Well I Had a great day riding myself trying to catch you guys somewhere along the trail. I will have to watch Mantracker more often and pick up some tracking tips. I did finally cornor the guys at the Pioneer BBQ and finished of an interesting day with a bunch of nice people some old faces and some new ( It was such a good day I didn't even mind that Carl was ther too:rotfl:) I was glad However That Big Tom was not with me. I realy not sure how would have been able to deal with a large man crying. The pic's should explain. This is or was Chapmans icecream factory the building was 125 years old and this week it burnt down. when I stopped and took these pic's smoke was still coming from the ashes.

While out riding yesterday, a guy aproached me and asked if I would be interested in a 2003 midnight venture royal star With 13,000km on it. I think he said he would like 12,000 CDN for it but I am not 100% sure. In any case I told him I would post it on our web site. I also gave him my e-mail address so he could send me some pics. His reason for parting with it is that he went back to a sport bike, that the venture was just too tame for him ( he should have got a 1st gen). His name is RON his contact info is op_eng@hotmail.com and his phone number is 519-377-2734

Major electrical malfunction...at home
saddlebum replied to Venturous Randy's topic in Watering Hole
Those aluminum buss bars often used in panels are bad for that. I have seen it happen more than once. Often if the location where the box is it is damp. over the years this dampness create oxidation often at the connections to the bar. As the oxidation increases so does the resistance in the connection to the buss bar. As we all know resistance causes heat ( which by the way can also be caused by loose or poor connections) and in these types of breaker panels (or fuse panels that still exist) this heat gets hot enough to melt the aluminum buss bar. Replace the panel with a new one and don't try to save money here get a good quality panel. Also if it is mounted to a concrete wall mount it on a platform spaced off the wall with a vapour barrier between the wall and the mounting platform.- 9 replies

I some times use one of those workplace wrap around back supports when my back bothers me and it works great for me, and since it is wrap around it acts as a kidney belt as well. Get the one with the open mesh so you don't overheat.

Hi Reiny I'll take all that stuff off your hands (providing it hasn't already been spoken for). Never know when it might come in handy. I,ll either use it for my own bike or store it in case someone else ever needs it, in which case i would not charge them for it either ( it would be a shame to toss it). I am off all week as well but will only be around home untill thusday, so I can just ride up and get the stuff any agreed upon day. just pm me your address. Even later on today if thats conveinent.

Might make it yet. Seems my departure for Highland IL ( which is close to St Louis) may be delayed a few days. If so I may just be able to sneak in one more ride before I head off for the midwest

Government will continue to rip off hard working middle class Canadians until one day we all smarten up band together as one group (instead of a bunch of small individual speacial interest groups) and force our governments to realize they are supposed to work for us not the other way around. Trudeau was a smart man, he new when he introduced multiculterisam he was dividing the country into a lot of small crybaby groups instead of one large forceful group. thus you feed the small speacial interest groups a bit of candy and they don't rock the boat so much. We need to get back to being one body one voice and stop government arrogance and greed.

Imagine a 1st gen with that engine on it:bikersmilie:

I had just taken my 89 out for its first real ride and came across a nice couple from london who had an 84 if I remember correctly. In any case we talked for a bit and then they suggested I check it out. and here I am all you lucky people.

A little cardboard and a blond flare had absoooolutly nothing to do with it uh????:think: -
It still would not hurt to do the odd oil analysis once every so many years on the motor bike just to check for wear metals but if and when you do do it you should do 2 in a row so they can see if there is an increase of wear metals occuring. JUst don't get carried away and spend a fortune on it, its only an indicator. As far as oil life is concerned as mentioned earlier its not cost effective in that regard for a motor bike.

Hey you finally caught on:banana: I am going to leave this one alone:mo money:
-
Charlie if thats the result of you riding it you definitly need to loose some more weight. NO MORE ICE CREAM FOR YOU:no-no-no::no-no-no:
-
I agree, I used oil analysis on truck fleets, the main purpose here was to catch things like coolant or diesil in the oil and sudden abnormal increase of wear metals, in order to catch possible defects before they became truely major defects. They do however also indicate an estimate of how many more miles/KM they feel the oil could have gone before changing it.

I would love to read it as well. however I am not sure we should be posting our address's so openly for all the world to see. Might I suggest we do like we did with ride like a pro, by maintaining a list of names and the person who has it simply PM's the next person on the list for their mailing address.

Anybody in Ontario maybe even other parts of Canada have any experience with Jevco, Riders Plus or Primmum so far they seem to come up with the lowest rates that I have been able to find so far.
-
Finally heard from my broker who supposedly can't do anything about the rates. Asked her if they had death insurance since my wife will likly kill me if I pay all that money just to ride a motorcycle . Her answer was that the rates are going up because there are so maney biker deaths. Interesting, cagers don't get charged for killing bikers and on top of that we get to pay for their ignorance. By the way Ontario is not Government run insurance it is still private. As far as health care goes they cut out covering eye exams and vision care, but they will cover a sex change. Only in Canada you say!

Ok so I get on the phone with kingsway this morning. The woman I spoke to assure's me that I have the highest possible rating with all the available discounts, it's just because in may they had a rate increase (this is were Gomer Pyle probably would have said SURPRISE, SURPRISE , SURPRISE). I have not heard back from my broker yet either. I did an online check and Primmum was 729. and Riders plus was 621. I informed of this but that did not seem to stir anything, almost like they want to get out of the Motorcycle Insurance bussiness.
