Reduced fuel economy...that varies

08 RSV with stock pipes. I get 46-49 MPG consistently. I've been using sea foam in the last 3 tanks. I also use Mobil 1 20w50 synthetic oil. I'm a happy camper! -
Decided to spend a little more and ordered the Morgan Carb Tune. Should get it in a couple of weeks. Thanks for all the help.

stock mufflers research continuing
fwbpastor replied to a topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
After putting louder pipes on my 08 RSV I noticed I was getting about 8 mpg less than my stock pipes. I decided to put the stock pipes back on. -
Agreed. I am a new owner of a 08 RSV and I have learned so much and received a lot of help by many on this board. Many Thanks.

Hi, Just bought and installed driving lights on my 08 Royal Star Venture as well as the light visors. I bought everything off ebay from the following sellers. They were brand new OEM parts. Everyone here were really good at giving me some great advice on how to wire the lights. I used a relay like everyone recommended as well as the Kuryakyn Master Cylinder switch. They look great on the bike and work really nice. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-Royal-Star-Venture-Driving-Light-Kit-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem588cfe9926QQitemZ380322617638QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories Aleks Powersports http://stores.ebay.com/GENUINE-YAMAHA-ACCESSORIES/_i.html?_nkw=royal+star+venture&_arm=1&_armi=Cruisers&_armm=351&_ruu=http%3A%2F%2Fstores.ebay.com%2FGENUINE-YAMAHA-ACCESSORIES%2FCruisers-%2F_i.html%3F_nkw%3Droyal%2Bstar%2Bventure%26_arr%3D1%26_fsub%3D11801613%26_sid%3D311021261&_sid=311021261&_rdc=1 GENUINE YAMAHA ACCESSORIES Hope this helps, Melvin

Thanks for all the replies. I've just had a hard time getting my brain around the idea or necessity of a relay. I will install a relay today on the bike for the driving lights. Again thanks for all the help. Melvin

Here’s my question. Why have a relay for the driving (passing lights). My front fairing is still apart and I can change my wiring easily. I bought the Kuryakyn Master Cylinder switch and have the hot connected to the Red wire with yellow strip (power on all the time when key is turned on). One of the switch wires I connected to the driving lights. The hot wire to the switch has a 30 amp fuse and the wire going to the lights has a 10 amp fuse. There is power to the switch when I turn the key on and I can toggle the driving lights on and off with the switch. If I ever forget to turn them off, the power is cut as soon as I turn the key off. I don’t know a lot about electrical draw and amps, but was just wondering why I needed to put in a relay. Other than the fuse being in the fairing, is there any problems with the way I hooked it up? Thanks Melvin

Just bought a 2008 RSV 3 weeks ago. My wife says it is very comfortable and I have no regrets with the power. I'm a big man and with both of us riding it has all the power I need. I was impressed with 48 mpg on my first gas tank.

I'm about to install Yamaha driving lights on my 2008 RSV. I've read all the post I can find about how to wire them using a relay until my eyes are tired. This is how I want to be able to use them. I want the ability to turn them on and off manually using a switch, not having them come on with either the hi-beam or lo-beam. I saw somewhere, and now I can't find it, a diagram of the color coded wires coming from the headlight. always on, hi-beam, lo-beam. Any help would be appreciated. I'm new to this so please be patient with me. Thanks.
