Another simple and quick test is to use an automotive test light. Connect as though you were running a bypass wire if the circuit being tested is good the light will NOT light up. On the other hand if the cicuit is bad or has a weak point the light will glow. the weaker the ciciut the brighter the bulb will glow because it is trying to help out. You can also use this metod to check suspect points in the cicuit by using the test light to bridge the suspect fault here again if the light glows when you load the cicuit the piont between the two ends of the test light is bad or dirty. again this eliminates a lot of time and unnecessary tear down

Great to hear you are up and running again Wayne . See you sat -
As always there are a lot of electrical issues coming up in these forums maney of which are ground related. Most go through a lot of agravation checking there grounds only to find out there is nothing wrong with the ground. True you should always eliminate any possible ground faults as a first step in diagnosing electrical issues. so here is a very useful and simple test to verify your ground condition. what you need a voltmeter a high beam headlight two 3 ft lengths of wire two aligator clips A) connect an alligator clip to one end of each wire B) connect the other end of each wire to a terminal on the high beam headlight 1) connect voltmeter to battery and record the voltage reading eg: 12V 2) connect the alligator clips from the high beam to the batt and record the resulting reading eg: 11.5 V the difference is your voltage drop eg: 0.5 v 3) disconnect the high beam aligator clip and the volt meter test lead from the neg post of the battery only 4) connect the volt meter neg lead to the engine block and read record the voltage reading eg: 12v 5) connect the alligator clip from the high beam to the same point on the engine block and not the voltage eg: 1) 11.2 v voltage drpo is relitivily close to that recorded in step (2) your ground to the engine is good you need not look any further. If for example your voltage upon connecting the high beam dropped to say for eg: 7v than you have a ground issue and need to locate it 6) repeat steps (4 & 5) but connect to the frame of the bike to test if the frame has a proper or faulty ground. this test takes only several minutes to perform and is far more reliable than using an ohmeter because an ohmeter does not load up the circuit which would pass under a light currant load but fail under a heavy load. slight modifications of this test can be used to load test any wire on the bike and will instantly reveal if a wire or circuit is sound or faulty with out having to tear the whole bike down eleminating a lot of unecessary work. By leaving the voltmeter and head light connected to the neg side of the battery and moveing the positive side connections in the same maner the positve side of you electrical system can also be tested you must take more care however when loading up the positve side of the electrical system to be sure you don't accidently load up a sensitive component in the sysem by mistake. In such case i often disconnect both ends of the circuit apply voltage to one end of the wire and connect my voltmeter and then my test load to the other end.

One of my bad habits is to put the kick stand down while runnig in first gear, which of course kills the engine and then I walk away leaving the key in the on position. You will never guess what happens, you come back and the battery is dead. Another one is if you turn the key too far when locking the steering head the parking lights stay on. guess what happens. Right again dead battery:bang head::bang head:

I am not a big fan of using an ohmeter to test for high resistance in a wire. all to often I have seen faulty wires pass the ohmeter test. I prefer to to load test the circuit. To do this you disconnect the wire (not the bat end) connect a volt meter to it and read the voltage connect the clamp of a test light to the negative side of the battery. while reading the voltmeter touch the other end of the test light to the voltmeter probe. If the wire is good you should not see more than a 1/2 volt drop on the meter, if it ..is bad the voltage will take a real nose dive .you can test any part of the cicuit with minor modifications this way on both ground and pos sides. another way is to use a test light as a bypass wire (do not disconnect any wires with this method ) you connect as though you were doubling up the wire you testing. Simply power up the cicuit if the wire you are testing is ok the light will not light up , if it is bad the light because it is trying to carry the load for the bad wire will light up. The worse the wire the brighter the bulb will glow. I also prefer to use an ammeter to test alternator output because a voltmeter only tells you the state of the battery, not the actually condition of the alternator. an alternator can work 100 % but the battery my not be capable off taking it all. -
Weird Vibration
saddlebum replied to Flyinfool's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
mine did something like that and it was a faulty plug instead of the spark going from tip to tab it was jumping side ways to the body of the plug. I put in four new plugs vibration gone- 19 replies

That is Ironic because about three months ago I said pretty much the same thing to a bunch of kids in a grocery store with the same results from two of them. Guess the other three were still advertising.

Welcome to Ontario Just in Time for Summer Vacation THE RULES OF RURAL ONTARIO ARE AS FOLLOWS Listen up City Slickers! 1. Pull your droopy pants up. You look like an idiot. 2. Turn your cap straight, your head isn't crooked. 3. Let's get this straight; it's called a 'dirt road.' I drive a pickup truck because I want to. No matter how slow you drive, you're going to get dust on your Lexus. Drive it or get out of the way. 4. They are cattle. They're live steaks. That's why they smell funny to you. But they smell like money to us. Get over it. Don't like it? Hwy 7 & 401 goes east and west, Hwy 15 & 416 goes north and south. Pick one. 5. So you have a $60,000 car. We're impressed. We have $150,000 combines and hay balers that are driven only 3 weeks a year. 6. So every person in rural Ontario waves. It's called 'being friendly. Try to understand the concept. 7. If that cell phone rings while an 8-point buck and 3 does are coming in, we WILL shoot it out of your hand. You better hope you don't have it up to your ear at the time. 8. Yeah, we eat meat and potatoes. You really want sushi & caviar? It's available at the corner bait shop. 9. The 'Opener' refers to the first day of deer hunting season. It's a religious holiday held the closest Saturday to the first of November. 10. We open doors for women. That is applied to all women, regardless of age. 11. There's little for 'vegetarians' on the menu. Order steak. Or you can order the Chef's Salad and pick off the 2 pounds of ham & turkey. 12. When we set a table, there are three main dishes: meats, vegetables and breads. We use three spices: salt, pepper, and ketchup. 13. You bring 'coke' into my house, it better be brown, wet and served over ice. 14. You bring 'Mary Jane' into my house, she better be cute, know how to shoot, drive a truck, and have long hair. 15. Ontario Hockey League and Minor Hockey is as important here as the Maple Leafs and Montreal Habs, and more fun to watch. 16. Yeah, we have golf courses. But don't hit the water hazards -- it spooks the fish. 17. Colleges? We have them all over. We have Universities and Community Colleges. They come outta there with an education plus a love for God and country, and they still wave at everybody when they come for the holidays. 18. We have a whole ton of folks in the Armed Forces. So don't mess with us. If you do, you will get whipped by the best. 19. Turn down that blasted car stereo! That thumpity-thump crap ain't music, anyway. We don't want to hear it anymore than we want to see your boxers. (Refer back to #1). 20. TWO inches of snow & ice isn't a blizzard - it's a vacation. Drive like you got some sense in it, and DON'T take all our bread, milk, and bleach from the grocery stores. This ain't Alaska, worst case you may have to live a whole day without croissants. The pickups with snow blades and tractors with snow blowers will have you out the next day. A true Ontarian will send this on!!!

I download the avg free version have used it for 5 years and never had a problem. I also set my machine up with user rights and never use administrator other than when actually working on the machine itself. Wether coinisdance or not I am not sure but I have had no problems since. I also was not happy with norton when i tried it.

Its been my experience you loose more air with a srew on type because from the time it starts to open the valve core to the time when you get it screwwd on far enough to seal and then again taking it off you can loose a lot of air unless you have super fast fingers.

Took my wheels into Zednos Friday. Al at Zednos with no hesitation at all replaced them at no charge Even gave me the option to choose from different brands, at which point I opted to go back to the Dunlop 491 elite II which was what I originaly had and was very pleased with. This is not the first time I have dealt with Zednos and I have always received excellent treatment from them. P/S apparantly Dunlop got a lot of complaints from the goldwing people when they stopped producing the 491 elite II and so are again producing them. Today I went on a 7 hour ride and to be quite honest I am glad to be back on the dunlop 491 elite II the bike feels more stable at highway speeds than they did with the venoms and they feel a lot less greasy in the turns. All in all I just feel more confident on the elite II

The same companey also makes these kits which do not require tire removal, I have the larger kit at the shop but carry the smaller kit with me. Although I prefer the kit Monty posted the kits I have are extremely reliable I have plugged hundreds of tires with them over the years and never had one fail. the sales rep I get my stock from had 250 in the side wall of his front tires just for demo purposes. And everyone knows you realy should not plug a side wall but he actually wore out those tires without a failure. BEWARE !! not all plug kits are equal but, Tech makes an extremely reliable product.

judging from the fact that most of your tire wear is down the middle i would have to say your tire preasure is too high.
