  1. once upon a time i was using AVG too. Had other issues and then they want $$'s so I switched to Avast. Just a Suggestion. http://www.avast.com good luck.
  2. Thanks. Not that I want to sell "Trigger", but the Corbin saddle that i have is...well lets say, rather broken in and a little dog eared. I was just looking for a "cheap", nicer/newer looking seat to fill the void when the fateful day comes. I don't really expect that I'll have use it. OK...Thanks again, and as always much appreciated. Enjoy!
  3. DOH! how about the link FOOL! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&viewitem=&item=330180080233 sorry
  4. Hello all, Hey i'm looking for a little help here. I placed a bid on what is suppose to be a seat for a 2nd gen RS. And now the seller has posted a note stating that he's not sure is it in fact fits a RoyalStar. Please, if you have an early model 2nd Gen-RS 97-2001'ish, could you please take a look at the ebay link and post any opinions [pertaining to the seat, not other various short comings that my ail you ] FYI...not that i want to replace my Corbin saddle - i love it. i would just like to have the oem set on had too. Thanks in advance. Ron
  5. Oh Eck, What's this US-standard nut and bolt doing on a Metric bike? The shear thought of such an act. Countries have gone to war for lesser things! Beer spilled; Words said; A younger bother crying. [scarred for Life and still living that nightmare] Just fun'n with yah! Thanks again.
  6. Yeah...I took a quick look at that chrome cover the other night and for some reason I was thinking that it was riveted on. but now with a little better light on the subject, i see that it's just two very small Allen-Head bolts. definitely the better way to go. As always...thanks for the help. I think I better take a couple of pic's of the "Appron" for posterity's sake just the same thought, before i take it off...
  7. Would you consider a trade?
  8. Hi cats! I have this little dilemma: Looks like the last major ride of the season for me next week, and well the departure date is looking for sun, but the return date is calling for rain [imagine that, RAIN in Washington State]. anyway, when it came right down to it, i just couldn't it. I just couldn't put a couple of holes in the fender for a mud flap... So after thinking about it for a while I came up with the idea of the "Anti-mud Flap". Basically I took a discarded log truck mud flap and cut it into a 2 foot by 1 foot chunk and hung it across the front of the bottom of the engine block; suspended by my case savers/crash bars, but not obstructing the radiator. Haven't tested it out yet...still hate the idea of getting her wet if i don't really have to. ANYWAY...i guess my real question here is: has anyone attempted this one before and if so, what was your out come. I guess I'll post my results later...for anyone interested? Winters coming...enjoy the fall!
  9. Mean Dog must have corrected the original posting after i took the quote. regardless...that's the number. enjoy
  10. Thought it was ST7317?
  11. Thanks Mike...very good points.
  12. very informative...many thanks to all.
  13. Yes, i agree. I have always, replaced both at the oil and the filter every 3000 miles with normal, petroleum based oils (yamalube/honda line etc.). I guess i was just looking for a more definitive answer regarding the need to change synthetic oils and oil filter every 3000 miles too or can one simply replace the oil filter at the 3000 mile mark and let the oil go another 2-3000 miles. Thanks for the reply eck.
  14. Question: has anyone tried going to a smaller rear tire? I believe the rear is a 90 series. Has anyone even seen a 15 inch 70 or 60 series rear tire. and then for those of you that have tried this, how badly did it affect the top end on the freeway? thanks in advance.
  15. OK, 3000 miles ago I switch to the Mobil 1 full synthetic motor oil. With that said: do i just change the filter and go another 3k or change out the oil and the filter? any takers?
  16. thanks Red... Actually that is the style rack that I have on my bike (97) now. I won/bought two on an ebay auction earlier this year and decided that I liked the looks of the bigger tubed rack than that of the smaller diameter. Wonder if it's then safe to "assume" that the racks would fit any year Tour Deluxe? thanks again folks
  17. I just submitted my auction...but it isn't due to start until 7:00 tonight (PT). didn't think asking here first. (sorry)
  18. hello all, Statement: I have a rear fender rack for my 97 RSTD. Question: Does anyone know what other years it would fit? (I'm thinking of selling it on ebay and I think that fact might be helpful). thanks in advance.
  19. Well I went from my 89' zx-10 to a RSTD last September...The cruise is much, much better, But i do dearly miss the acceleration (quick to pass) and the fun (adrenaline) of cornering. But then these bikes are apples and oranges too, at least that's what I kept telling myself. So why did I switch? Well, I had trigger (zx) for a good seven years and was actually thinking of jumping over to the V-Max camp until I came across the royalstar. all in all i really like the bike (other than when its time to move it around the garage, she's a big heavy pig). Like me, if you make the move, you'll have to get use to a different train of thought: rather than zip zip am i there yet; to where i am, is where its at: and to slow down and enjoy the ride. Hope this helps... and good luck in your decision(s).
  20. Ever notice that "Boomer" and Freebird are never in the same picture at the same time? Think it might just be the Superman - Clark Kent thing. Which ever...good write up either way. Question/Suggestions...I'm looking for the stock rear fender rack; the one that is used when the passenger saddle is not used. having very little luck with Ebay, and i'm a little too cheap to shell out the $100+ at the store. any alternative thoughts on locating one. And, ditto for metal to go on top of the saddle bag lids. thanks in advance and just thanks in general for those that keep this site afloat. "Nothing but love, Baby"
  21. Hey Freebird...so that's what your mug looks like.... (you're in the reflection in photo number 6, the one just above the caption: "In the rear, the bag rails no longer rub the signals. Enjoy!") anyway...thanks once again, for another great tip/hint.
  22. Well, as part of my winter to do's Part-1, was to vent the filler neck. I drained the tank completely (the best that I could) and let her vent for a week [it snowed so i was in no hurry]. Got out the trusty scratch awl and started 'wackin'. Eight holes later, followed by one minor Air box mod, the attempted lowering of the front end [failed/chickened out] and then the reinstallation of everything. Out come...thumbs up. it appears to be much easier to fill the tank up. the sudden over filling of the filler tube no longer appears to be an issue. So, I would recommend this mod to all! (just don't blow yourself up in the process) Enjoy
  23. Great Idea, But what about the TD. I would love to try this one, but with my 97 RDTD, I have all that aluminum shrouding around my forks. Does anyone out there know if the shrouds will smiply stay in position, relative to the headset, or would they need to be modified. And then there is the question of the shrouds becoming too long, and hitting the front fender should the front end bottom out. Any thought and or opinion for a short legged rider would be appreciated...please don't suggest high heels [i can admit it, I just don't look good in stilettos:rotf:]. thanks all...
  24. Riddle me this Batman... As far as I have been able to determine, my 1997 RSTD can muster approximately 75 horses, yet the 1200cc Vmax of that era had 100+/- ponies. What gives? Where are they hiding, and are there ways (inexpensive ways) of corralling em up. As always, thanks for your opinions.
  25. Yeah...had quite the conversation with the boys last night at the fire hall about this one. suggestions where: * drill it. * Fill it up completely with gas. * drain it and vent it with an air line until clean and dry. * fill it with water. * and my personal favorite for creativity: hook a hose up to the exhaust of the nearest running motor and use it to fill the tank with Dioxide [Monoxide?] fumes...forcing the oxygen and or gas vapors out of the tank, making the fuel mixure to lean to burn/explode. As always...thanks to all. I truly enjoy this site. Ron
