I see the price has really dropped, but that's because they decided to make a tire that will only get 6 to 8,000 miles on it. Who wants to pay top dollar for a tire that'll only get 8,000 miles on it. Yes your life is on the line no matter what tire you get, but I'll still be looking for a tire that gets close to the 24,000 miles I use to get with the Dunlop D404.

and it's not too pretty trying to get the bike to a stop. Unless you try to get over before it goes completely flat, your in danger of losing control when it does!

Just bought a 3/4 open face for $99.00. It's only one of a couple of helmets that sells a 3X size, so for that price, I think I'm getting a pretty good deal, and it feels great.

It's one second slower and 10 mph slower than the first gen in the standing 1/4 mile. Gear wise, we've paced it out on a rpm gauge, and there's not a whole lot of difference except that the 83 had a lower gear rear end as it's engine tached around two grand higher than the 2nd gen engine. This made it faster with it also being 120 lbs. lighter than the 2nd gen. So, 104 mph in 12.6 seconds for the 1st gen...........94 mph in 13.6 seconds for the 2nd gen. And both bikes geared for around 135 mph.

That's worse than my 8,500 miles I got on my 99RSV, but I ride with a very light wrist.

think I'd put the pic dead center, make the patch ob-long like our VR patch, put 2nd Annual VentureRider Rally on left with date, and put the city, state and country on the right with VentureRider.org underneath the picture. All I can do is suggest as I don't know the first thing about doing the fancy work.

Good one Don, now that picture with the two bikes speaks a thousand words.

and I thought I was the only one that didn't know how to operate a computer..........:rotf:, been there done that a few times before. But some of the things you can't change without Freebird's help. In order to change my ID name, I couldn't do it, Freebird had too. So how you feeling today Jack, did you do the doctor thing and get yourself checked out. Heck, I got so much to do today, I think I'll drop everything and go for a bike ride. Just my type of weather too, man did it get cold in a hurry:o. I guess I'll change the oil when I get back, don't want to run on the Ft. Collins oil forever . So hang in there Jack, you'll get the feeling sooner or later how to operate the puter, after you take a course in your nearest college to find out how to operate a computer, that's basically what us folks need nowadays, lol. :rotf:The thing I'm having trouble with and can't seem to fix is getting the text inside the borders. Have changed it a couple of times in the options box, but to no evail, and I was told that one was easy to fix. :-(

Yup, sure would like to take the easy way out, and I guess everybody else in here would like to hit the lotto also, lol. But anyway; I retired the first week of 96 after 33 years with Pacific Bell (now AT&T) walked out the gate on my 51st birthday. But instead of taking the pension, I took the buy out. I ended up because of my financial advisor, losing half my money (long story) after 10 years of waking up to a Saturday all the time, then the pension stopped. But the money that was left (I fired the first one), but hooked up with another financial advisor, and reinvested what I had left, and hope to retire a second time at around 66 when I get full S.S. benifits. So just working part time right now, wifes job pays the bills, I make the beer money, gas money, and (OH), and bike riding money :rotf:. But at least I can say I had a great retirement for at least 8 of those 10 years until the money stopped.

That's the way it went when I was trying to remove the emblem on the gas tank Brent. I did everything you tried, and you can see a few marks where I took it off as I had so much trouble. From there, I told myself I'm leaving the rest of the emblem's alone.

Three of us stayed at Furnace Creek, and I think it was running 105 at the time. Had dinner pretty late, then went outside around 10:30 p.m., and it was still 93 degrees. But as dry as that air is, it wasn't really that bad from what I can remember. So if you want to take a chance, go for it and .

would you buy a RSV again?
Rich99 replied to stvmaier's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Bought my 99 new in Oct of 2000. Little hard getting them off the floor because of just starting the 2nd gen., but that's alright. Was $15,999 at the time, but price was lowered to $12,999........that worked for me. Got 84,000 on it now, had a few problems, but I'm an easy rider, good mileage on tires, still have the orginal front brakes. So for size, I'm 6' 3" - 285 lbs, this bike has plenty of room, and even though slower than the first gen., which I owned an 83 for 16+ yrs, it has all the power I need. Another new member just down the street from me joined us, and has a 99 just like ours juggler, but with only 24k on it; but the best part is he picked it up for only $5,600. But anyway, I wouldn't have any other bike, so yes, I'd buy one again. -
Our prayers will be with him.

You could sell all your first gens., pay cash and have money left over; then you could brag about going over to the dark side of the great 2nd gens., but ah....:crying:I guess you'd make alot of enemies.

If it's an easy fix, and your thinking of trying on a second gen., I'd think about putting in a bid Jack.................good luck if you do.

unless you get paid by the mile, then sitting in traffic sucks.

because the only cement trucks I drive are the empty ones, lol. "BUT", the only problem with that is that theres nothing to hold the truck on the ground, and you get tossed through the roof with every bump you hit. When I get the 5-axle semi's though, they ride pretty good.

One of us should be able to help you out. I drove a million miles from 64 to 77, but dispatched for 19 years after that, and drove off and on during the rest of the time till I retired in 96. I've got a part time job right now driving for a transport company of which we drive just about anything on the road. I was out of it for 10 years (didn't drive) while I was retired, but started this job about 2 years ago. Drove everything on the road way back when and didn't need any endorsments, now it seems you need a college degree..........don't have any endorsments except for the bike, but we still should be able to answer any questions you have.

Venture Speed Wabbels
Rich99 replied to yamahamer's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I always seemed to get a wobble after a certain amount of tire wear. Always kept the right pressure, and it happened anyway. As soon as I put on a new tire, smooth as glass. But I guess low pressure could bring it on pretty quick.
