Question about the RSV Horn
royalstar09 replied to dmoff1698's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
From studying my bike with a DVOM and test light I found these results. With the key on you should have 12V on both of the wires with it unplugged, (or plugged in for that matter). I went and looked at my bike. The horn UNPLUGGED on the right side (with your butt in the seat) has the 2 wires. The wire towards the front is batt + with key on and stays batt + when pressing the horn button.......The wire towards the rear is batt + with key on and changes to ground when pressing the horn button. With that being the case then in my opinion NO a standard automotive horn will not work as you will be taking batt + and applying it to straight ground when you turn the key on causing a feedback. So YES these horns have to be a special design to work with the power and ground configuration as they have it. I will apologise up front if I am incorrect. But from the diagram I studied, and the results I found from my bike this is my conclusion. -
Bib looks great. I also noticed you did what I did it appears and moved your headset connection and eliminated that "tacky" cable holder. Looks great.

Need new battery - what part #
royalstar09 replied to nkbjones's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Minimum of 4 years out of your OEM battery is impressive. That would make me tend to go to the dealer and just get one more of the same. Just my $.02 -
As far as the search goes I was reminded here that all the search features are only as smart as, and assuming that the seller knows what they have to sell. I found Yamaha Royal Star Venture items that the description says NOT for royal star venture. The issue I find is Yamaha has too many royal stars for the averange seller to know exactly how to list them.
-
I like the listing changes. I get tired of paying $1.25 plus $13.00 shipping (example). I try to at all cost avoid ANY seller who inflates shipping to avoid paying their share of selling cost. As a business owner I only wish I could skate by with shady business like practices as these sellers do. ACTUAL shipping cost will do just fine.

I had the same warning when pricing my new tires for the Durango. I was told by three dealers Do Not Wait untill April. One told me (I know him well) he is expecting double prices April 1st on tires. So I guess this weekend Ill be buying new tires for the Durango. Also our quick change oil change place is going up $10.00 per oil change. The $29.95 Valvoline 5 qt change will be $39.95 effective now I guess.

Is it still under warranty?? Id say a 2007 is (which is is whats in your profile). Just saying I would NOT have touched it if it is. -
Id be willing to bet that you are spot on. Id bet that it is something they do for safety. Their is no way she cannot realise it is folded up.

First off welcome to the site. You will find this place more then helpfull. A little information I stumbled with, but learned on here about the bike. You own a second generation RSV and their is a specific second generation tech section http://www.venturerider.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=9 you will find most helpfull. Use the search feature and multiple post on your specific questions will be found.

Im with you. I want 1" but am not able to find 1" risers in a 1" bar. All the 1" risers seem to fit 7/8" bars

Not only is it time to change the clocks. But use the time change as a reminder. TWICE a year we change times. Make it a habit to change those batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Also check all fire extinguishers, even disposables generally have a small test button.

In Missouri we are by ordered to have our motorcycles, vehicles ,or any licensed vehicle safety inspected by an official with the Missouri State Highway Patrol. These inspection stations provide the service once they are approved and their mechanics are trained and certified. Some States do NOT do that so the safety issue may be a good thing. NOW saying that, we (mo) have randon checkpoints on a regular basis. If you are legal its a momentary stop and you are on your way. I support them. For our boaters their are special checkpoints targeting ONLY boats. I agree with that. Bringin awareness to anything can not be a bad thing. If they get stupid with it thats another story. But I personally would have absolutly NO issue with being singled out and inspected as a bike rider, boater, walker, or whatever it is. I do not do anything illegal to worry about it. Just my opinion.

When you put the disc in does anything happen? Put the disc in a click on My Computer. See if it is recognising the disc.

Yes I have used them. I typically try to use venders from a website where I am a member. Never had a issue with them.

Do you have an alternative computer to try them in by chance? Looks like the guy has 100% positive feedback. Doubt you will have any issues getting them replaced if need be.
