Although I am new to venture riders, and we have never met, I would like to pass on to you my heart felt sorrow for your loss. From the pics I have seen on this site, its obvious that she has left you with some very speacial memories that span the time you had together.Never let go of those, they are her lifes gift to you.

Truoble with synthetic is it lubricates too well. therfore it actually works against the idea of lapping the rings in and actually causes the engine to take much longer to break in. use good regular oil until broken in then switch to synthetic.

100% in agreement . the heavy loading forces the rings out towards the cylinder walls which helps to seat them in better. as well don't stay at one speed vary your road speed up and down

I use wet skins. there durable, comfortable, no leaks, good all year round and available at most outdoor stores or tackle shops. they are also very inexpensive

what you say is true, specialy with regards to the side wall, however remember he was proving the quality and reliability of his product. I myself have never had one fail used in the tread area, i still hesitate to use them as a perment fix in the side wall however.

try this link http://www.stopngo.com/plugger.asp I've used maney of these types of kits over the years on everything from small vehicles to 18 wheelers (used with vulcanizing cement] and the repairs are usually perminent and reliable. One of my suppliers demos them by ramming them through the side wall of his front tire. that tire had 350 plugs in it by the time he wore it out.

If the cable is turned dark even flux won't help solder to stick. if you use acid core (ment for plumbing) the solder will stick but in time the acid flux itself will eat at the wiring. I too prefer a good mechanical crimp over soldering. I have seen situations were the cable has gotten warm enough to melt the solder and the jiont has let go. Some of the equipment I work on will draw 1000 amps while cranking. When making a crimp use a proper qaulity crimp tool, don't just gimble the terminal. An added touch i like to use because a lot of my wiring sees wet salty environments is too coat the wire and terminal with dielectric grease before assembly, this helps seal the connection t, then I cover with high qaulity heat shrink tubing (the type with hot melt sealer in it).

if the joint has any corrosion or the copperhas aged it wont solder properly anyway i would cut the crimp out and rejoin the wires then solder it. then seal it with heatshrink tubing

I can honestly say ive never dumped a bike . well except for the one time I got into deep gravel on a construction site. Oh and ther was that one time i jumped on a bke side saddle to get it started and i fell over to the other side . oh i guess I did lay one down nce when a p/u truck cut a turn right acrooss the front of me, not my fault . Oh yeh a tree jumped out and atacked me during a back country mx race causing me go down, not my fault either i guess

I wouldn't even want to imagine. I have 5 kids who I love very much, and for this reason my heart and sorrow go out to all those who are forced to face the reality of loosing a child. I dont believe these type of wounds are ever healed by time. LOL to all parents.

had the same problem. replaced the bolts with large head diameter dome type torx screws then contact cemented a sheet of 1/4 inch high density foam to the under side of the lid.

As a truck technician with 35 years experiance I cant tell you how many trucks over the years I have seen burn to the ground due to truckers using under size wire and over size fuses when adding extra lights to thier rigs. play it safe 16 ga. wire for 10 amps, 14 ga. wire for 15 amps and 12 ga. wire for 20 amps. its worth the safty margin

don't trust the reply without checking the wire size protected by this fuse it should be at least 16 guage for a 10 amp fuse and 14 gauge for a 15 amp fuse. My suggestion would be to connect a 2 wire flat connecter similar to that of the battery tender they can be bought at any parts store come as a mateing pair often used for trailer wiring.connect directly to yuor battery with an inline fuse and adapt the other half to your pump.

As a rule if it smokes when you open the throttle rings are suspect, if it smokes when you close the throttle as in using your gears going down a hill valve seals or guides are suspect. as the engine oil heats up it tends to burn more readily. also if the bike sat a long time it may A) just need a good run, Or B) a bit of rust may have formed on the cyl walls this sometimes damages the oil control rings

IF THEY FROZE ITS BECAUSE THEY SOMEHOW DISCHARGED YOU CAN ACTUALLY FULLY CHARGE A BATTERY AND STORE IT IN YOUR FREEZER. AS LONG AS A BATTERY IS NOT HOOKED UP TO ANYTHING IT TAKES LONGER TO DISCHARGE AT LOWER TEMP.I ONCE HAD A CHART WHICH SHOWED THE DISCHARGE RATE OF BATTERY AT VARIOUS TEMP AND IF I FIND IT I WILL POST IT. IT HAS ALSO BEEN PROVEN THAT A BATTERY DOES NOT DRAIN ANY FASTER WHEN SITTING ON CONCRETE.

Most truck stops are excellant sources for cb antennas at reasonable prices. make sure to check your swr if you purchase one with an adjustable tip above the loading coil. -
I did not have an inside spot to store my bike so, I put a plastic sheet down on th driveway, placed a 3/4" sheet of exterior plywood on top upon which I parked the bike, after filling the tank, adding the right amount of stabl, and giving it a short run I then connected a 2 amp charger to the battery, which in turn I hooked to a timer set to come on every day for 1/2 an hour. (i did not remove the battery from the bike a fully charged battery will not freeze). Finaly I ran a one inch load strap from the rear luggage rack over the center of the windshield prior to covering the bike, this keeps the snow from piling up on the bike cover. Come spring the bike fires right up.
