I'm betting that they erected that arrow sign shortly after Bobbie arrived.... http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y262/venturerider/Sleeperhawk%20Mechanics%202010%20Gatlinburg%20ME/IMG_1109.jpg

I once tried to use the on board compressor to inflate a tire on my old 1500. Don't go there. It is sooooooooo pathetic it would have taken an hour to get over 20 lbs...... Buy a 12v compressor at WalMart. They are much faster (though still slower than a large air compressor) and don't take up that much room.

Wow. The Star is imploding...... How sad. MSRP over $20k.....wow, what are they thinking???
-
Well, in my opinion....unless he lied in his listing, he owes you nothing. There is absolutely nothing wrong with someone listing an item for more than it sells for elsewhere. It is the buyer's responsibility to know what he/she is buying. Let me ask you a question.....if you had purchased it for $30 and then found it selling elsewhere for $60, would you have contacted him and offered to send him an additional $30?? I doubt it. I have made the same mistake. It doesn't feel good to realize that you paid too much. Not arguing that at all. However......It is NOT the seller's fault.....again, unless the ad was misleading or untruthful. JMO

I moved my bars back 1.5 inches, and up .5 inch (going by fuzzy memory, but that's pretty close). Made all the difference in the world. Another comfort item I forgot to mention is the backrest.....don't leave home without it!

One thing to remember.....there is no way to compare the comfort of one motorcycle that has been "set up" for it's owner to another motorcycle that already fits 'you'. My Wing is set up for me. I have taken pains to do that....handlebar risers, foot pegs properly spaced for ME, and a WalMart gel pad on my standard seat. I recently put in an 800 mile day....no sore butt, no back ache...admittedly tired and ready to get off. My longest day on either of my RSV's was 475 miles, and I was exhausted. Not sore, but exhausted. I didn't realize until reading SilvrT's post above, but he is exactly right. It takes more energy to pilot an RSV than it does a Wing. A friend of mine who rides a Vulcan 2000 rode my wing and said he couldn't believe how effortless it was. Just think and it seems to go where you want it to. Any motorcycle needs to be properly setup for the person who is riding it if you want the most comfort. True for the RSV and for the Wing.

Good thing cameras are now digital! The Mechanic would spend the price of a new bike on film every year......

Wow, if he could hear clearly at 78mph, they must have changed the hardware somehow. They still look identical to the ones I bought. Wish mine worked that well....

Red Green would be proud....

Beware..... I bought these over a year ago, used them for a couple months and then gave up in frustration. Notice that they are said to work well up to 120kph.....my experience is that anything over 55-60 mph and they are virtually impossible to hear. I had them mounted to my fullface/modular helmets. Wired sets work fine in those helmets, but these are just too hard to hear at highway speeds. That said, they did work well at lower speeds. Also, please note that you cannot use cb or the bike's audio system with these. Your phone has to be bluetooth capable. Battery life was excellent. I can ride all day (8-10 hours), recharge at night and you're good to go.

I must not be understanding what you are saying.....surely a battery reading 12.5 volts is not only 50% charged. That would mean full charge is 25 volts! I almost had a battery explode when my regulator went bad and let full voltage run to my battery (Goldwing). And that full voltage was only 17 volts. Battery bulged, smoked, got so hot that I had to wear 2 pairs of leather gloves to remove it. What am I missing here?

Don, Sorry, my intention is not to get political. Notice I said 100% of Congress.....They all know we can't spend more than we take in without creating a crisis. I don't see that as political at all, just common sense. If you disagree I will delete the post. Or you can, no problem. Edit: Even though I don't think the post was political, after rereading it I decided to go ahead and delete it. By saying what I said, I did offer an opportunity for someone to make it political if they wanted to....and I don't want to get something like that started. Mea Culpa

I also have the 780. Love it. It has every feature I'll ever use or need.....except for the waterproofing. But, I can't see paying $400 extra for that one feature. Mine has been in light rain and had no problems. I do carry a sandwich bag to put over it if I get into a goose-drowner. Hard to beat it for the cost involved.

Some new thoughts on clutch basket whine
FreezyRider replied to straycatt's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The baskets are identical. I bought a 1st Gen basket through eBay with the intention of installing it in my RSV (before I sold it). The seller did a terrible job of packing it, and it was broken in shipment. Seller made it right with no arguments, but I never bought a second one. I did do a very thorough physical comparison, counted teeth, took some measurements. They are the same. I wish someone would actually try this, it would be interesting to see if it cures the problem. Actually, I don't believe that it will. It is my opinion that the only way to cure it would be to change the internal drive gear to be a perfect match with the basket. -
I agree with the GooseMan. Just make sure you install the restriction valves in the lines so that you can control the needle bounce. You can get a very accurate sync with the gauges. JMHO.

My long lost brother!!!! Wow, I'd about given up hopes of finding you. Please make sure that your twin brother is a major beneficiary in your will!

Congratulations! You won't regret the move. And, as others have stated, you should average around 40 mpg. My 03 has 79,000 miles on it, and I have added the risers as well. Not hard to do at all, and they make a huge difference for me. Last month during my trip to/through Colorado, I got 47.8 mpg on one tank of gas. We were running in the mountains, very curvy and technical roads, so average speed was only around 45 mph. I was shocked when I filled up and calculated my mileage. Welcome to the "red-headed step-child" group on VRO!!! We will accept you even though you are one UGLY dude!

Need opinions on Whirlpool Duet Front Load Washer and Dryer
FreezyRider replied to Midrsv's topic in Watering Hole
Dennis, My son works in appliance/kitchen cabinet sales at Lowe's. He has attended factory training for every brand that Lowe's sells. He will not allow me to buy the Whirlpool units. Says they are known throughout the industry for cheap components and shoddy workmanship. Whenever someone expresses an interest in buying Whirlpool he is honest with them and tells them what he knows. He recommends either the LG, which is a better unit, or ideally the Samsung units. We have the Samsung and I couldn't be happier. Very quiet, very low water consumption with huge load capacities, very well built. They are about 1.5 years old, no issues at all, they just work. Joe -
Lynn.... Who is your cell phone provider, and what kind of phone do you have? If you have a smartphone with a data plan, you can use "tethering" software to connect your cell phone's data plan to your computer and use that for your Internet provider. I have done it and the speed is amazing IF you have 3G coverage. PM me for more info if you are interested. Joe

I think he is saying that he is looking for those parts for his bike. Since his first language is not English, I'm guessing here....

Tom, Put them on, NOW!! You won't regret it. Do you also have the mirror wings? They are really the icing on the cake. They remove so much of the buffeting that your passenger feels.....or in the fully open position they direct a ton of cooling air right at your chest. I love mine. Someone else here said that he didn't like the looks of them. For me, they just keep getting better looking the more I use them! Joe
