Scott is 100% right on this...But before you gently squeeze the contacts together,take a small piece of sandpaper or emory paper,roll it into a small roll and twist it inside the contact area to clean up the contact area..This repair is a piece of cake.. -

Another way to see if your hitting on all 4 cylinders is to find a mechanic who has a non-contact IR thermometer and shoot all 4 pipes... -
On my standard,the valve is located just above the dampener adjuster...

Well,I looked at the pics that you posted and they were different then the pics that are nomally posted...They appeared to be in a album..There was a foward and back buttons at the bottom of your pictures...So I clicked on those and came up with some pretty interesting pics......:D:D

I came up with these.After I reviewed the big van rooftop ladder clamps,I don't think that they are feasible,even cut down..I was just thinking of trying to adapt that type of quick release clamp... If you could send me a pic of where you want your crutches mounted on your bike,that would help alot in the design process....I have a couple of more idea's...:cool10: I also included a pic of us....

Hey "Cupcake" now we know who wears the pants in your family..:crackup: Dale,all kidding aside,I think that you and Cindy handled this extremely well. Lesser people would have let their emotions overtake them.I can't even begin to imagine how hard this was for you to contain your rage and not kill this POS...
