Found this in the paper if anyone needs one it's $50.00 off.... One thing with mine I noticed is if it does not start jacking up if I put pressure on the forks Stand on one) it will start jacking or if that doesn't work it sometimes requires poping the realease a few times it will then start working. Anyone else run into this and did you fix it or like me just living with it? Torque Wrenches: 1/2 - 3/8 - 1/4 coupon is 1 for $9.99 so print 3 and use a different checkout line each time or bring the kids....

Anybody Upgraded Their Front Brakes?
PGunn replied to bongobobny's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Ok it is you then.... I'll work on the measurments, where do you want them based from, the axle centerline, the lower mount bolt for the adapter? I have all the tools needed to measure with so I'll get started tonight. -

Gary did you get the adapter mounts done yet? I have been looking for someone who has had or has the machine shop to do this in. I bought a set of R1 2009 6 pots already but getting someone to machine to adapter for a fair price is crazy. If you have it done and would be willing to make me a set what would a set cost? -
No I haven't but I would like to see what would happen. I'm not saying the differance is hugh but I would still like to see. I am looking at it thinking like a car. If you have 2 stock cars and on one you change, open the exhaust (remove the muffler add glass packs) and open the air cleaner there is a performance gain compared to the other car because of the unrestrictive air flow now.
-
I swapped out the stock air cleaner boxes and put on a matched set of hyper-chargers. Now I would do it again and yes takes a little tuning of the jets and metering rods and a set of stock Harley mufflers. I have a small flat spot that lasts around 2 seconds when stretching out 2nd the gear but put it up against a Harley with cams and open exhaust well to be kind they are close but no cigar when it comes to an all out run, I do not come in second. Also the intakes make more noise which reminds me of back in the 70's when you could hear that 750 bbl sucking wind. Understand you need to re-jet and open the exhaust (I even have a set of open Screamin Eagle mufflers for the bike but they are too loud for me) some to get the full use of the added breathing. Gas millage is still in the 43mpg range, but that depends on how much twisting you do. As with any mod until you do it you won't be sure if it is what you want. I did mine and bought a new set of filter boxes and cut them down to work as needed and the price for new ones wasn't all that much. These bikes are setup with the carbs lean and the intake just as leaned out. Open one you should open the other and once you get it close by re-jetting and such either re-tune the carbs (sync) or get it on a dyno. the dyno will tell you more as far as how much more or less to change but like I said I would do it again and the power difference I feel makes it worth it.

Now that you mention it rush hour, stop and go type traffic would drive the people behind you to the point of ignoring the brake lights. Having been stuck behind cars in traffic and having the brake lights coming on for every slow down I see your guys point thanks for the feed back.

Anyone tried one of these yet? I'm thinking of ordering one just to see if it works as he says. I am sure with some type of motion switch it could be done and it is a good idea. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Motorcycle-taillight-downshift-activator-only-99-cents-/120759940263?hash=item1c1dda74a7&item=120759940263&pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr

Yup thems the ones and someday I may make a set or see if anyone has them for sale.

I saw somewhere where someone (no really I did) screwed a 1" round piece of aluminum on to the risers where they extend into the current riser. You attach them so that the faring is connected to the handlebars were.

Thats true..... having had the tank off a few times already there really isn't all that much under there that would be cause for consern and if it is raining that hard driving would be out of the question anyways....

That was my understanding with the chrome cover but after seeing what a few of you have done with the "notching" it looks like a good solution. The only thing I am or would be concerned with is rain or the car wash water messing something up under there. Has anyone tried using a heat gun to warm up the cover in that area and moving or reshaping the cover so to avoid hitting it? I do realize this wouldn’t be an option on the chrome one but the black one I don’t believe it would hurt anything. I did this same thing on my trailer top (Sears cargo carrier) so I could put stainless railing around the top. I heated the areas where the base mount for the pipes would be so they would stand straight up and it gives me another place to store stuff on the trailer if needed and it adds a little to the looks of the trailer.

Yes they do and I don't know of any fix. One thing that is true don't put the chrome cover in place of the current black one if you plan on using them either.

I got my lift from Larry a short while back and this is the best "attachment" I have bought to date. Right off you notice no need to pay the shops to take the tire off the bike there by saving close to half the cost of the lift. Oil changes have to be a breeze and cleaning the bike a whole new chore...... If your thinking of buying one your wasting the time just but it it will save you a bunch of work in the long run.

OK I have the sending units installed for the electric gages with photos and parts lists. I put together a PDF with all the information included. I ended up with the water sending unit in the same place as all the others have with just one adapter mounted into the head. The oil pressure was a different story it was a little tough getting it into position but by no means imposable it's in the same area as the oil filter. I have attached a couple photos showing the sending units and where they are mounted / installed.

I am getting ready for the winter months and buying ahead for some upgrades and fixing stuff that was done in one manner and after looking at it found a better way to do it. Anyways I have been digging through the different sites and catalogs and came across the McMaster-Carr site and I'm in connector heaven here. I found almost every type of connector, plug, socket and sleeving one could want and at the right price... cheap. I know this is a contractors catalog and some of you guys may have been using these guys for years but for the less informed on where to buy folks this is a great site. I was looking for the stainless bradded sleeving and found it in various sizes from 1/4 up to 1 1/2 for very reasonable prices ranging from 2.10 - 7.38 per ft. As far as the connectors go it looks like the sky is the limit here. They also carry those hard to find Stainless steel screws and bolts in English and Metric thread. http://www.mcmaster.com/

I have a few ideas because I also am not a fan of running that oil line even though others have not had any problems with the exception of a melted line. Once I have it figured out I'll post some pictures for you. I also found the "Sensor Adapter Oil Water Pressure Temp M18x1.5 -1/8NPT on EBay for the water temp sensor the same guy has both for the water (M18X1.5 - 1/8 NPT) and the oil (M20x1.5 - 1/8 NPT). http://motors.shop.ebay.com/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l2736&_nkw=Sensor+Adapter+Oil+Water+Pressure

I am moving along here slowly checking all the posts seeing what improvements and others ideas are showing. I am at the point of doing the water and oil sensors install. So what I have done is purchase an adapter for the oil (Sensor Adapter Oil Water Pressure Temp M20x1.5 -1/8 NPT from EBay) now while looking around I noticed that there are sending units out there that may work without moving the sending unit somewhere else and I'm looking for some assistance. I have the Auto Meter 1 1/2 electric gauge set which has an electric 100 psi oil gauge with that big sending unit. Now I have found what I think may work as a replacement sending unit but I have a question about it. The units are made by Standard Tru-Tech I also found a cross reference from Mercury Marine which shown below (and here is where my question comes in) that the 0-80 psi sending unit (5 bar) and the 0-100 (7 bar) there is no difference. 0-80 psi.........0-100 psi (5-Bar)...........(7-Bar) psi ohms...... psi ohms 0 240............ 0 240 40 103......... 40 103 80 33.5........ 100 33.5 Does this hold true with all oil pressure sensors or is it gauge specific? I have attached a photo of the sensor style I would like to use because it would fit I believe with no issues and the chart (pdf) I got this info from.

From the site: USA, CANADA Y RESTO: 118 Euros + 5 euros de comisión Paypal. That works out to 123 euros = 169.6662 US dollars almost $70.00 more then these guys. I am also thinking of buying one seeing if I could chase the pin out down and compare it to the Clarion pinout on the CD drive worse case I would get sound only and if the USB would support a SSD I have a 35 gig drive just waiting for a project like this.

Found one of these for a Honda Goldwing (http://www.wiiki-tech.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1702&products_id=6567) it plugs into the radio replacing the the CD I think. Now I also emailed them requesting if they have one for the Venture and I am waiting to hear back. These go for 90.00 - 100.00 each which if they would be willing to make the connection into the cd plug on the Venture it would be a great option and upgrade to the bike. Now I'm thinking if a bunch of us were to make the same request from them they might just act on it. What do you guys think?
