I have one of the Carbon_One originals (without legs) that I will sell for $40 plus shipping if your friend is interested. Used about a half dozen times.

Well, I don't think I ever even hinted that YOU ripped her for messing up the words. However, if you read the entire thread, you will see that some people did. I was just trying to remind all of us that none of us is perfect. We all can and do screw up. And usually, when I do it, it is in front of a bunch of witnesses!

We really don't know if she'd have forgotten the words if she was just singing it straight, or even if she would have gotten them right with a teleprompter. We're just guessing. One thing I do know is how badly I have muffed the words to songs when I have the lyrics right in front of me. I'm telling ya, nerves can do wacky things. Don't get me wrong, as I said earlier I hate what is being done to our anthem as much as any of you. It's just hard for me to criticize someone for forgetting words. Been there, done that, agonized over it. Oh, and I absolutely HATE this style of music where you can't tell what the melody is supposed to be because they have 6000 notes per measure!! Makes me turn it off when I hear that stuff.

Let me first say that I also hate the way that modern "performers" try to personalize our National Anthem. Wanna do that to popular music? I'm ok with that....just don't do it to one of our country's national treasures. CA and the rest of these performers need an attitude adjustment. That said, I'd like to ask a question. How many of you have performed in public? In particular, how many of you have sang in public? Did you do it perfectly every time? Are you willing to bet your life that you would never forget words to the national anthem if you had to sing in front of millions of people? I sang publicly for many years. Never did get completely over the "nerves" associated with this. Even though I'd like to be able to puff my chest out and assure everyone that I would never forget the words to our anthem....I know better. Nerves can make you forget your mother's name! I agree with the calls to return to the original style of the anthem, but I also think we need to cut a little slack to someone who forgets or mixes up the words. It ain't easy, don't knock others until you've done it yourself. JMO,

Cheap Android tablet (Nook Color)
FreezyRider replied to Midrsv's topic in Computer help and tips for using this site.
No, Honeycomb is Android 3.0, Gingerbread is 2.3. This confusing came about several months ago when Google was talking about 2 new releases at the same time but had only released the word Honeycomb at that time. -

I would ask for proof that this is Yamaha's stance and not just the dealer's crooked policy. Tell them to give you Yamaha's written directive that this is necessary....or, if they cannot give that to you, tell them you want the name/phone number of the district or regional rep that gave them that information. Do not roll over and play dead. If they find out that you are not going to accept what they tell you at face value, my guess is that their story may change. Oh yeah, like someone else said....post the name of this dealer. Got an email address for them?? Several thousand emails from VR members may soften their stance....or at least be a major pain for whoever handles their email. -

Well, Dennis.......look what you went and got started!! Get us all riled up and then run off to work and hide. :rasberry: We seriously need some riding weather!!! -
You lucky dog! I would LOOOOOOOVE to have a 350 Bighorn! Knew a guy who had one back in '73, that bike had crazy low-end torque....at least back then it did. Great memories of that bike, I have occasionally scoured ebay and craigslist for them. Everything I'd find was either a basket case or they wanted a mint for it. Remember to post some pix when you're done!

I do not dislike Apple for making quality hardware. I actually like their hardware. My son owns a Macbook Pro....nice device. However, I despise Apple's controlling attitude, telling me what I can and cannot do with my device. Yes, I know about jailbreaking. Tell me, (and I am asking out of ignorance, not out of snottiness) what is Apple's response to someone who jailbreaks their iPad or iPhone? If they find out (like when you attempt to sync or use iTunes) do they do something that will disable the jailbreak? I do seem to recall, in the early days of the iPhone at least, that people who "rooted" their phone ended up with an expensive paperweight after logging in to the iTunes store. Does this still happen? Does Apple care how you use your device? Those are the types of things that make me angry with a company. When I buy a product (not a service, an actual product) I should have the right to change it without the company removing my right to use it in the way I see fit. Let's not get heated about this....not my intention at all. I'd hate to have to see Don add iPad vs Android as one of the subjects that is off limits on this forum! I think it is just inevitable that some people will be fans of one brand, others will prefer something different. You like Harleys and Ventures. I like Ventures and Goldwings.....not so much HD's! But, we can still get along, right? -

Guess my point is more about the $$$ for all that. A $150 Android tablet includes those capabilities. The iPad? Give Apple more money. To each his own I guess. I use my tablet as a playground and a learning tool. I like to mod it out to the max, just to see if I can do it more than anything. Kinda like adding accessories to my bike.....I want to make it mine. Don't want it to be like everyone else's. I think I'd be bored with an iPad. You can do what it is configured to let you do, no more. With an Android device the sky is the limit. Yeah, I realize that I'm not in the majority....a vast majority don't want to root their device....don't even want to know what that means. They just want to turn it on, touch an icon and do what it allows. For those, an iPad is fine if money is no object. But not for me.....(and money IS an object). -

Android does NOT equal Motorola. Yes, Motorola does use Android on some products, but so does Toshiba, Samsung, Velocity, Coby, Archos, and a dozen other Chinese manufacturers. That Coby pad may be OK, but I would not buy it for one simple reason....it runs Android 2.1, not 2.2, and who knows if it is capable of 2.2? Maybe it is, I haven't researched it. Does seem odd though, doesn't it.....a $150 tablet that has an HDMI port so you can watch your videos on your HDTV....plus a USB port....plus a flash card slot....And how much is the iPad with those features??? What??? They don't exist even on the $800 model? -
NEED ADVISE!! Found 2001 RSV for $5000 w/12,000 mi. !!!!

Ride it. If it doesn't "scream" (clutch whine/chirp) in an offensive way, then it would be a good buy IF it has been properly maintained over the last 10 years. Since it hasn't been ridden much you would want to check the tires (make sure they are "fresh", not just good tread), probably change all fluids including brake/clutch, antifreeze, rear end oil, engine oil, and remove the rear drive so you can clean the drive pins and grease the splines. Is this the green/silver color? My personal favorite.... -
Words of wisdom.....buy it, you won't regret it.

A local guy has 157,000 on his 2001. Runs great, drives/rides nice. No problems that I know of. I think it really depends on the maintenance that has been done on it. I had a 99 that I bought with 47,000 on it, it was "loose" compared to this guy's 01, and the electrical system had been hacked to death....stuff wired in everywhere, and not done properly. Just ride it before you buy it and see how it runs/rides/etc.

The American Voyager Association is a good forum, has tons of information. I think you'll find that most owners really love that bike....dependable, fast, low center of gravity. Check it out: http://www.amervoyassoc.org/

Seems like Dave actually did NOT pay anything up front.....he just signed an agreement to pay if Yamaha denies warranty coverage. Pretty standard stuff these days I'd say. -
Sorry, I can't see an 800 mile day on that. Especially fully loaded and 2 up. That's not a Venture replacement. That said, it does look like a fun "adventure touring" bike and I'd like to see one in my garage!
