  1. Greetings to all from switzerland. I don,t know how maney but I gotta say after watching the way they ride over here even more so in Italy and the risks they take and get away with it just blows my mind that we even get hit at all. we ride 100 times more careful than they do here. p.s. saw three swiss cops with siren,s going booting it down the road on vespa scooters. tried for pics but they were just too fast,:rotf:
  2. Hey maybe i can smuggle some back for the rally
  3. Sorry Rieny but this time tomorrow night I'll be on a flight to germany so I wont be able to make it or I would:confused24:
  4. Sorry to disagree with you on this one freebird but helli coils are not the best choice for this as they may leak along the threads. However there are thread repairs that are similiar to a helli coil but are solid, install them with a good qaulity pipe sealant on the threads. failing that go with the oversize drain plug or tap the hole out to accept a bigger drain plug. One down fall of the oversize drain plug that taps its own thread is that If your not carefull you can cut the thread poorly install using a socket, ratchet and long extension at least 6 inches. this way you can use two hands and keep things steady, just using a wrench will cause too much wobble and loose fitting threads.
  5. Sorry to hear they went down but glad they did not get hurt worse than they did luck and prayers to them for a speedy recovery.
  6. you must be new to 1st gen or you would have known to batten everything down prior to achieving warp speed you must ave upgraded from a second gen:stirthepot::stirthepot::rotf::rotf:
  7. my job just takes me to the loony bin:rotf::rotf:
  8. Glad you didn't get hurt . On the other hand that left fairing and rear trunk look to be in need of a new home, and i know I can help you with that. :whistling:
  9. heres a link to a really good resize program that Marcarl sent me when I had the same problem. its easy and works good http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...powertoys.mspx
  10. If you do decide to cut it down yourself , layout masking tape along and below the cut line. take the bike for a little ride before you actually cut it so you have a fair idea if this is were you want to make your cut. when your sure lay a couple more strips below the fisrt one to protect the plastic from scratches while cutting. once cut take a single cut mill file (rather then the common double cut bastard file which is too aggressive ) hold it with one hand on each end lay it across the edge and slide the file sideways back and forth along the cut edge until it is smooth. by changing the tilt of the file with each stroke you can create a rounded edge:080402gudl_prv:
  11. That could change now that your riding a honda:rotf::rotf: And as for you hippy glad you relitivly OK
  12. Know how you feel mother, going down is no fun, glad to hear your in one piece for the most part though. PS if she was charged you should have no problem getting it fixed through insurance.
  13. I wonder if the light control computer on the new rsv. can be reprogrammed to handle led's lower electrical load. On big rigs when we switch over to led's we can go into the computer to change the parameter to reflect the change maybe ask your dealer. on the truck the omputer looks for 500mw we change it to look for 300mw
  14. GLAD YOUR FEELING OK THERE HIPPY, BUT I DO SUGGEST YOU GET THAT SHOULDER X-RAYED, YOU COULD HAVE A SEPARATED SHOULDER AND NOT REALIZE IT. YOUR COLLAR BONE IS ATTACHED TO YOUR SHOULDER BLADE BY A DIME SIZED PIECE OF CARTALIDGE AND IN FALLS LIKE YOURS IT SHEARS. IT HAPPENED TO ME ONCE AND IT WASN'T UNTIL I HAD IT X-RAYED THREE DAYS LATER THAT I FOUND OUT WHY MY ARM AND SHOULDER HURT SO BAD EVERY TIME I PICKED UP SOMETHING HEAVY. OTHER THAN THAT MAY EVERYTHING WORK OUT WELL FOR YOU.
  15. yup what he said. my 89 and my pals 84 ---same thing
  16. also hard soled shoes help a lot and if your lucky enough to have computer air ride set your ride hieght to max front and rear makes a big difference:080402gudl_prv: failing that register for the wieder weight training program
  17. mine does it too and the local dealer said it was typical of the 1st gen but he claimed it had to do with the alternator' that it was normal and nothing to worry about
  18. how about a spin on fuel filter like on a diesel truck (no tools required to change takes one minute) one flaw I havent quite found a spot t fit a 4" dia by 6" long can give me a day or two i'll come up with something :detective:
  19. my 89 has the same thing and in that exact order:080402gudl_prv:
  20. I made the mistake of switching the diff oils in my old 4x4 pickup truck too and they started leaking as well apperrantly older seals just tend to dry out and get hard with synthetic because the material used was not designed to handle synthetic BTW chabicheka sorry i missed you at port dover i went into timmys but I didn't see any one
  21. I believe castrol makes a 20w40. however in a warmer climate theres no harm in using 20w50. also your bike being an 89 it will most likely have enough wear and age on it that 20w50 will be fine. . I ran 20w50 in my bike until I switched to amsoil synthetic which I would not recomend because I now have lots of oil leaks which often happens when you switch older engines to synthetic. My next oil change I will be switching back to non synthetic 20w50 oil .
  22. Were friends are concerned there is no such thing as sharing too much at a time like this. What you have on this site is lots of friends wether you met them in person or not. So you share as much as you feel you need too and then some, because we share too. we share in your pain and the loss of a loved one, friend and a fellow biker, and may maney good memories ease the pain of your loss love saddlebum (Ben)
