  1. Mine wouldn't run for a bit after I washed it. Then, ran like crap till I think I found the problem. The end of my ignition wire, that is plugged in the coil was all green with corrosion. Nipped the end, and then it ran good. Week later, having the same problem, so now in the middle of tearing it down to check the other 3.
  2. I had the same problem after washing mine just last week. Took one of the ignition wires off, and it was all corroded. {coil end that contacts pin in coil}. Cut off a bit, then re-installed. Took it for a ride, and all was well again. Going to check the other 3 this weekend, and maybe use dielectric grease around fittings to keep moisture out.
  3. I only have 27K on my bike, and it runs cooler than yours. On a hot day, close to the red if not moving very fast. On the Hwy, closer to the bottom of the gauge. From what I can see, rad seems really clean.
  4. here is where I got my manual http://labs.trunkful.com/vrmanuals/8385servicemanual.pdf
  5. I have an 84 VR, and am wondering how many had the same mirror base. If enough people were interested, I am looking to have the base moulded, so I can mount any mirror. If you read this and are interested, can you spread the word (this could be cost effective) __________________

  7. I know of four right here in my town. All are 84's It's funny that you inquired about that, I was just wondering the same thing.
  8. Gas here in Nova Scotia is $1.31/L. Just got 14+L for $20. What a deal
  9. how true, how true
  10. After repairs, why are there always nuts and bolts left over?
  11. Finally got my 84 VR back together, and with the 9deg C weather yesterday, headed out for a little cruise. Looking out the window today.........different story. High winds are supposed to top 100 kms/hr, the ground is white, and its around the freezing mark. On the bright side, yesterday was the earliest that I have ever taken my bike out, and it seems to be running great. Hard to beat that NS weather. Anyway, next week looks better. Thanks for reading, I was bored, and just venting.
  12. well put my fellow canuck
  13. French people live in other places in Canada other than Quebec. I don't know why that makes a difference to some of you. A Yama filter is a Yama filter, no matter where it is sold. So, buy whatever you want.
  14. When you take the covers off, do it slowly. There is a very small O-ring which usually stays on the carb, but make sure you don't lose it. Also check the others to see if there is any missing, cause that can cause problems. The O-ring is about this big [O], seriously, but fatter
  15. Thanks, wiring is new. Just did this today, 4 new plugs, press start, and boom........motor purrrrrrrrrrrs to life. Took about 10mins to warm up, but sounded good. Finally!! Now all I need is a plate sticker, and I'm mobile:cool10:
  16. I had a couple of leaking diaphragms, and when you remove the covers, you should know which ones are leaking. Without even touching them. When you remove the cover, if the face of the diaphragm is wet, it is probably leaking, as they should always be dry on the cover side
  17. Yeah, plugs are bad. Did my test, and they are all sparking all over the place. Spark not going to the tip, mostly jumping over to the threads, and bouncing around alot. Anyway, just picked up 4 more. Hope and a prayer they work.
  18. Yeah, that sounds good
  19. I was looking to spark test my plugs while off the bike (84 VR). Outdoor temp has been around -3 to 7C, and I can't get my bike to start. Just did a whole carb overhaul, charged the battery. Plugs have only 3000kms on them. Bike turns over fine, and for long enough before battery too weak, but no start. Took plugs out, and they are wet, so getting gas. Anyway, I have a 10000v transformer, and was wondering if I hooked it up to a plug to see if it is firing, would or could it harm them? Any thoughts Also, would 10000v be enough?
  20. Sounds great to me:301:
  21. Sent you a PM, but not sure if the part is going to cost more to ship?
  22. If anyone is looking for a left mirror, I have a place for you to look. Also if anyone knows where I can find a right mirror that would be great. Contact this person. They are in BC, Canada. Good price $20. Good luck countrymotorsport@gmail.com
  23. Yeah, I just finished looking at that mod. Now, those two hoses are different sizes. Can I get a T that will work?
  24. Dingy: looked into it, and that is not the same hose, but thanks anyway PS: looked around some more, and think I found it under "cylinder head" part # 26H-1111J-00, but it shows 2 pipes required. On one site I looked at they were discontinued. Found it on another site for $15. Anyway, thats my 2 cents worth
  25. I am looking for the part number for the air hose from the crankcase to the breather box, which would be the larger hose.(back center of box) All diagrams I found only show one hose, which is the smaller one in the frone right corner. Can anyone help:fingers-crossed-emo Oh, I have an 84 VR. thanks
