You need to remember that when you shift gears transmission the speeds between gears differ the ideal perfect shift is when you match the transmission input speed with its out put speed by proper use of clutch and throttle. Mismatch these speeds and you get a clunk match the speeds and you get a smooth shift.its all by feel and getting to know your bike . the faster you go before shifting the more throttle you need to give it to match transmission internal gear speeds

Sorry about the bike but happy your ok. Your are right every once in awhile we need a reminder to be constantly alert. Regardless of riding experience and skill it is all to easy to suddenly not pay attention or get side tracked and it only takes a second or less for something to go wrong.

max tire preasure is what the max preasure and wieght a tire is rated at. The weight of the vehicle actually determines how much air you should put in. As a rule if preasure is too high for the weight imposed on the tire you will get excesive wear in the middle of the tread if it is too low you will get excesive shoulder wear on the tire and excesive side wall flexing . if the tire wear's evenly across the tread then your preasure is right for the weight imposed on the tire.

Took my wheels into Zednos today. I had avon venoms put on by Zednos last fall and with less than 200 km on them the sidewalls were cracking. Al at Zednos with no hesitation at all replaced them at no charge Even gave me the option to choose from different brands, at which point I opted to go back to the Dunlop 491 elite II which was what I had originaly had and was very pleased with. This is not the first time I have dealt with Zednos and I have always received excellent treatment from them. P/S apparantly Dunlop got a lot of complaints from the goldwing people when they stopped producing the 491 elite II and so are again producing them.

don't confuse the dunlop 404 with the dunlop 491 elite II. The 404 is a cheaper tire than the 491 Elite II. my 491's gave great millage and really good grip in steep bank turns at high speeds and even riding in heavy winds I found them to be very stable and a lot less snakey than the avons
-
I just found out today that dunlop due to popular demand has put the elite II back in production and that is what is going back on my bike . I was really satisfied with my first set.

Probe it if it isnt down to the cord ride it. but seeing how that is an avon check your sidewalls for cracks its been happing a lot latly mine only had 2oo miles on them and they started cracking.

Hey Rieny I would be glad to Hook up along the way with you some were. !st thing I got to do is see what to do about my tires. they are avons wich I bought at Zedno's last fall and with less than 200 km on them the sidewalls are starting to crack . I am going up there this morning to see what he will do for me. Based on that I will decide wether or not I can or should ride to buffalo.
-
Since I lost all summer last year rebuilding my bike and the cracking seems to be just starting, I really don't want to loose anymore riding time while I deal with this problem. does anyone know just how far I can get away with this (probably a real dumb question I know but I am feeling really desparate and disappointed all at the same time right now) and I really want to make it to some of the up and coming M&E's. How about it Squidly your one of the biggest fan's of these tires on the site what is your opinion.

WOW!!! I just put new venoms on my bike in november there wouldn't even be 500 km (300 miles) on them I have only had the bike out four times since I put them on. I went out to look at the date stamp on my tires after reading this post just now and darn if there isn't cracks on the tire side walls. To say the least I am definitly not pleased. I also noticed the date stamp is 4505

My friends Mother called today and told me My friend has beenn taken off life support and the trachea tube has been removed, and even though he is wearing an oxygen mask because of his punctured lungs he is breathing on his own. He is still drifting in and out of consciousness but responds when he is told to do something. So far he is apparrently showing marked improvement.

Spoke to my friends Mom today. He apparently has broken ribs, heart impact trauma, sevaral other broken bones, some brain hemoraging and She forgot what they called it but it is were the brain collides with the inside of the skull. Unfortunatly he never liked a regular helmit prefering to wear one of those little skull caps. They say he was dead on the scene but because of the efforts of both the Dr and Nurse that just happened to be there they more or less revived him and he was taken to the trauma centre at Hamilton General Hospital were they put him in an induced coma and on life support. So for the main good news is is that if he lives there is a good chance he will not be paralized.

Thanks for all the support everyone. Coming from this group its pretty hard to expect anything less. As soon as i am able to find out more I will post it.

I could use a louver for the left side consule and a chrome front grill/air intake for the left side upper fairing should you have any of those kicking about. -
I just found out today that a friend of mine is on life support and in a coma, he is 48 yrs old and has a wife and too beatiful little girls. He had just bought himself a new Harley Fat Bob and it was only his third or forth time out on it, this guy is a highly experienced rider. It happened during rush hour on the QEW in Burlington. Apparently for some unknown reason he was forced to brake extremely hard and lost control of the bike. A doctor and nurse Happen to be right there and tended to him imiadiatly until the ambulance arrived. Witness say he was not speeding or driving recklessly, but no one can say for sure what happened. I am still trying to find out more but I can't reach familly members and the hospital is saying very little at this time to any one who is not direct familly

It isn't just kids you see text messaging it's older and so called wiser people as well inc mothers. In Ontario it is illegal to use a cell phone while driving so more and more people text message keeping there cell phone below the steering wheel of course this means they are looking down not ahead:bang head:

Well said Don and besides we have almost 7,000 members here Does a moderator have to take each and every one by the hand and explain. I think not that would create a lot of work for people who also have a life outside this site and need time for that too. Don in my book you and all the moderators are doing a fine job and I for one will always respect your decision should you ever delete a post of mine for what ever reason, no explanaition required.
