  1. SHOT GUN METHOD Its from the Vmax site but it applies to the Venture as well. https://vmax.lvlhead.com/tips/shotgun.htm
  2. I can definitely see the benefits to this because you can leave the house with properly inflated tires but pick up a nail or screw for example along the way. As the tire looses air the sidewalls flex more. The more they flex the higher the side wall temps go. This side wall temp increase over time weakens the side wall and could eventually cause a serious blow out. Being able to monitor your tire pressure would definitely help safe guard you against something like this.
  3. Just curious when you saw him .......did he maybe misunderstand you when you told him to SCATT
  4. Except he does say it runs with the choke on so I would assume he has spark therefore I would be inclined to agree on plugged jets or sticking sliders.
  5. I ordered a a few sets of diaphragms from JBM Industries on a number of occasions and have been very pleased with them. They are easy to deal with have a fast turn around time and will respond to any questions in a timely fashion. They are also a US company. The part number for the diaphragm is BS34 http://jbmindustries.com/index.html BTW the set I put in my own bike have been there for 5 or 6 years and still working perfectly. they are slightly different than the OEM and you need to remove the white plastic rings from the sliders. Then carefully pry them over the lip like mounting a tire just do not overstretch them http://jbmindustries.com/Yamaha650.html In case you miss it there is a special note near the bottom of the page of the second link referring to the Venture instalation Yamaha Venture Notes: The 73 mm Mikuni Diaphragm fits the Venture models even with plastic slides. Remove the short metal tube from the plastic slide if loose, and remove the rings. Place the JBM Industries diaphragm on the metal tube, and then push tube into the plastic slide. Use Super Glue on metal tube. If metal insert tube is not loose, just cut the rings off plastic slide with side cutters as shown. Here is a Video instruction as well.
  6. That's right that old geezer @Marcarl is celebrating another birthday. He may not want any more birthdays but I am Bet'n he is always glad to make it to another one.
  7. How is it these people can protest and face troops of LEO's and militia in riot gear. yet ignore an epidemic of gang violence which is occurring daily on our streets.
  8. I notice it states that it is Dust and waterproofing: IEC 60529 compliant but does not state to what degree of IP standard it measures up to. For example is the unit only water spray resistant or is it water proof in standing water or high pressure water spray. It would really suck if after spending all that money that you discover water got into the electronic portion and ruined it. Also what kind of permissions does the APP require. I find some APPS like the one for my BBQ temp monitor wants access to everything on my phone. Just to measure my meat Temp? Needless to say I do not use the APP, its not that hard to get up and walk over to my BBQ.
  9. Glad your feeling much better @BIG TOM. If you would have been stuck in Bed any Longer I would have had to send @Marcarl over to keep you entertained. It would have been a win win situation Carl would get your mind off your pain and he would have a captive audience (and you know he just loves a captive audience) Hope for your sake this was just a one time freak thing. Take care Buddy :canada::canada:
  10. There is a VR facebook Page? How do you get to it and do you need facebook as I am not on facebook.
  11. Not to favor any one device over the other since I have a homemade one with a gauge and a Morgan Carb tune as well as an old fashion manometer. But from what I understand of the Motion pro backing the adjusting screws out closes the tubes. and screwing them in opens the tubes, which is backwards to ones normal thought process. So if the screws are turned too far in you would suck out the fluid or may introduce air bubbles. You would actually need to back them out all the way and then just turn them in as little as possible to calibrate the tubes. Also if you approach most any tool dealer that sells water manometer's they can usually supply dye to mix with water which you could then use in your motion pro.
  12. With all that has been going on in your country, it's bad enough if this was loss of control due to intoxication But I sure hope this wasn't a deliberate action by the individual because he was intoxicated enough to gain the courage to execute such a heinous act.
  13. In which case there is still plenty of time, because to write a speech thats long winded enough for Marcarl, to deliver is not easy last time I wrote a speech for him he complained that he ran out of speech long befoe he ran out of speechafieing momentum .
  14. The pants I have been wearing the last few days would have made my mother happy. they dont offer any protection but you can scrape your knees without damaging. the pants. when ever we came home with torn jeans and scrapped knees she would always say the knees will heal the pants she has to fix.
  15. More so for beginners but still a good reminder for all us ---I mean all of you old farts.
  16. Glad everyone had a good time and looking forward to seeing whatever pics were taken. I spent the weekend green with envy and mopping around the house because I could not go. Not entirely true. I did take a lot of long rides on the scoot too let the wind blow away my sorrows. Mostly I just missed being able to spend quality time with all my VR .brothers and sisters. Hopefully next year will be a different story. In the mean time stay safe stay healthy.
  17. Sounds to me that either you calibration screws are improperly adjusted (TOO FAR OPEN) or missing. Maybe this video will help
  18. Its not really a coating. Its just that due to the hardening process used the metal near the surface is harder than the metal near the core.
  19. Look for a product made by Permatex called THE RIGHT STUFF it is the best engine sealant I have ever used far better than silicone. Any parts place should carry it. I have used it many times even replaced entire gaskets with it. NAPA https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/PTW25228 AUTOZONE https://www.autozone.com/sealants-glues-adhesives-and-tape/sealant/permatex-the-right-stuff-black-one-minute-gasket-sealant-7-5oz/15766_0_0 ADVANCE AUTO PARTS https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/permatex-the-right-stuff-gasket-maker-5-oz-29208/16160024-P
  20. Are you familiar with this site as a safe site. The reason I ask is I found something on this site https://www.lugyimins.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=530556 and next thing I knew the bank froze my card and then left me MSG to call them. They said the site was connected to a Company out of China with a reputation of running scams.
  21. I used to but since tearing the cartilage in my knee I can no longer do that
  22. It is actually not a seal its a metal seat with a sealing lip bonded on the edge. Ironically the only starting using it in 88. prior to that the lower tube had that seat machined into the bottom of it. But in the shop manual they do not show it, showing only the earlier version. It does show it in the parts list for 88 and 89 wear in 86 the show the same thing except without that seat and a different part number for the lower tube. But thanks for looking just the same
  23. Two years ago when Carl and went to reseal the forks on my bike we found that they had progressive springs installed. In the process the clown put those hat looking seats in upside down. It would appear they could not get the lower damper bolt in so instead of thinking they put something in wrong they ground down the ends of the dampers so the would go down through the hole on one and the pounded the other one on to the damper shaft distorting it on the other. Plus in the process they destroyed the seal lip. I had the 2nd 89 sitting there so we stole the forks off it to get my bike back on the road. Well now that I am off work I decided to rebuild the forks and put them on the 2nd 89 so I can get it road worthy again but finding those two parts has been impossible and since I am currantly not working do not have spare cash to go looking for a good used set of forks at this time.
  24. As long as we respect each others opinion and maybe even broaden our outlook by actually listening to each other with open minds we all stand to learn a little something because non of us are 100% informed about anything. that why we have a tech section on our site to learn what we do not know.
