HEY BILL!!! Where you been? This is the first I have seen anything from you in a long time. Hope everything is going well for you and Linda. Joe -
Don, With the new Droids, you don't even need to buy PDAnet. The phone comes with USB Tethering, and Verizon does not charge extra for it. If you use their built in Wireless Hotspot feature they DO charge you. Guess they aren't worried about USB tethering since you can still only use one device when you tether that way. Or you can do like me and root the phone (safe and easy if you get the right model) and then install the updated Wireless Tethering app built specifically for the new generation of Droids (Bionic and Razr mostly). Then you get to turn your phone into a wireless hotspot and connect multiple devices when you want to. Just wanted you to know. Joe

You probably just need to clear the cache. Go into Tools, then Internet Options, then click the Delete button and get rid of all temp files and cookies.

Some years back I deleted 4 or 5 posts all at one time. The farmer who owned that fence wasn't too happy with me either........ :whistling:

I just got my new Droid Bionic on Friday. Had the original Motorola Droid for two years......time to upgrade. I debated between the Razr and the Bionic. The battery was the deciding issue for me. If your battery dies after 13 months it will cost big bucks to replace if you own the Razr. Not so with the Bionic. And I am stunned by this Bionic. Gorgeous screen, blazing fast and smooth, lighter than my OG Droid too. Battery lasts longer than my other one too, which is surprising with this huge display. loving it so far.

Dan, You simply cannot imagine how great it is to see your signature on a post! Welcome back, get all healed up soon, and let's eat somewhere! -
Saw this today on TigerDirect for $70. And that price includes free lifetime map updates, which normally cost more alone than this price. Good starter unit anyway: http://biz.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1583005

Congratulations, Bull. I had a 1500 wing for 6 years, did all maintenance myself. Got to know her pretty good. If you have any questions or issues let me know and I'll help all I can. Loved the Old 94, she was almost like family. You'll love yours too!! Joe

Air Bag versus No air Bag ... you be da judge

Wow..... I think I need to start saving up for an airbag equipped model. Stunning! -
Those ping times are superb. Definitely eliminated that as the issue. Ping times measure the time it takes for the site being contacted to respond to you....in other words, the "delay" time caused by the path your data packets have to take. So, at least between your house and the speedtest location that you contacted, there is virtually no lag. One possible problem eliminated.
-
Jack, I don't know which speed test service you use, but try using speedtest.net and look at the ping times. They should be under 100ms, and the farther under the better. Compare those times with your wife's computer and see if they are within reason. Note that the times will vary a bit each time you run it (normally). Post your times and let's see they indicate anything. Joe

Possible solution for the high cost of prescription drugs
FreezyRider replied to CaptainJoe's topic in Watering Hole
I learned a long time ago that when a Dr talks about a newly released drug, that is just another way of saying $$$$$$. However, many times the Doc will give you free samples if you ask for them. At least mine will. -
Here is a link to the ones I always used. I felt they were brighter than the ones with the cut or fluted glass. http://www.tractorsupply.com/wagner-incandescent-sealed-beam-4416-bulb-0169545?zoneMarketInfo=2-28&reqUrl=TopCategoriesDisplayView&langId=-1&storeId=10551&lbzipcode=46733&catalogId=10001&ddkey

Pretty sure that is Kevin's. Indiana plates, and has the polished aluminum lowers on the front. Add in the wolf's head, and the fact that they were camping in that area on that weekend, and it is a pretty good circumstantial case for the Call's being GUILTY!!

One thing that no one has mentioned and I think is worthwhile to bring out... When I suggest to one of my riding buddies that they should wear a helmet, it's not because I'm trying to run his life, control him, dictate to him, conform him to my mold, etc. Not at all. And those are the things that most anti-helmet riders will immediately bring up. No, I say that because I CARE ABOUT my friends. I don't want to have to see any one of them lose part of their gray matter and lay on a bed for years like a vegetable. I work in a nursing home. Believe me when I say that I am not afraid to die due to a motorcycle accident. I am TERRIFIED of laying in a bed for years and having someone feed me, bathe me, dress me, wipe my butt....I see it everyday and it is worse than death. All of us should have dealt with the possibility that we could lose our lives in an accident. I and my riding buddies all know that it is possible that any one of us could see another die while riding. We accept that....I think we have to accept that if we are going to be able to ride and enjoy it. However, none of us wants to see another's brains scattered all over the pavement. No way to prepare for that. Wearing a helmet may not save my life if the collision is severe....I know that. However, I do believe that wearing a helmet will decrease...maybe not totally eliminate....the odds of ending up as a vegetable and being a burden to my family and others who care about me. That's why I wear one. So, if you ever hear me say something about wearing a helmet, it's only because I care about you, not because I'm wanting to control you. I'll never say a word to you about a helmet if I don't care..... I am so thankful that we are discussing this reasonably, and that we'll even have the chance to hear from Dano himself about the issue someday. Even though I only met him in person once, there is a bond and a caring that formed from that one meeting and from sharing in the posting and membership here. Ride safe everyone. Hopefully we'll get a break from all of these accidents soon.

Haven't seen a post from Snarley Bill in a long time. I see that he was logged in about 2 weeks ago though. Anyone seen or heard from him? Just wondering if he's doing ok.... Joe

Smart Phone instead of GPS???
FreezyRider replied to maineventurerider's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
I have a Garmin Nuvi and a Motorola Droid. The nuvi is my choice when planning a long ride and wanting to build my own route. The smartphone navigation is pretty limited when you don't want to go the fastest OR shortest route, but want to travel the curviest most scenic routes instead. I can build my own custom routes on my pc then export those routes to my Garmin. Can't export them into my smartphone. However, if I am in a strange city and want to find a restaurant or other attraction, I use the smartphone's navigation. I can just speak to it, it finds what I want, and takes me there. And it is usually more accurate since it uses Google to do the search and then the most current Google maps to guide me there. If all of my navigation needs were limited to just the "best" way to get there (in Google's opinion) then I'd use only the smartphone. Having both devices is the best of both worlds IMO.- 19 replies
