  1. What about using my new Revolution Money Exchange Account. Please tell me that signing up wasn't a "bad" idea and that I did not miss the memo saying it was a scam after all!
  2. OK got the AVON tires on and test drive one done. So far I like 'em. the front tire MT90-16 is a bit narrower. it feels good at slower speeds and on the highway. I still need more time to test 'em out. http://home.centurytel.net/malizia/RS/whitewalls/TriggerWW1.jpg The back though is another story. evidentially Avon's idea of a 150/90 is about 3/4 of an inch wider than Dunlop and Metzler's 150 mm's. AND IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO GET INSIDE THE SWING ARM! Still not quite sure how i got it in there. (and yes i was smart enough to let the air out of it--but not smart enough just to let the shop do it ). I also took the time to grease up the rear end fingers-dampers and splines (preventative rear end noise - see other threads) Note: lift adapter, and my prototype-1 hand guards (i'll post that project later when i type up all of the winter projects up: hand guards - throttle rocker - and my review of what Santa brought me, a new hat, HJC modular) until later... Ron
  3. Yeah, on the side wall it states: "replaces 130/90-16" So it's 20mm narrower and 3 mm less on the diameter. Close enough?
  4. Hey spuds, I had the same problem last year...brand new metzler with the optional 4 penny nail pressure release valve. Is that an option or a feature? anyway, I could not get any of the local shops to patch it...they kept siting something about liability this, liability that. I wasted a couple of plugs trying to plug it...i then tried a can of the sealer stuff (ride-on)...that didn't work either. in the end, I wasted 20+ bucks on band-aids, only to end up throwing the virtually new tire (less than 1000 miles on it) away. On the good side, i had peace of mind not having to worry about the tire failing on me...on the down side, i replaced it with a d404...not happy with that tire at all. squeezed a good 8000+ miles out of her in less than a year. weak side walls too, had to run her at 43 psi just to make the rear end feel right - which of course shortened the tires life...i know. I'll be trying the venom in the next couple of days...hope they live up to their reputation. good luck
  5. Sanrand...yeah they are not quite the same...but some where in my many...many website stops, i came across something that indicated the the MT90-16 was close enough to the stock 150/80-16 that i would be OK...and besides, if Eck says it's good...then it's good. who am I to argue. I got the front tire today...eye balling it, it does look a little narrower, but too late now i guess, as long as it fits on the rim. that's all I care about at this point...other than getting the rear tire tomorrow! Stay tuned...I'll get back with the test run in a week or so. Same bat time, same bat channel.
  6. Don, it looks great. Glad to hear you moved on to a new ISP/Host. As the kids would say..."This site Rocks!" whatever that means--I always assume that's a good thing. Now, please take that deserved break. Cheers!
  7. Well I Never said i was quick. Better late than never...etc. Well here's another one for "King and Country". Their site looks legit and what i found on them...but boy was it tough sending my SSN, address and DOB. I sure hope that wasn't a mistake!
  8. Annual Fund Raiser / Quarterly Raffles - great ideas. As long as they are on a donation basis. I'm sure that we have a Tax Accountant or two out there...would an annual "Fee" create a tax issue for Don or however it is that owns the URL/site? Anyway...boy the site is Rock'n now. something must have gotten fixed! Good job Don!
  9. A big thanks you Eck! ordered the Tires (with Wide Whitewalls) on Tuesday noon-ish and they are to be delivered this afternoon (Thursday). Very fast service, thanks again for the recommendation. Shameless plug goes to: RideDirect.com Ron:bowdown:
  10. I think you've hit it right on the head! Excellent Idea.
  11. Amen to that. This is such a great site, it would be such a shame to see it become a fee driven site with mandatory fees. Being a cheap-as(s) that I am (just ask the kids) I never would have joined to begin with...and that would have been my loss! but if enough folks don't join the site will eventually die. [understand?] How about an annual fund drive/fund raiser. Like it was stated earlier, if everyone gave a couple of bucks, i think we would/could hit "our" goal...or Don't get mad, but what about [more] advertisements on the site? hate to see them clutter things up...but if it would help the site financially, i'm for it. Anyway...Don thanks a million. I'm here for you like the rest; just give the word. Hell the kids didn't want to go to College anyway. Seriously though, it's not a lot: enjoy it or use it, you've more than earned it! Ron
  12. Yeah...that's the ticket. thanks!
  13. Thanks all. Yeah...these are the comments/suggestions that I was looking for. Especially regarding the Maxxis tires. they appear to be available, but i've never heard any real reviews. thanks again to all .
  14. Thanks for the suggestion George, but yeah that's what I've been doing. [and by the way...i was beginning to think i was the only member in WA:)] I guess I should rephrase my original question: "Of those of you out there, running a Wide Whitewall tires. What brand are they, and what size?" I see that Avon Venom comes in a WWW rear tire, but it's a 170/80-15 tire. "Has anyone stuffed that large of a rear tire on a 2nd gen RS?" and "Tanks!"
  15. Hello all, Well I've come to a couple conclusions here: 1. Trigger needs needs some new tires, and 2. I want Wide Whitewalls. (www) 3. I would like those new tires to be either Avon or the Michelins. HOWEVER...i'm having trouble locating WWW tires of any brand. So, i was wondering if those of you out there might be able to suggest where i might be able to acquire such tires. [please no Dunlaps...that's what's coming off and i doubt that i'll ever go back to them] many thanks Ron
  16. Got mine...Thx
  17. Hey Taz good point. Which brings me to another question/observation that might be related tomy previous question. Last summer I switched to a Full Synthetic oil, Mobil 1. Anyway, ever since, following a ride, I'll notice a drip of oil under the bike. Apparently, it's coming from what i can only assume to be another crank case breather. So, Question: Does our RS engine have some sort of PCV value and if so, are my observations signs of a bad PCV value, filter or what ever? Oh...forgot to mention that the oil level is in the upper 2/3's of the check window. Any thoughts?
  18. Because I need to know...I decided to right the bike and drain a small amount of oil. I pulled the plug and drained a couple ounces of normal looking oil. WHOO HOO! I would think, if there was in fact water in the oil, it should have been in the bottom of the pan and therefore, first to drain. Right? Anyway...i'm feeling a little better about life, the universe and everything. Side note: up here in the Pacific NW, yesterday was SUNNY,SUNNY, SUNNY. 50+ degrees and 60 miles of bliss. Springs a coming! Later all
  19. Amen to that. thanks all
  20. Hello All, I'm just a little curious if any of you have seen this too? This morning I decided to finally get around to swapping out my OEM air filter a K&N. But to my surprise, when I opened up the air box there was a fair amount of moisture in the box and some gray foam around what i assume to be the crankcase breather tube. Now I just changed the oil and filter last month, and the oil looked good then. so the first thing i did now, was to peer through the oil level window--again the oil looked right...it looked like fairly new oil (it was not gray or white) and it had NO layering. Next i checked the coolant reservoir...it was right in the middle. So...i went for a ride anyway. Sixty miles later...the oil this looks right, neither gray nor foamy white. Now of late, I've been taking cold rides, air temp of around 40 or so degrees. I guess my question is: is this moisture a sign of these cold rides or do I had a problem growing here? I've had several water cooled bikes and have never seen this before. And last Spring when I last cleaned the original air filter, there was no sign of moisture/water then. Any Thoughts? As always, thanks in advance for your advice.
  21. Hey Cats... yeah that's right. Eat your hearts out. Trigger and I logged a whole 24 miles today. How long till spring? Big Smiles All!
  22. Hey Cats! (been a while) YamaHawg... Hey Squidley, (not trying to steal the thread but), if your font gets any smaller im gonna hafta get a Magnifying glass to read it. in the browser of choice...you can always change you font size by using the following key combinations: Ctrl++ [that's Control+[the plus key]] to go bigger with the font, and... Ctrl+- [that's the Control+[the minus key]] please give it a try.. later all
  23. "Poor"...Poor man's Tach. Yes, I am an Idiot...just ask the Kids, the wife, pretty much anyone at work... thanks for the help, I'll check out the link.
  24. hello all, Looking for a little help here. Several months back, someone posted a thread talking about how he had used computer/laptop with a microphone and some software to determine the bike's current RPM. I've been trying to locate that thread to no avail. anyway, I was wondering if this rang a bell with any of you out there. Oh...yeah, my goal here is to find the name of that program. I could have sworn that i downloaded it way back then...but then again, i can't find it now. Thanks in advance, Ron
