sells a gel seat pad from a company called Ultimate Relaxation (sometimes marked Ultimate Comfort). It has a "waffle" shaped gel inside a fabric cover. They only cost $20 and are the absolute best pad I have ever experienced. My butt sighs a happy sigh whenever I sit on it. Joe

I really like this one http://cyclemaxohio.com/inc/sdetail/5892 but I can't justify the expense when I already have one made by Ultraguard that is very very similar to the Kury shown in one of the previous posts. I saw one of these leather looking ones once and it is nice.

I have the 780T, same basic unit. Can't tell them apart visually. This is my 4th GPS, best one I've had. Best sunlight readable screen of the 4 without doubt. Fast calculation of routes, great satellite reception. Really like it.

Thanks, Don! Now I don't feel quite so much like a black Sheep!!
-
That is why I run Rotella Synthetic which is 5W-40. It is the quietest I have found. If they made a 5w-30 syn I'd probably try that too.

Almost takes your breath away the first time you snap that throttle open, doesn't it. Dang thing is gonna get me in trouble if I don't get over that new-found thrill.
-
Just for removing the clutch basket. You can replace springs and disks without it. Joe

When I joined VR.o I had a GL1500 Goldwing but was looking at the Venture. I joined just so I could ask questions. Then I got hooked on the people here. They truly didn't care what mc I rode, took me in just like a brother....albeit a "black sheep" brother! Not really, no one even asked about the GW unless they were truly interested in details on the bike. Never felt pressure to buy a Venture. Later I did buy a Venture, had trouble selling the Wing, decided to sell the Venture. Did that, a year later I bought another RSV and this time did sell (gave away almost) the Wing. After a year with the Venture I finally have accepted the fact that I am a Goldwinger at heart, so the RSV is now for sale and a GL1800 occupies the position of honor (under my gluteus maximus). But I will never leave this wonderful organization no matter whether there is a separate section for Wings or not. I'm staying until I'm driven out with whips and torches, dagnabbit, and you're just going to have to like it or lump it!!!!

Well, all I got to say is..... It's a good thing he didn't ask how many NUMBNUTS we have here.
-
Well, the simple facts are these.... Even if you have no social connections on the Internet, I know how to find just about ANY information about you that I could ever need. Want me to email your Name, Address, and a map to your house to you? Want me to email your SSN to you? Along with your income? All I have to be willing to do is spend a rather small amount of money and I can find that information in less than 24 hours. Let's face it folks, there is NO such thing as privacy anymore.

Mine is in my DETACHED garage. So burning my house won't get it, thankfully. BTW, you evidently haven't heard.....the 1800 Wing is fast enough to outrun the fire!

Thanks! She's in my garage now, had a nice 84 degree, 3 hour ride home on her today. Wow! So far, I'm thrilled. What POWER....smooooth power. And it seemed like every curve I took, the bike was saying "Is that all you got, sucker?" This could get me in trouble!! I'll post some pix tomorrow evening. Joe- 35 replies
