Sorry goose your wrong on this one on a relay with 87a and 87 pins pin 30 supplys power to 87a when the relay is not powered up or say switched off. and pin 30 supplys power to 87 when the relay is switched on so in other words you can switch back and forth between 2 devices such as fog lights and road lights simply by switching the relay off or on. when you switch your high beams off it cuts the control power to the relay there by diverting the power at pin 30 from you road lights (connected to pin 87) to your fog lights ( connected at pin 87a) if you look at the sketch eliminate the switch in the first drawing and simply connect a wire from pin 85 to your high beam wire as your high beam is switched off and on the relay switches back and forth between your fog light and road light. But with this type of set up you also have to add a second relay to turn the power to pin 30 off and on with the ignition switch. Otherwise without it when you switch the bike off your fog lights will stay on or if on high beam at the time it will switch to fog lights when you turn off the ignition and again the fog lights will stay on or use the alternative variation of using one relay for the fog lights with pin 85 connected to your low beam , and one relay for your road lights with pin 85 connected to your high beam and ignore pin 87a if your relays have it. One word of cautian make sure you do not use what is called a latching relay this type of relay turns on with a simple push button but stays on until the main power is turned off. You have had all kinds of good info here so I will keep this food for thought short. Most allternators are capable of produceing extremely high voltages, I have seen car alternators produce up to 110 volts. The regulator is what keeps this in check. however if for one reason or another. either a bad wire, or faulty regulator. the regulator cannot determine battery condition or system voltage, the alternator will continue to produce excessively high voltage. This tends to blow bulbs and cause battery,s to boil destroying them. Before jumpinng the gun and thinking that a new battery is going to fix your problem check out your charging system after you install the new battery or you may end up destroying another battery (this is assuming that the battery itself is not the cause which it still may be).The fact that you were getting strange noise on you radio I would suspect bad diodes in the regulator.So check it carefully and make sure all your grounds are secure clean and sound.

(BTW check the amp rating on the relays they come in various sizes, you can't go too big but you can go too small). Now pins 85 and 86 are your control inputs 18 gauge wire is fine here as the load is small. ground one (does not matter which one) and supply 12 volts to the the other either from a switch or from the headlight hot wire so it switches on and off with your headlight..If you connect 85 to your head light feed instead of a switch, and instead of running 86 directly to ground, put a switch in the ground wire, you can overide the light if for some reason you decide you only want the headlight on by itself. The nice thing about tapping into your headlight wire is if you had say road lights and you want them only to come on with your high beam you tap one of the control wires into your high beam wire and the lights will go off and on with your high beam. If you have fog lights and road lights on your bike use the relay with the extra pin 87a. connect your road lights to 87 , your fog lights to 87a . 85 to ground and 86 to your high beam. this way your road lights come on when you switch to high beam and your fog lights come on when you switch to low beam automaticlly.But with this type of set up you also have to add a second relay to turn the power to pin 30 off and on with the ignition switch. Otherwise without it when you switch the bike off your fog lights will stay on or if on high beam at the time it will switch to fog lights when you turn off the ignition and again the fog lights will stay on. Another variation is to use 2 relays connect 86 from one relay to your high beam wire,and 87 to your road lights. Connect 86 from the other relay to your low beam wire, and your fog lights to 87 of this relay (notice 87a is not used at all here). Now jumper the two 85 terminals together and connect to a switch ground the other terminal of the switch. Road lights now come on with your high beams, fog lights switch on with your low beams. If you want to overide and turn of your additional lights just flip the one switch.

Another trick is to pack the tap with thick grease the shavings stick to the grease on the tap, then if need be just stick the straw of a can of brake clean right to the bottom of the hole and flush it out. -
My friend in the Hospital.This is the one who went down in april and was in a coma, [ame=http://venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=34735]another biker down - VentureRider.Org[/ame] . He is now up and walking around without any assistance or aids. He is still in the brain trauma ward were every thing is dull and depressing, with locked doors and fenced in yards. He seem to think he is in prison and can,t understand what it is he did that got him there. His mother warned me that he may or may not know me but when I walked in and the orderly asked if he knew me, He said yes right away and told him my were I worked and what I did for a living. I spent 2 hours with him and other than him thinking he was in prison and does not remember the accident at all he for all intents seeemed to be 90% of his normal self. His spirits were high and we joked and laughed all the while. The only thing that never came up was motorcycle talk, and this guy lived and breathed motorcycles his whole life. The best part is that his progress continues to exceed the doctors expectations.

I hung mine on one of my helmet holders, maybe thats why I leave bigger pot holes behind me ( bigger drop bigger pot hole) besides if my bell is going to start dropping gremlins is it not better to drop them behind you then in front of your rear wheel:big-grin-emoticon:

Keenserts are great because the are solid , on the other hand helli coils offer extra long coils for more and deeper threads. Used them both love them both. used the fast thread repair chemical products too but they can be hit or miss. -
I AM A FIRM BELIEVER THAT FILLING OUT PAPERWORK PROVES NOTHING ITS JUST AN INOVATION CREATED BY OVER-EDUCATED YUPPI IDIOTS. (ITS A KNOWN FACT YOU CAN'T EDUCATE COMMON SENSE). I ALSO BELIEVE THAT BIG COMPANY'S WHO CAN ABSORB THESE COST'S ARE BEHIND A LOT OF IT IN ORDER TO CRIPPLE THE LITTLE INDEPENDENT GUY, JUST LIKE THE MILK, EGG AND BEEF BOARDS DID TO THE SMALL FAMILY FARMS.:bang head::bang head:

After my bike was in an accident I checked my alignment as follows I stood the bike up on its center stand with a thin wooden tapered shim under each leg using an accurate level on the rear wheel i adjusted the shims under the centerstand until the rear wheel was dead plumb (check from both side of the wheel for accuracy) Run a string line around the back of the rear tire up along both sides pulled tite and make sure it only just lightly touches or brushes against the front of the rear wheel (you can also use two straight edges one on each side or two laser pointers) Set the front wheel straight ahead it should be dead center between the two striaght lines coming from the back wheel using the level check to see if it is verticaly plumb to the rear wheel. this may be somewhat crude but it works just take your time In my opinion (and I could be wrong) if both wheels are not blumb to each other the rear wheel will once spinning under power will want to become dead vertical. the front wheel if not verticaly true to the rear wheel will lean and whichever way the top of the wheel leans is the way the bike will want to pull or steer itself. as mentioned earlier the cone effect takes control.

It may be a product I am not familiar with but in 40 years I have never seen blue brake fluid. Its usually relatively clear or light amber. JUst to be safe I would want to make sure it is brake fluid. If it is something with a petrolium base to it it will swell the rubbers and you would definitly have binding brakes. -
My 89 is pretty much the same and I even replaced all my bearings in the wheels and diff. Not for that reason I just did it because the bike was all apaart at the time and it just seemed like a good idea at the time.

pulling the callipers off is easy. Once off just push the pistons back and see how hard it is to do so. its possible the pistons are binding and not retracting as far as they should when the brakes are applied and released. You may need to consider flushing your brake fluid with some new stuff. -

If I ever need some one to write a statment for me, you would be my 1st pick. I could feel every word you wrote and with each passage got angrier. You hit every nail on the head and I understand exactly what your going through as a very close friend of mine went through the same ordeal when it happend to her little girl. I am glad you got through this and hope the road ahead is a very happy one for your little girl and her loving familly.
