  1. Puc me think you been swinging on that windmill again. With fall just around the corner heat from those Vtwins will be a welcome return. Anyway, just got back in from making my chicken strip a little thinner and straighten out some curves.
  2. Potato Gargle Potato......
  3. I call myself a biker enthusiast, growing up my neighbor had its share of Harley panheads later some Honda's, Triumphs and Nortons. Just grew up wishing I had enough to buy something on two wheels. Been riding on two wheels close too 50 years now. At the moment own three Harley's car is in the wife's name don't like being caged-in. BTW while you were at Colorado Springs was that Fort Carson? If so do they still have the RECONDO Training Center? I completed it back in the late sixties.
  4. If you want a new Venture it is what it is that said,, l'm sticking with what I got. I went with the Polaris Indian when they came out that was a mistake. May look for a low mileage Gen 2 trike latter on in life say at 80 plus or so just turned 70 and still enjoy carving the twisties with the best of them.

    Eclipse

    New Venture no V4 interesting.......
  6. Very nice trike, really like the blue color. Does it come with a reverse motor? I would need reverse backing a trailer up.
  7. Lookin good Jeff, just like an engineer to use a computer keyboard as a prop for the carburetor. Again nice machine work there.
  8. Sounds a lot like the Kawa. Voyager 1700 I had for about a month hot and no power. Constantly downshifting with two people on board at every hill or incline. Thanks for the great write up Cowpuc it takes someone who knows bikes too evaluate one with unbiased opinion.
  9. They steer rough and are hard on goose neck bearings. That one wheel stuck out to the side is a game changer.
  10. Don, of course you know tuff times don't usually last but a tuff person as You do. So, get on that bike once in awhile if but too clear out that mind abit. Take care "Boss" we're thinking about you and your family.

    2018

Back in 09 I thought the 2nd Gen's were over priced that's why I went with a real nice 06 Midnight Special for $8200. Anyway a lot of 2nd Gen's have set at dealers for a couple years before selling. Yamaha good luck on selling this V Twin at 26 to 28k plus DOB and all the other rinkie dink out the door charges the Stealer tacks on to get at that 30k mark. Thers too many other V Twins with low miles for me to choose from.
  12. Oh good burn-out tire time to go have some serious fun.
  13. I can't believe Yamaha engineers didn't think of including hydraulic lifters in their engine design shame on them.
  14. If the front looks like the tire on the back -- Do yourself and us a favor replace both tires.
  15. Save yourself some rehab and restoration work on the bike buy a new set of tires.
  16. Cost savings measure to drop the shaft drive and V4 water cooled engine. More money for Yamaha less bike for the customers. That hot Yahama Moma will sell better in the fall anyway marketing strategy.
  17. 25k to 27k is a lot of money for a two cylinder Yamaha. Kinda believe the 3rd gens will be short lived without water cooled V4 engine that made Venture unique. I wouldn't give up one of my Harley's for one but I may have if it had a 1700 V4 under the tank.
  18. You're spot on with your calculations also believe the Honda 3.08 was used in your installation.
  19. I like it a lot, I bet with the chain drive you could get up on that peanut tank and melt that back tire. Imagination and creation coming together there wish it was closer to me. Thanks Cowpuc.
  20. Don't know much about a .50 cal sniper rifle had a lot of experience shooting a .50 cal auto at 500 to 600 meters mounted on a ring mount tracked personnel carrier. One them things that happens in life that only occurs then and only then. Would I do it again in a heart beat . Awesome power and adrenaline rush and living life to the max.
  21. I really like the style of the Polaris first Indians big fendors leather seat and handling characteristics. What I didn't like was hard shifting transmission and noises valve lifters. The heat from the engine in the summer was unbearable that's coming from someone who has two Harley's that are ridden daily. I had a 99 Victory with a 1500 engine that I've ran all Day before and could put my hand on the side of the cylinder without being burned. Polaris made a big mistake dumping the Victory oil and air cooled.
  22. You said you paid $4300 for an 08 Venture remarkable, and it had only 4K on it when you bought it double remarkable. Now it has only 7k. Want your $4300 back?
  23. Pressure washed and treated decks today......
  24. And I thought Don had cleaned up all the Riff Raft on this site, oh well I've already signed up for another year.
  25. If I was the guy in the truck I would definitely be looking for the two that wrecked me.
