Or maybe its because whether you are under a socialist Government or Democratic government it still boils down to how Fair those who run the country treat its citizens. Some Americans for example think Canada is a socialist country but we are not. We for the most part are a Democracy just like the US. However certain rights do differ and some governing rules do differ. Now there are Countries who truly do have a socialist government but still exercise a free vote and some in cases are run better than some democratic countries and their are some socialist countries that are not run as well as some democratic countries. You have people in the US that wish your country was more like Canada and we have people in Canada that wish Canada was more like the US. Then you have the people who want a Socialist government, but they are only looking at Socialist countries that are well run were health care and a comfortable retirement is for the most part somewhat universal and poverty is in the very low numbers and people have the same freedoms as a democratic country. But like democratic countries not all Socialist countries are ideal. Again it boils down to by who and how a country is run, whether it be by a governing body or by the wealthy Which ever the case may when a society is unhappy they look to the alternative but almost always look at the example of a well run country and fail to look at the countries were the same political system is not working to the benifit of all its citizens versus working for a select privileged few. In a nut shell the grass is always greener on the other side, just ask any cow.

Pretty much the same here. totally exhausted when I get into the house from all the work I have been doing and tend to fall asleep as soon as I hate the lazy boy. last few times I came on chat I did not last long and fell asleep in the chair. On a good note getting caught up on the Job jar.

So because of the Covid thing and the US/CAN border being closed We will be unable to attend Marita's Fathers funeral, in Highland IL, Which is breaking her heart. The funeral itself will be a very limited affair with strick social distancing as well. Yesterday One of her Aunts down there has came up with the idea of setting up a ZOOM connection to allow Marita and other distant familly members to visually attend the funeral. Last night we did a dry run and it worked very well. Of course the consideration of her Aunt to come up with and follow through on this had Marita break out in tears. The funeral portion would be muted so visual only. There will then be an after funeral gathering at Her Aunts with limited guests and social distancing wear she will set her laptop up on a table with another Zoom session but with limited access for family only where my wife will be able to communicate other family members during the reception.

Thank you everyone for your kind words and prayers. It was his time and we knew it was coming and we take comfort in that he suffered very little in his last remaining days here on earth.

Sorry to hear about your plight there Phil. I don't know how reassuring this is but better than half of my wife's side of the family have diabetes 2, but it certainly does not slow them down. I guess as long as you stick to the rules and you watch what you eat you can still have a pretty normal life.

This Morning around 7:00 AM my wife Marita's Father who lived in Highland IL. Passed away. He had been on at home dialysis for a few years now but this past month things had not been going so well. He has been back and forth to the hospital a couple times and yesterday before releasing him they were going to arrange for in home palliative care. This morning things took a turn for the worst and then he was gone. So please offer up a Prayer in Behalf of My father in law and his Familly.

you left a big gap in your directions Puc. After Dogmans and before heading in the direction of Michigan you gots to climb over the skyway bridge then you take the first exit follow through one intersection around a bend to the right past the tim hortons to the 1st street after those glowy things that cant seem to decide if they want to be green yellow or red. Do a right, left, right and then follow your nose to the burgers. Same as Marcarls but taste better because they are better done. Theres a reason why @Marcarl made me cook at his annual M&E. he wants to bring out the best of his burgers. After that you get on the 403 sniff the air for source of those well made burgers and NOW follow that scent in THE DIRECTION of Michagan to Marcarls.

Both my parents emigrated here from Holland in 52 settling at 1st in New Bruinswick were I was born in 53. Outside of my parents and our now extended family all my relatives are still in Holland. I too got a cool education on running the mill while I was there. The real amazing part is the grind stones they are actually chiseled out by hand.

I really don't know. I know people have done it through various means but I would need a lot more free time and given our family name actually started with the vikings so many thousand years ago that would leave a lot of branches to climb through. Also if you like stuff made out of wood check this desk out built in the 1700's.

Something interesting I learned when I was over there visiting my cousins is there is a fully functioning historic windmill with my family name on it. Weather or not it is part of my ancestry I have no idea but it would be kinda cool if it was. 90% 0f the gears shafts and levers are made of wood. The governor is by way of fly weights which drive is driven by a leather belt and as the weights fly out the tighten a band made of leather and wood blocks around the main fly gear to control max speed. the whole head/dome sits on rollers so it can rotate into the wind. the picture with me in it gives you some idea how big these wooden gears are.

With only that little amount of tooth contact, it is easy to see that it would not take much wear for either in the teeth, pawl or pivot pin to have a failure. Having been pinned under a car that fell on me and barely lucky to survive, just thinking about it gives me the jitters.

I wonder who the manufacturer is. They may have made those same stands for other brand names.

Gee @Patch your such an understanding guy

A point well made about the face mask valve. Even though I am well aware of why that valve is there, what you just said never even dawned on me . So, if it does not occur to those of us who understand the function of the valve, what does that say for those who have no idea.
