My Father, who is 86 years old, had surgery this past Monday to repair an Abdominal aortic aneurysm, 6.6 cm in dia... While they were in repairing the aneurysm, they found He also had a twisted bowel which they corrected as well. The first three days after surgery he seemed to be recovering very well. But by the forth day he started halucinating and is now totally delerious. As well his abdomin is starting to look very bloted and the nurses are hinting at the possibility of a post surgery infection. He is not sleeping, and and is having constant conversations with people from his past who are no longer with us. My father went through two wars.one being WWII were as a youth he was in and out of prison camps having escaped twice and later helped with the dutch underground and red cross units. After that he joined the dutch Marines and spent two years in jungle warefare in Indonesia, were he led a small demolition and tactical assault team. The events of those years is were he seems to revert to the most were he dwells on lost friends and team members. Or relives the horrors he has Gone through or witnessed. Needless to say we are very worried and hope He pulls out of this well and healthy, and I am asking for prayers on his behalf.

On most rough or disturbed soil and also on maney lawns you may find a low growing broad leafed plant called plantian. The seed pods grow about 3-6" tall and skinney. If you take the leaves from this plant pulverize it and then spred it on the poison ivy it will also stop the itch. Also works great on insect bites and bee stings. By the way I have been told the seed pods are rich in vitamin B and if you snack on a couple it makes your blood undesirable to mesquitos. This second part I have not tried yet so i can't say for sure if it works or not

it is acid filled but they use an Activated Glass Matt instead of the zinc and lead plates. It just uses much less acid and the battery can actually be mounted in any position, even upside down.

Major Plastic Work
saddlebum replied to elmicko's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I found with plastex the best way to deal with cracks is to use a 1/8" dremel type rotory cutter. You plunge right through then chase the crack right to the other end leaving a 1/8" slot. put packaging tape on one side and then fill the slot from the back side and last reinforce with some fiberglass or fiber type drywall tape. Peel of the tape from the other side and touch up any low spots with more plastex then sand smooth with 300 or more grit sand paper. 1/2 hour or less the crack is repaired. A bit of packaging tape folded over your finger makes your finger a great smoothing tool to smoth it out when it gets to the jelly stage before it hardens. -

Don't Try this Kiddies. Not nice Border Guards.

Human nature being what it is I would not be surprised that there are those individuals that would give a leo extra respect and and be less hard on them. At the same time it would not surprise me that there would also be those individuals that would se the position of authority as a means to give a leo a hard time just because they can. As well even the best natured of border gaurds can have a bad day. the gaurd may have unwittingly asked a silly question, as we all sometimes do. and the pompus guy in the car ( because in my mind he was, we have all met guys like him, and you just feel like you want to clock them one) could have just simply answered with a reasnoble reply, instead of getting cocky. But lets also be a little fair here, When you have a terrorist cross any border of any country that cause major damage such as 9/11 who is the first person a finger gets pointed at for letting him through. they can't possibly strip search every person who crosses nor can they let every individual pass 100% freely across, so in maney way's there job is a crap shoot becuase after all anybody can pretend to be someone else. And terrorists are not the only issue. Look at the illegal guns for street gangs and billions of dollars of drugs that slip through every day. or worse kidnapped children. -
Major Plastic Work

You will be surprised at how far plastex will actually stretch. I repaired all my panels and even pieced pieces together with plastex, after the accident. I also used it to recreate, missing and broken tabs. all my cracks were reinforced with plastex and fiberclass cloth (fiberglass drywall tape works well too). You also do not need additional bodyfill or spot putty, as the stuff smooths out nicely and finish sands to perfection. The cracks and joints were done with black while the tabs were done with clear. If possible stick with the black I am told it is the srongest. -
Not all running lights draw the same amount of power. It is important to know what wattage the lights are as the higher the wattage the more power they draw thus making it harder for your alternator to keep up. You may need to replace the bulbs with a slightly lower wattage bulb. Also relay's do not lower the amount of currant a light draws they simply aid in giving the lights an independent power supply which can be controlled by a comon switch or power source.

Sadly I have to agree as the saying goes. Governments and Big bussness create and thrive on war. Young men are forced to fight them and inocent women and children suffer them. -

I cross the border very frequently, largely because my wifes family is in the US. for the most part I have not had any issues going across the border in either direction. I have had on occasion come across the odd one tha has had a less than desirable atitude from both the Canadian or American side, but in most case's if you show them a little respect and answer their questions honestly without being smart mouthed about it you usually do not have an issue. Granted there is always the occasionaly individuale wether it be border guard, police officer, security guard or even a bouncer in a bar that thinks he is of superior stuff while you are just a measly peon. You swallow your pride let him have his day and move on. In this case, guard could have been delibratly asking infuriating questions just to see how the guy would react. Personaly I don't agree with the border gaurds line of questioning or attitude either but it was pretty obvious that the driver in the car was pretty cocky and had a lousy attitude as well. -

You left out the smell of exhaust in your beard even hours after getting off the bike From sittng at traffic lights.... not some ill concieved idea that its from following a secnd gen . . . as if that could ever happen -
Yes that was the one. Thanks free bird. Oh and by the way for those who are not aware, the pinout for the gold wing is the same, so if you cannot find a head set that say's it is for a venture, buy a headset for a gold wing, it plugs right in and works on the Venture as well.

Ok here it is plain and simple, there should be no water in the diff. If it is milky like a cup of mocha or even lighter like a capacino there is too much water in it and it will distroy your bearings and may even cause cavitation on other internal parts. Water gets in one of two ways 1) it leaks in from an external source through bad seals and gaskets. or 2) it is an accumulation of condesation, this is usually the result of a plugged or restrited breather. Condesation is the result of moisture laden air making its way into the diff past the seals. it is drawn in by vacume created as the diff oil cools down. because a seal, seals in one direction only this moistures only escape route is to exit via the vent, but if it is plugged or restricted the moisture cannot escape and builds up each time more enters each time the diff oil cools down. Eventually the oil becomes milky from too much water . Number -1- change your oil ASAP. -2- remove the breather and check that it breaths freely by blowing through, if not clean or replace it. -3- after changing your oil clean the outside and closly observe for any leaks (if water can leak in due to bad seals, than oil may also be able to leak out. Just an interesting point here one of our customers with a large fleet of 18 wheelers had the same problem in there diffs and we found the issue to be undersized vents used in the differentials. Once we upgraded them to larger vents the problem was eliminated

Hair Question for the Ladies
saddlebum replied to GolfVenture's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Here is an article I found while looking into this for my wife. Helmet Hair Guest Author - Nancy Brotherton There is nothing sexier than a man or woman with long beautiful hair cascading down their necks and back. Commercials of a sexy female pulling off her helmet and shaking out her glorious hair may be alluring, but in reality that is seldom the case. In fact, if she was riding for a significant time in that commercial, her hair would usually be somewhat flat, maybe frizzy, and most certainly tangled. Riding a motorcycle poses specific problems for those of us with longer hair. To begin with, if you don’t somehow contain your locks, they will blow all over, in your face, eyes, and mouth and whip around you like snakes. When you get done with your ride you may feel like a Medusa, with tightly coiled serpents hanging off your head and that is just the hair that is outside the helmet. The crown of your head is usually matted down, sweaty, and dull. If you are not wearing a helmet, good luck with combing out that mess. There are several ways to prevent some of the hair riding issues and also some good methods to recover. One preventive measure you can take is to use a product like “BioSilk Silk Therapy System” which contains silicone. It coats your hair, so that when you brush it out, the tangles fall out easily without breakage or pain and it also protects against UV rays and moisture. I use this and my hair is always smooth, shiny, and easy to comb. You should always wear a bandana or lid cover on your head when wearing a helmet. This will wick away the moisture and keep you from getting your hair caught in your helmet. Be careful when selecting a cover because if they have seams or raised areas on them, they can press against your forehead and give you a crushing headache. You want them to be smooth and thin. There are many ways to draw your hair back in a low hanging ponytail and for even added tangle protection, braid your hair and wear a cloth or leather cover on your braid. The one I use is called the hair glove, a little pricey but worth every penny and mine has lasted for four years and showing no wear. You can also use several coated rubber bands and secure them along your ponytail to prevent flapping and tangles, these work just as well but are awkward taking out later and can cause hair breakage. Always keep a wide tooth comb and vented airbrush available to smooth out the locks when you get to your destination so that you are always looking your riding best. -
Why would you use dual CB antennas on a motorcycle? To gain any benifit from dual antennas they need to be 204 inches apart. I know they are used on trucks but they are at least 102 inches apart and because of the long narrow body mass of the rig they tend to develop a linear signal pattern which for a truck is not a bad thing. Antennas too close together can actually cancel each other out. Also when adjusting dual antennas you need to replace one antenna with a dummy load while adjusting the opposite one. the dummy load is a resister wich acts as a fake perfectly tuned antenna. Alternativly you can adjust both antennas together but you must make identical adjustments. If all you want is the dual antenna look simply make one antenna functional and let the other one just be a dummy, in the end you will have a better signal this way.
