Dunlop elite II is my choice tried the Avons didn't like them went back to the Dunlop elite II. they may ride a little harder than the avons but they feel much more secure speacially in the turns.

The thing to watch is you don't just get used to the high rpm's you get to crave them before you know it your in 3rd gear well over the speed limit without realizing it.

F4Customs Windshield
saddlebum replied to Freebird's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
try using micro fiber cloth instead of stealwool to clean your reading glasses:bang head::rotfl::rotfl: -
Did you have the tire at max preasure for the tire? the 908lb rating is at the tires max air preasure not the preasure the bike asks for.

Any tips for cutting into helmet to fit speakers
saddlebum replied to dogman's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
Last time I saw you, you had the same helmet as mine with the movable jaw. All the inside material are held in with velcro and snaps, it all just snaps out in three pieces. You peel back the retaining tape on the back side of the ear pieces, trim the foam and leave the cloth intact. it will look clean and the speakers are hidden behind the material, which wont fray now because you didn,t have to cut it. -
Mirror/turn signal question.
saddlebum replied to pagenutt's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Personally I do not like signals in the mirrors ,on bike, car or truck. I find that at night its hard to see anything in the mirrors (flat or convex ) when you have a signal flashing in your face, I find it very distracting and obstructing . Garaunteed I wiil never put them on anything I own. -
You know what? Your Right I did :bang head: as far as who is better looking I don't think I will touch that one

I wonder if that is were I was getting the burning rubber smell from When we were coming back from MD because I didn't get it on the way down or anytime after, only got that smell when i was following you and never again after that. I was thinking later that maybe your trailer tires were scrubbing and bits were hitting and landing on my exhaust pipe, but maybe it was pieces coming of your Metzlers. Just a thought. Looking at your pictures it looks like tire srubbing I've seen that many times on transport trucks when the tandems arn't aligned properly, causing tire scrubbing. I am thinking your trailer may be the cause of this.Possibly its tires are toeing in or out or may not be true to your hitch center.

The carb tune comes with various adaptors to accomadate different makes and brands of engines. they are used for more than just motorcycles as well. In europe a lot of cars also need there carbs synced. the tubes will most likly fit the venture without use of the adaptors, in other words pull the caps off and slip the hoses on.

Glad all went well Bob. friend of mine had it done and he said before long he could blast the porclian off the toilet bowl.

I would rather have a cheap bike and ride than an expensive bike and not ride. i would put 20,000 miles a year on an old 400 kawi I had about 25 years ago at the same time my buddy had a gold wing and I would be suprised if he even put 20 miles a year on it. he didn't like the way the wind buffed his head when he rode but at least he could tell everyone he owned a gold wing. In the mean time he mocked my little kawi said it wasn't a real bike. But I rode He didn't:bang head:

clutch friction zone
saddlebum replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Clutch fluid as does brake fluid absorbs moisture over time. As this occures the fluid gets darker. Also though I have seen this occur rarely some people think brake fluid hydraulic fluid and trans mission fluid are the same thing, and will sometimes substitute one for the other. This is defifnitly a NO NO. Any fluid that is petrolium based will ruin (usually swell ) the rubber parts in the system. another thing that will darken the fluid is the natural wear of internal compnents in the system not usually something to worry about just change the fluid. -
clutch friction zone
saddlebum replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The easist way I know of getting a feel for the friction zone and (and I use this when teaching people to drive standard caras as well ) is with the vehicle parked, in gear and brakes applied slowily let the clutch out until you feel the engine rpm drop or the engine about to stall then pull the clutch back in ( with a car push it back down) Do this over and over again and each time try to do it a little quicker. After awhile your mind and hand just seem to instinctivly know were to expect this transition to take place, and you dont even have to think about it. -
What do these plugs say
saddlebum replied to BuddyRich's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
A little rich on the fuel but not too bad for a bike, check the condition of your air cleaner. Also that insulator is very white indicating that the plug itself may be just a little too hot try going down one heat range on the plug. the perfect colour of the insulator should be a light to medium tan. Use extreme caution on the water trick. Yes it does clean the carbon, but on a badly carboned engine it some times frees it up in chunks which in extreme cases can do valve damage. Sometime its safer to use one of the commercial cleaners because they soften the carbon up, rather than just kind of blast it of in pieces. -
How is the TOP of your HELMET I am sure Marca must have been doing a drum roll with her fists right about then:rotfl::rotfl:

Glad your Ok must be the weather . I had a car in the third lane but behind me want the ramp on the right . I nstead of lowing down and cutting across behind me to get over for which he had lots of room he had to speed up pass me and cut across right in front of me squeezing between me and the car in front of me as well as force me over to give him room. Wish I had the truck instead of the bike at that moment.

Yes good luck Bob may the force be with you
