  1. I thought the Heim joint idea was a good one also, until I tried it on my trailer. A heim joint is not designed to take a side load as this application would be. I probably run one 1000 miles on my trailer and it was totally wore out. Went with my own design swivel hitch with a small ball from a camper anti sway bar. Mike
  2. I had to put .060 shim in my 87. One really needs to follow skydocs procedure for proper alignment. Mike.
  3. 4 and 8 are the correct key numbers and they are still available from Yamaha. I tried hardware store grommets and they did not work. Got to remember these are metric bikes.
  4. I must be having a bad day. I pull my trailer with the lights sliced directly into the bikes harness. Been doing it for years with standard bulbs. What is the purpose of an isolator.
  5. Just put a new one on my V-max pumpkin. All it is, is a tube with an umbrella welded on it. It has a small hole drilled in the top edge of the tube for the vent. Still available from Yamaha. Mike
  6. Been a member for over 30 years now.
  7. Here is little scratch, hope it helps. Mike and Mary Ann Allen
  8. Thanks guys, I know Yamaha has done some weird things. I guess I did not realize that the Standard shock had an internal spring. Just thinking about changing mine. Anybody have a Progressive to sell ??? Is there any other option for rear shocks. Mike
  9. Looking for some clarification. What years was the air shock used and whaty years was the coil over shock used. Would it be feasable to replace the air shock with a good OEM coil over shock ??? Are the two shocks the same length eye to eye ??? The parts list really does not state whether you are looking at an air shock or coil over.
  10. Mary Ann and myself are glad this was not a health related issue and wish you the very best in regaining your marriage strength. Our 25th is in May.
  11. Looking for the rack that the trunk mounts to. All I need is the rack itself. It can even have some rust on it as long as the 4 treaded studs are good. Let me know. Thanks Mike:fingers-crossed-emo
  12. Happy birthday Don, may your wishes come true. Mike and Mary Ann
  13. I hate it when you guys are right. My 87 does have the plastic extension on it. So as Kevin states the aftermarket chrome one is longer, so I guess that is what I need to locate. Or borrow one in order to fabricate one. Thanks Mike
  14. Kevin, I would probably rather have a painted one. If you have one you would part with let me know what you want for it. Give me a call. Mike 513-314-4834 Thanks
  15. Looking for a front fender extension that bolts to the rear of the front fender to fit a 87 model. Maybe someone has one laying around as a spare. Thanks Mike
  16. Just watch the length of the cooker. We madr ours out of a 550 gallon round underground tank and still have to cut the feet off at the first joint to get it to turn on the rotissary.
  17. Gary, Happy birthday and best wishes from Mike & Mary Ann.
  18. Earl, This is great news to us and I am sure you are ready for Jean to come home also. Our prayers are still with you and we think about you and Jean every day. Sometime I will call you here in the near future. Mike & Mary Ann
  19. Earl, We are real sorry to here about Jean. Things seem to happen so darn fast and as we least expect it. Our thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery. Of course if we can do anything for you let us know. Mike and Mary Ann
  20. Gary, Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Mike and Mary Ann
  21. I have always wanted a Venture since I the early 80 s, but never bought one due to fact that I heard they had so many problems. I finally purchased a 87 standard with 15,000 miles 3 years ago and have done alot of upgrades to it. I also currently have a 84 Honda V-65 Sabre, complete with factory fairing and saddle bags that I have owned since 1985 (28 years).
  22. Gary, Let me know what I can do. Mike
  23. Gary, If I was not going to hook up the cruise I would make custom cables. I make cables all the time an have or can get the stuff to make them. You would want to still run the dual cables for safety concerns. If I can help let know. Mike
  24. Good luck with everything (I know your pain). I hope everything goes well and a speedy recovery.
