Good idea. I am not really comfortable with a bike next to me. If I have to correct for any reason I want all the road.

Looking for an earlier grab and firmer grip on take off. I cannot get used to my clutch engageing at neary full release. To completly dis-ingage I only need to pull about 1" on release lever. So I am looking for anything that will make it engage "earlier" and grip sooner. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=10518

We can go with that

It bothers me to the point that this is just yet one more example of how some people just have lost all respect for others. When you are on the river in a john boat a guy in a new Ranger will still wave when passing by. What is it with a harley that turns people into this type of a person??? It is a bike assembled in the USA with foreign parts. Nothing more, nothing less. Mental note to self here. Only stop and help bike riders i need so long as they are not on a harley??? Naaah I'd still stop to help

What was I thinking. I ,ade it home safe THIS TIME
royalstar09 replied to muaymendez1's topic in Watering Hole
Glad it turned out good for you this time. Nice reminder to us all to NEVER let down our guard. I had to lay on the horn today to keep from hitting a cage. I see it coming, noticed it was gonna happen, corrected my speed and lane choice, and had a "out" in the event..............and the event happened. He pulled right out. His SUV was almost to the middle of the road, crossing our lane from a side street, before he heard the horn and stopped. I had wife with me and told her it was gonna happen before it did. We got lucky today as well..... -
My wife and I went to Quincy il today and sitting at a stop light we had about 20 bikes, all harleys, pass by. We are on the RSV chilling at the red light and they had the green. I waved as I do to ALL bikes. Not a one would lift a finger, not even to flip us off. They looked at us, then turned there heads. Even the wives on the ones riding 2 up turned their noses up I would hate to thing that a piece of equipment made me have such a complex that I would be ashamed to wave at someone riding something not labeled a harley. Next time I get the chance I think Ill ask one of them hard core harley guys to grab a standard tool set and work on his "hog" cause unless it is old school with a springer front end I am betting it has as many foreign parts as my Yamaha

CB Squelch setting ?
royalstar09 replied to royalstar09's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Thanks for the input. I had a suspesion that with the squelch setting so high it was blocking input RX signals from reaching me. I will try as you suggested and see how that works. I have never run a CB at all. I am used to radio equipment relating to the fire service which is completly different. -

CB Squelch setting ?
royalstar09 replied to royalstar09's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I believe when I go to the dealer for its service Ill have them take a peak. It cannot be normal to be able to listen in only to truckers I can see. Heck if I can see them there would be no need for it if I were having trouble I could just flag them down. Dont see how it could be headsets. Radio is perfectly nice and clear and headsets are new, but it is possible I guess....... It may be something on the RX side of things since I can get out to them, but there traffic to me is broken horribly. If I happen to catch a truck coming at me and have just randomly asked if anyone can hear me I know they did cause I get static back. But it is not until I get the truck in sight that I can hear them reply and I have confirmed this by asking them when we pass each other if that truck was the one trying to reach me. Then once they dissappear from my mirrors same thing again, they hear me but all I get is static or extremely broken traffic in return. So I guess to be more detailed I am having trouble hearing clear conversations, but can get out to them enough that they try to reply which to me indicates they are hearing me rather clearly. -
They are to small here. Road tractors (semi's) ride the outside curb with the tractor and the inside curb with the trailer. Too many things going on in them at once for me. People just run around them with a signal on the dart off wherever they can . They put on in Bowling Green Mo and it is an industrial area that is heavy with semi's traffic. Also heavy with horse and buggy traffic from the Amesh. Toss in the part about the new Walmart next to it and you have a recipe for disaster. So far it has not worked as they thought it would

CB Squelch setting ?
royalstar09 replied to royalstar09's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
It is not bike noise. It is other CB's. I have to run a minimum of 14 squelch setting to keep from hearing all the noises. Bike has 3,000 miles on it so it has not had plugs, wires, or anything replaced, its all OEM. Does not seem to make any difference if I am sitting in my garage (bike off) or riding it. Unless I see a 18 wheeler I cannot talk to them from having squelch settings so high. On occasion I can pick up bits and pieces of conversations so I know it is truckers talking, but unless they are in sight I cannot hear clearly. -
I enjoy on occasion running my CB and chatting with some truckers, or even just listening in. Makes time go by. Problem is I get so much static. If I run the squelch setting up to stop static then the CB has to be within sight to talk or listen in. What is the range for these? I work with handheld radios that will talk 5 miles or more to each other. Just curious if possibly I have an antenna issue, or are they just like this?

My opinion is this: There is a joke section, they should be put there There is a prayer request section, them should be put there. There is a section for this and that and not all comments, request, or whatever belong here in the "watering hole"..... If the specific things were kept in their "appropriate" place then those who choose to offer prayers will go there and check for them, or those who enjoy a joke can go there. I do not read much in the First Gen section because I own a Second Gen. Really don't look at the prayer request section much because I don't pretend to be something I am not. If I see a prayer request in here (the "watering hole") I skip it and wonder why it is here and not where it belongs. It is simple. Folks know the majority of the traffic is here so it is a way to get a fast reply or ensure that more people see it. I think as a general rule when someone puts a post up they like to see replies to it. So a prayer request here will get more foot traffic then one in the prayer request section. If I put a post in the parts for sale section, but a mod sees that it is an entire bike it will more then likely be moved to its appropriate section. Same should be done with everything else. Just my $0.02

Reality has finally set in. My Son leaves Tuesday May 17Th for Ft Benning Ga. He has graduated high School, is turning 18, and leaving for the Army at the same time. I have 2 sons of which both now are out of High School. Both hold Diplomas. Both are turning into 2 of the best young adults I have had an honor in raising. At 18, and 19 yrs old they have been with me full time since they were 1 and 2. For 17 years they have been my everything. Now both are young men on their own. Pride and emptiness have hit me at once. As a Father who has raised his children without a active Mother for 17 years we have bonded in ways that cannot be described. From there first diaper change, to kindergarten graduation, and now onto manhood we have done it together and I could not be any more proud of them then I am right now. Sure gonna be empty round the house for a while.

As a Chief of a volunteer fire department I understand exactly what he is going through. He needs to utilize the resources within the department immediately for traumatic events. This will not leave on its own. He would be anything BUT human if it did. CISM (Critical incident stress management) is there for a reason. Please have him use them resources. My heart goes out to the family for sure. What a horrific thing to have to face. These situations affect everyone involved.

Yep thats correct. Windshield is not included in the "cab window count". The three window has one rear window only without the highly collectable cabs that include them 2 little windows. To the OP thats a heck of a truck. Really love the 6 cyl. Love the 5spd upgrade. Them cream wheels with the chrome caps and trim rings set it off. Very very jealous. Enjoy it.

Much appreciated. I just feel like I am sliding the disc everytime I try to take off, and the slightest tension on the clutch lever will "slip it". It seems like it could use an additional friction plate and disc.......... -

I had been thinking about ding something with my stock clutch, only in that I cannot stand that I have to relaease it nearly all the way before the bike moves. It only has 4,000 miles so I cannot imagine it to be wore out. I am going to follow this because if a cure is found I WILL do it. All my other bikes relaesed as the origional poster stated, and the RSV releasing so "late" is something I do not like at all.
