  1. Hey Lewis,I'm interested..Post them up for auction.... Thanks for doing this. You da Man.......
  2. Well, people say that they get used to it...... I think that you need to rub the shingles on the damaged plastic.... Look at what those flying shingles did.....
  3. Oh,MamaMo,bringing up the diet thing just ruined the moment...
  4. Pretty good race.... Matt Kenseth wins the Super Bowl of Nascar... Sometimes ya gotta just be in the right place at the right time.... Any Nascar fans that are riding thru Southwest Wisconsin need to check out his museum and gift shop in Cambridge,Wi...just east of Madison,Wi...Alot of cool history..... Having said all that,I'm really a bigger NHRA fan,but it's good to see a local guy done good...
  5. Way to go Swifty.....
  6. :sign funny post: Sucking up for cheesecake is perfectly acceptable....... It's in the bylaws......Page 609
  7. If these will work and we don't need the slides, count me in for a set.....Thanks....
  8. I would say yes....... Especially after all the shingles landed on the bikes,right.......Those shingles are heavy and do alot of damage. Good luck buddy.....
  9. Metal roofs are more expensive..... They are nice, but they are noisy during heavy rain and hail.... If the roof is in good shape and you got the new shingles in place, and only having 2 tabs broke off and replaced, you should be ok..................I think I would still submit a insurance claim even though you repaired it yourself... A man's got to get paid for his time...
  10. I woudn't do it.I understand your thinking, but if you repair it right, you won't need to paint the roof.If you just replaced the tabs,I would just make sure that the joints under the tabs are sealed up and you should be ok... I prefer to replace the whole shingle, rather then just the tabs because it is critical to make sure the joints are covered.Where the tab broke off has to be sealed also.. What pitch is the roof????? If it's a low pitch, and you end up having to reroof, consider going to 4" exposure to give yourself less chance of having shingles blow off again....4" vs. 5" will use more shingles, but will work much better...I'm also a big fan of "Ice and Water Shield" at the gutter line to prevent ice dams from working their way under the shingles and leaking in the house.Standard roll is 3' wide, but I always double it to get better coverage, especially on houses that have no overhang. I am also not a fan of staples....
  11. She called me a "Sissy".....[Note to self] call and schedule 6 more months of therapy. The lift is set up,but it has my son's go-cart on it and is in front of the crew cab, which is blocked in by the bike and 3 snowblowers all in parts...Oh ya,and the western snow plow that I'm rebuilding and the Cummins diesel that is being prepped to go in the crew cab. Too many projects and not enough time... My neighbor one upped me when he built his garage.2-story with a above ground car hoist.I dislike him very much... Wow,I can't believe she called me a sissy........ Ok,I'm going to take a bubble bath and have a glass of wine......
  12. Dan,sorry to hear about all the damage.Real glad you guys are ok..... As far as the roof, remove enough staples to pull back the good shingles so you can replace the shingles that are missing. Then fold over a layer at a time and renail...If you do it right, you should not have to use any tar....That is only used to cover up bad roof jobs. Good luck......If you have any ???????,let me know.........I should be around most of the weekend.
  13. Wow,those turned out good. Some more stuff to add to the list of things to do............ The list is getting longer by the week..... I may be wrenching more then riding this year...
  14. Peggy,I'm going to put a bullseye on it this year,so you hit Shari's side this time...
  15. :goodpost: Uncle,Uncle..............I give up..............:yikes: I have finally realized I can't keep up with the "Earl's" of the world, when it comes to repairing these old Ventures.... :D Heck,I can't even keep up with the "Jones's"................ That was a good write-up..I have added it to the list of things to do...Thanks buddy... [hanging his head in shame] he shuffles off to the garage to see if he can unbury the lift table to begin working on the bike.......
  16. Ya,Don gets a little testy when the cult members don't check in..:rotfl: Sorry to hear about the fall....I just know that your going to heal fast because summer's coming....
  17. I hope to have everything done on my bike, but I will help anybody else work on their bike. I usually only end up with a small box of leftover parts... Other then that,I plan to visit with everyone, work on my tan,and try to harpoon the pond monster..... :D And this year,I'm going to use Heineken for bait.......
  18. Great news......Now I don't have to buy one. er,ah,I mean I'm glad you like it and this will give us an excuse to come and visit, so you can show me how it works,so when I get mine,I'll know how to use it. Ya,that's what I meant..
  19. We were looking for a bagger because I finally convinced Shari that baggers aren't just for old people. We drove and sat on a bunch of Goldwings,Harleys and even a Voyager. She just wasn't comfortable on any of them.. We were on vacation in Rhinelander,Wi. and I was looking thru the little local paper and saw an ad for a Yamaha Venture..What the heck is that?????????????? I called the guy and he said it was kinda like a wing.He said it was just to big for him to move around after having rotator cuff surgery. He was in his late 70's...But he said the bike was at the local dealer and they were closed for the July 4th holiday. So we made plans to go up the following week to look at it...As soon as Shari sat on it,she started smiling and said,"this seat was made for my arse"..And after I rode it,I was amazed that a big bike could handle that well 2-up.... He was asking $2700 and we got it for $1900 as we were the only people to come and look at it because everybody else was looking for a wing. It had been dropped in his garage and at the gas station. His wife was happy he was selling it.So now we were the happy owners of a 1987 Venture with 17,000 miles and a couple of minor dings.. I was helping him clean out the bags and pulled out a Milwaukee Police Dept. jacket.. He was a ex-motorcycle cop..It turned out that he worked with a bunch of my Dad's buddies.....Small world... As I pulled out of his driveway with Shari behind me in the van,He was walking down the driveway with tear in his eye.Shari said that was one of he saddest things she has ever seen... It's been a few years, but we plan on going back up to see him and show him that his bike is in good hands.. I got on the interweb and found this site and the rest is history.. to be continued....... Thanks for the contest Don....
  20. Well,as of right now it's 52 degrees..I took my daughter to work and the roads are like rivers..So we are going to pass on riding today... I know, what a wuss....
  21. Alright,it looks like we are going to brave the ice on the driveway and take the bike out tomorrow in the 40 degree sunshine. We will be on the lookout for the target.:) Let's try to get this scavenger hunt rolling again... It seems that the northern Venture Riders have to carry this hunt even in the snowy winter wonderland..
  22. Lewis,we got our stuff today...Very cool........ Thanks for taking the time to do this..... You are the man...... Although I was a little disappointed that there was no bubble wrap in the box.. This would have kept Shari entertained for hours... :rotfl: OK,I know,I'm in big trouble now....
  23. After I post,I wait for my post to show up and then hit the new posts button and go from there.I guess it kind of refreshes it.
  24. What the heck.. I thought that was the reason Ron bought that strait jacket to keep you in check Peggy. .....
  25. I think that all of the name changers should have to pay Don a administration fee of $7.98 for this service.. Mo.Cupcake.................:rasberry: :D:D Who loves ya baby....
