As the initiator of one of the threads, I feel that perhaps I did an injustice to the moderators. I know that they take no joy in removing a thread, and I am saddened that my actions caused them this stress. For this I appologize. That being said, I am a firm believer in the Constitution and individual rights and was thrilled with the SCOTUS decision. I just did not realize that the subject would generate such heated, emotional contension within the ranks. I too took the oath to "Protect and defend....." and from this point on, at least on this forum, I will do it quietly and refrain from posting any thought that might again generate political contension. To Don and the moderators, Thank you all for maintaining such wonderful place to visit. I really appreciate all your efforts. DJ

Think I Blew the left speaker last Saturday, so this Saturday will be work-not-ride day. Oh well. Remember someone replacing theirs with Pioneer from Wally's. I know what size, but wondered which model worked the best. Thanks, DJ:mo money:

If you have all of the insured's info, (redneck's name, driver's name, policy# etc.) Yes call immediatly. Contact State Farm Claims and file a claim. They will take a report and investigate the incident. Offer to supply them with a copy of the police report as it will take a couple of weeks for them to request and recieve one form the LEO office. He may have a clause in his policy about improper use of his vehicle, but if she was using his vehicle with permition, they will likley pay the claim. He may loose his insurance, but they should pay the claim. DJ

If you are looking at the Ventureline backrest, yes the backrest will fit, but mounting brackets are different for the MKI and the MKII. When I bought my 93 it alreaady had the MKII brkts installed, but no backrest. I bought a MKI backrest and gave the MKI brkts to a member. Worked out fine. DJ

Jeremy, My 93 has a Silverstar installed by the PO, and I run the KRISS modulator. Have had the bike two years and some, and the modulator is on it's second season, and very happy with both. DJ -
I know a feller :whistling:that has a 93 that looks alot like your new ride. Can't tell you much about the EIIIs cause they didn't have the sizes for my scoot when I needed tires. Wanted EIIs with the reised white letters, but could'nt get those either. Ended up with Michelin Commanders and so far love'em. Did the Steering head bearing pack and adjust when I put the tires on and no more wobble at all. Great lookin scoot (no prejadice here). Ride and have a great time. DJ

JT, We've never met, or shared conversation, but I've been watchin' this thread from the beginning. I can say that my heart went out as I considered the possibility of my dearest heart of 45 years+ and how I would handle the situation you have found yourself in. My thoughts and prayers immediatly went out as they do for all of the folks here that need them, but I must say I admire your attitude and strength. You are one HELLAVA Trooper. Keep it up. About to paint my bike.
DANJ replied to NLAlston's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Nathan, A substantial portion of the cost of such a project is prep and prep materials. I own a body shop, and from time to time a customer comes in with a project like yours. If you have such a shop that you have used, look them up and ask if they will coach you through the prep proceedures and advise on where to get automotive quality materials. Quite often fellers like me get a little kick out of helping with these types of projects. When the coach sees what you have done in the prep and approves the product, pay them to paint it for you. If you go about it that you will be pleased and proud of the results. DJ -

Am changing my oil brand from Amsoil to Mobil 1. Was at Wally's and noticed several different caps and I seem to remember that the gold cap is the one with friction modifiers. Silver cap does not. Is that correct? DJ :confused24:

I imagine that anyone can find a chart somewhere for just about any point they want to make, but that is certainly not the case in these parts. I have shot competition with handguns for most of my adult life with folks from all walks of life. I don't see much difference in the level of education than I percieve here. Many highly educated people enjoy the sport of shooting just as they enjoy the sport of riding. A prime example is my oldest son. He has a BA and two Masters degrees and is the Vice-Principle of a Salt Lake City High School, shoots regularly and is quite handy with any firearm. DJ

Paint matching
DANJ replied to Big Daddy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
"Thanks Wizard. So the painter can use these codes to reproduce that color?" Not very likley. It would only give the paint mixer a formula for that color if one exists. Very few formulas for metric bike codes are available. Go to a local Body Shop Supply that carries Sherwin Williams, PPG Dupont or BASF inventory. They will likley have a computerized color eye that will provide the closest possible matching formula. Take A piece of the body with the best color on the bike and they can shoot if for a formula. If they get what is called a blendable match (1.0-2.5) make sure and get a copy of the formula or at least a code for future reference. DJ -

My 93 has been doing the same thing since I got it. If I ride even every other day or so the stations stay in memory just fine, but if it sits for a week no presets except one. I'ee be interested if anyone has a fix. DJ
