  1. And mabey a little remodeling and cosmetic surgery if ya forget to put out your smoke. I plan on spliting my old grips with a razor knife as I REALLY don't like them and would not reuse them in any case.
  2. How much heat? I plan on doin alot of riding in southern Utah, Nevada and Arizona. Has anyone had a problem with the hairspray loosening in the summer sun. That would not be good. :no-no-no: BTW, where did you guys get that idea?
  3. I'll be dipped! Somehow I would never even considered Hairspray! As long as there is sufficient contact, I can't see why it wouldn't work. My wife is a cosmotologist. I'll have to see what she recommends. Makes me wonder about the gel stuff. Ya know that stuff that makes yer hair all stiff till ya comb it.
  4. What adhesives have you used to install grips? I don't like the adhesive that comes with the Kuryakyn set. Want durability, but want to take my time installing and don't want any in the throttle sleeve. Thanks, Dan
  5. Yup, They are unused Ventureline, but as Squidley says they are for the 83-85. They have found a new home and are on their way. Glad someone can use them. Thanks, Dan
  6. Does anyone have experience with the Helmet-Less headsets. Thanks, Dan
  7. PM sent back. BTW this is waht I have.
  8. A set of 83-85 Ventureline backrest mounting brackets, I have a set. I bought an NOS backrest set and but all I wanted was the whisbone. They won't fit the 93 so I have no use for them. Let me know, Dan
  9. Stardog, Thanks for the link. I've been looking at those on the net, but no-one around here carries them in stock. I'm a kinda pick-it-up and take it home kinda guy. Only use the i-net as a last resort. Crash, Thanks for the reply. I can buy the Chatterbox locally. The store guy says he hasn't sold many but has had no returns. Good to hear from someone with experience. Thanks, Dan
  10. Does anyone have any experience with the Chatterbox Headsets with the 5pin systems. Useability? Mount up nice? Sound quality? Dan
  11. Haven't seen that particular product before, but there are alot of similar products out there. This is an acrylic "Glaze". They do provide a relatively high gloss but that is assuming that you already have a smooth sealed finish to start with. The only way to bring a gloss to lacquer is to smooth the surface by polishing,(just like on metal) then a good wax to fill and brighten the surface. Hope that helps. Dan
  12. Yea Buddy, I sure can't say that they were the good ole' days! Done alot of that myself. (still operating a 44 year old shop) Do a couple of show cars a year, and I'm sure glad the urethanes have come as far as they have. Dan
  13. I'm not sure what "Crystal-Gol" is, but it sounds like one of the polymer polishes. Depending on how long the finish has been applied, it could have just the reverse result you are looking for. Laquers, even Acrylic are just a little bit porous and could have the effect of dulling the finish from within. (and that won't pollish out) Laquers like good old Wax (carnuba). Chat with the paint rep before you apply anything other than compound and wax:no-no-no: Dan
  14. Yep, Looks like you were answering as I was asking! Have ya tried "Rubbing Compound"? Laquer clears dry dull as the solvents evaporate very quickly leaving a coarse surface to the finish. In order to get the shine, you'll need to polish using varying grits of compound. If you have enough clear over the base-coat start with a course and finish with a finnese. If you have a low speed buffer (800rpm no greater that 1200rpm)that will save alot of "Elbow Grease" if you feel handy with it. I'm suprised that the folks at the paint store didn't caoch you about the process. Dan
  15. What type of material did you use? Acrylic Laquer? Acrylic Enamel? Arcylic Urethane? May have some advice depending on the material. Dan
  16. Don't forget the Blue Lock-Tight. Thanks for reminding me, I probably would have had to remember that stuff the "Hard Way". Thanks, Dan
  17. Finally got my Long Horn Offsets, Were on BO for awhile. I'm mounting them on my 93, and was wondering if anyone had mounted these on a 1st Gen before. They seem to have all the possible adjsutment anyone could want and I know I can find a comfy place for them, but would like to do it once if possible. Any photos would be appreciated. Thanks, Dan
  18. Good Evening Don, I have made sever attempts to attach a photo of my new (to me) Venture and so far have been unable to do it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Dan
