  1. I know who you are and I think you should feel ashamed of yourself for those initial comments. Freebird works hard on this site. Hey @Freebirddo I get any extra points for this suck up ?
  2. Well from my point of view and this is just me I tend to agree with signatures not being displayed on the cell phones. As you stated when it comes to little screens they clutter up pretty quick. I also find it interesting how when you click on a post it puts you right were you left off the last time you read that post.
  3. I did notice that @Freebird and I thought that was great because like you said the old way was subject to the correct spelling and format.
  4. I am inclined to agree with Marcarl. There was a tech bulletin out years back that the second gear was an issue. Yamaha was repairing these under warranty at the time and the tech was required to place the two punch marks after the repair to indicate that the repair was performed
  5. I agree with @Flyinfool and there fore have never been a big fan of these. You need to consider that solder joints are only truly reliable on new and/or very clean wire. If the integrity of the soldered connection is not as good as it should be you may end up with resistance in the connection. Under a heavy enough load that poor connection will heat up and in many cases the solder will melt and the connection will come apart. In the trucking industry wiring is an on going battle specially in places like here in Ontario were salt is used on the roads in winter. So like wise I am not a fan of the one piece crimp connector with heat shrink because often times when you crimp these the insulation gets pierced and as a result I have seen many of these turn green and fall apart. The most reliable form of connection I have used is the bare crimp type butt connectors and for very severe conditions I will prefill the connector with dialectic grease (in a pinch silicone brake lube or Vaseline also work well ) I then slide a piece of dual wall with sealant heat shrink over the connection (slid on to one of the wires prior to making connection ) I have never had this type of connection fail on any equipment regardless how severe the environmental conditions it is exposed to. Crimp connectors; ask @Marcarlwhat my preference is. I once threw out his cheap Walmart specials and replaced it in his tool box with an extra pair I had in the truck LOL. I prefer the type made like the ones made by Klien, Channelok or stake-on.
  6. No Idea as yet. Just know I want to take advantage of the nice weather if the forecast holds true
  7. I am Happy and the next few upcoming day's look even happier since I foresee some MC millage being added to my odometer.
  8. Please forgive me for the above post, If it was out of line. It was never meant to open Pandora's box and start a controversial thread. I don't know enough about American politics to have an opinion one way or the other. I only wanted to express my sincere hopes that however the vote goes, that at the end of the day, it's the American people as a whole in health and freedoms that walk away from this election as the true winners in the long run. I also apologize to you @Freebirdit was never meant to hijack your thread. Best Wishes to all of you.
  9. So far no snow here
  10. What does that all mean.
  11. Read again I offered you superior not substandard, hot fresh brewed coffee! In case you don't understand the word superior which you seem not to it means better than good.
  12. Got it thanks again
  13. Stars? there's stars? Maybe one star means your number 1. You are in my book. Besides How can anyone rate a site when your not even done fine tuning it. If I can be patient and give it some time to prove itself anyone can. Now get some ZZZ's before you fall of the chair. So far its looking great BTW.
  14. Fortunately I do a lot of wood working so I have a good supply of wood shavings and sawdust - Cost .........NOTHING and works great. Only down side is it won't have the same fire resistance as commercial floor dry products but if I manage to use my head right (yeh I do manage to pull it off once in a while ) that has not been an issue on the odd occasion I needed to use a torch or welder.
  15. Not my fault if you can't wait a few minutes for superior hot fresh brewed coffee and feel the need to settle for substandard coffee which you don't drink when you get here anyway because your busy talking to Marita. Your lucky she has a soft spot for stray's.
  16. Looking good so far boss. And I am not even as confused or as intimidated as I feared I would be. Great job hope you take the time to slip in a few ZZZZZ's while your at it. Oh still can't figure out how to turn this [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] back into its former picture in my signature line.
  17. What makes you so sure that you aint the 1st one you put on your ignore list
  18. So Because @Marcarlis a subscribed I have to put up with him calling all the time asking if the coffee is on yet. I'm gonna need to study on that
  19. It does seem the only time the middle class or blue collar segment of our society catches a break is when we have a minority government. This same group of members of society seemed to get pushed aside and ignored any time we have a majority government regardless who the ruling party is. Go Figure.
  20. Puc I get the give me liberty or give me death thing but I do believe it means to fight for your liberty and with the tools and weapons you need to do so. Not lay down your arms, turn your back on the enemy and allow yourself to get shot down because you think they will just walk away. You take every possible measure you can, to defend yourself against the enemy. In this case covid is the enemy with masking and social distancing being the weapons in this battle. Putting your head in the sand and refusing to take proper steps to protect yourself and loved ones from this enemy is not fighting Its expecting the enemy to just get up and walk away. Now before I really get myself into trouble I am going to crawl back in my corner. But do understand I state my opinion only because I care about you guys and do not want to see or hear of any of you getting sick because I hope to once again be able to rub elbows with you all laughing and joking in person like we were able to do before this tragedy struck.
  21. Hard to tell from the pictures but that one cam lobe looks as though it may be starting to wear through the hard facing. If that is the case then it would not be long and pieces of cam lobe will start breaking out. Some pretty much holds true if the lobe overheated as Marcarl suggested possible due to lack of lubrication in which case there too pieces of cam may start to break away. This is because once the metal in the cam overheats its temper will have changed. Again as Carl suggest unless you just want the joy of rebuilding the engine I would more than likely be more economical to find another engine or bike.
  22. I have been trying to say this to my kids for years but the younger generation just thinks you're paranoid and ridiculous. They can make all the Privacy promises they want but let's face it wherever you put your information somebody there has access to it and there's no guarantee as to what they will do with it. Tell them that one day we will all be just like on Star Trek and nothing more than cyborgs unthinking members of a collective.
  23. Not to get too involved in American politics But whoever you all vote for I hope you people strongly consider who is going to be the best suited , most responsible and intelligent candidate to deal with keeping your society healthy in this covid crisis. I realize there are other issues that are also on the table but for the sake of all of you I hope you put your health first the other issues are meaningless if your too sick to care. I realize there are alot out there that still do not believe covid exits but better to be a live fool than a sick or dead skeptic.
  24. Keep in mind Patch that water always finds its own level So just for argument sake consider the carb float bowl as being empty The rad is full the cylinder has a flaw allowing water to enter on top of the piston and the intake valve is not closed but the exhaust is. The water level in a full rad is higher than the top of the carbs. in finding its own level the water leaks into the cylinder into the intake fills the venturi where it can make use of a number of passages to enter the float bowl. You keep comenting on the needle seat being closed but that passage does not enter the venturi that is only a shut off for fuel entering the bowel from the fuel line. there are numerous other passages which if you ever rebuilt one of these carbs you would notice. Now add pressure as in testing and you overrule the water level principle based on gravity etc. and drive the water from the high pressure area to the low pressure area. The other possibility for the source of internal coolant leaks is if the intake is closed and there is a crack in the head between the intake passage and water jacket in the head. Which @Popsnana19655would make having the head checked for cracks a good idea before reinstalling it
