Sorry Just had to copy and past this from the other post to this one: What everyone has said about Bob is an example of what more of the human race should be like. When my bike was run off the road in 2007 and I decided to buy it back from the insurance and rebuild it, Bob was on the phone in a heart beat asking what I needed in the way of parts and faster than the man of steel he and Becky magically showed up at my place of work here north of the border in Burlington Ontario, with a trunk load of parts and wanted not dime in return. I had only been with VR less than a year I believe and I did not know him nor him me and yet there he was in my time of need. On another occasion while returning from the Guntersville AL. international Rally, I decided to veer off my route home and pay Bobby and Becky a visit. Due to the fact that it was mid afternoon they insisted I stay for supper and then later as it started to cloud over insisted I stay the night which was followed by a great breakfast. It was a good thing to, as had I not stayed I would have got caught in one nasty lightning storm. Bobby has continue to be on my list of favorites from that time on. The only down side of knowing Bobby was the physical distance between us otherwise I know I would have enjoyed spending more time with him. My wife Marita was with me a couple of times to go visit Bob and Becky and she loved them both. We will both miss him a true friend and solid patriot very much. I know his new friends will love him just as much

As Tom put it I think many of us were better people for knowing him. He had a way about him never boisterous but always noticeable. Never loud but always seen. Never angry but always helpful. I will miss my friend and it will be impossible to forget you.

Heart breaking news for sure. Bob is still a priority in my prayers.

Trailering your bike? Ohhhh the shame of it all. How I can I ever hold my head up around you BTW I plan on heading out thur am as well.

The only reason I am 4 cans short of a six pack is because Had I not been of so generous a nature I would have been 6 cans short but as it stand I saved 2 one for each of you. And before you's ask I can't divulge what happened to the other 4 as I have been sworn to secrecy. Now just for the record Marco don't just think i'm OK ...She adores me cause she thinks ...i'm special Its Ok Tom...No need to cry I am more than Happy to be your friend. I also feel sorry about pour Taters ribs. However if I may be a bit truthful these things can happen when you get a hug from the second best hugger. She was fine after she got a hug from me, a little starry eyed maybe but definitely fine, hence my title of VR's #1 bestest hugger.

Sorry to hear about your situation Don. Hopefully they find the root cause and find a solution for you. Chabicheka was/or is in the same boat. He was having vertigo attacks and this is why he switched from 2 wheels to 3 wheels. Apparently from my last conversation with him the meds he is on is helping. I know from personal experience vertigo is no fun. Lay down and stare at a stippled ceiling and it moves like waves on the water making you get sea sick, closing your eyes only makes it worse. I used gravol to get through it but they were just a couple of small short bouts nothing as bad as what you seem to be having. I seriously hope you get to the bottom of this and will be able to continue to ride at the end of this.

In the past I have used STP engine flush on vehicles that had lifters so noisy that the engines sounded like diesel engines. This stuff you poured into a hot engine and just let it sit and idle for 15-20 minutes (DO NOT DRIVE) and you could just hear the noise slowly disappear. After you idle it for the rcomended time you drain the oil immediately while hot and change the filter. in all four cases that I used it the engines ran like new and they remained running quiet from that point on. One risk there is to flushing the engine is that if it has a lot of miles its the sludge that could be keeping the seals from leaking preventing piston ring blowby or oil consumption and once cleaned out the seals could start to leak and the engine could start using oil. In my case none of the vehicles I used it on had any negative side affects and all ran like a dream.

This is really sad to hear. I will continue to pray for Bob and Becky.

I have a black and grey motorcycle seat from a first gen I am trying to clean. Time has shown its handy work as the light grey has pretty much turned black and I have tried a host of cleaners to try and clean it (even a bit of brake clean on a rag in a not so noticeable spot, That was scary I don't think the vinyl like that move at all) So far I have had the best luck with a product called citra clean http://citraclean.com/ and elbow grease. so far I have only worked on the center triangle of the seat as shown in the pic attached. If any one has a great solution I would love to know it.

Near the end they have a question answer session. In it they state you can run it as long in the oil as you like but recommend the just before oil change so that the dissolved sludge is drained out rather than continually circulating through the oil system I believe they make a product strictly for automatic transmissions. Check ther web site but I know I have seen it on the shelf here at Canadian tire. Type of cleaner is the issue rather than whether or not to do it. You want to dissolve the sludge not break it up. A prime example is pouring water in the intake to clean up carbon, it works but if your too aggressive the water will actually break the carbon off in chunks which can do engine damage. In the case you speak of the damage is already done by running non-detergent oil and the sludge is actually helping to seal the damaged rings and cylinder walls but gets so thick once you you attempt to clean it out it breaks up in pieces that float around in the oil. Again the reason why sea foam recommends only running it prior to doing an oil change so that the crap gets drained out. I am pretty sure in your case this has to be an isolated incident since most in their right minds would not be fool enough to run non detergent oil in a vehicle.

Tried that too but since I tend to clench my jaws when I concentrate all I got was a world of hurt (yes despite Marcarls slanderous statement I do close my yap.......occasionally ). Don't answer that Carl:backinmyday: Dang ...tooo late That could make for an interesting road trip.

Thanks but I have tried that. I know half a dozen ways to bleed brakes and clutches having worked on all kinds of the stuff my whole life and tried em all. So far nothing has solved my issue. So far tossing an over ride switch in to manually turn my rad fan on early has accomplished the best results. Not a fix but a reasonable patch so far.

You forgot to mention Direction will change ..........usually 180 degrees .......

I love my Gen one despite that it is top heavy but yu do have to learn to ride it a little differently. 1st you don't lean with the bike as much as you would with a bike that has a lower center of gravity. and the slower you go the less you lean with the bike. Its almost closer to riding an off road bike than a highway machine. EG: on a slow tight turn in a parking lot or a U turn in the the street (affectionately known as the Marcarl maneuver ),let the bike lean under you while you yourself remain almost vertical in order to counter balance the top heaviness of the bike. Now of course the faster you corner the more you will lean with the bike but not so much as you would with other bikes you need to maintain a certian amount of counter balance. 2nd You do need to brake a tad sooner with this bike than others due to its added wieght. The bike has a linked brake system in that the right front brake is connected to the handle bar brake and used alone does not have a lot of stopping power. The left front brake is proportionately, linked to the rear foot brake, so when you apply the foot brake only the left front and rear brake apply. The thing to be aware of here is that when in loose gravel 0r 0n a paved road that is either covered with loose sand or gravel or is wet, if you apply to much rear brake the front will lock up and could slide out from under you. On another note apply both hand and foot brake on say dry pavement the front wheel will lock up and do a nose stand (found this out the first summer I got my venture and I was cut off with no place to go. the front wheel left a 3 foot skid mark before catapulting me over the handle bars). I also found out about the linked front brake the hard way when riding in the country and could not understand why I almost lost control of the front end when applying only the foot brake on a sand covered road. I came to a stop sign saw the sand and applied just the rear brake when my front wheel proccedded to slide out to the side. I quickly released the brake and made a second gentler attempt with the same result. That was when I 1st realized The bike had linked brakes. This also became an issue if I pulled off the road on to a soft shoulder really had to pay attention to your braking. Since then I have de-linked the brakes and now both font brakes function from the handlebar while the rear is fully independent. I find this gives me better control overall specially on gravel (beware though too much rear brake on gravel could cause the back wheel to slide side ways). Also with both front brakes linked to the handle bar lever the front wheel has greater independent stopping power. Some like myself love this modification others not so much. 3rd although the bike has amazing stability at highway speeds standing still at a stop sign with a fair cross wind definitely requires two feet on the ground as the bike feels like it could blow over other times I have no issue with only one foot down while holding the foot brake with my right foot to keep from rolling backwards on an incline. But you need long enough legs for this bike. I have a 32 inch inseam and I can quite comfortably place both feet flat on the ground with my knees still slightly bent. Once you get the hang of this bike and learn how to co-exist with it though I cannot think of a nicer bike to ride. I even prefer my 1989 to the 2019 which I road tested in WNY last year.

As Carl said today's doctors can do wonders but even they can use a bit of extra help so prayers for both the doctors and you father for a successful surgery.

Realy was hoping. for better news than this. I hope and pray he pulls through this ordeal.

I'm off work this week for some well deserved R&R. No one to deal with but me my dog (and my wife if I don,t find a good enough hiding spot ).

So why stop there a real improvement would be to go back to XP You make that sound like a bad thing
