  1. Actually if you look closer you will see they are of both types two open when you squeeze the handles for external lock rings and two close when you squeeze the handles for internal lock rings, it is in the way the pivot is designed. If you look closly you will see how the handlse of the one pair crossover at the pivot, while the handles of the other set do not, they remain parrellel acting on the same principal as tetter totter. The problem I have always found with the interchangable type is A) because the tips ar often offset they do not hold the ring as well and B) they do not reach into deep bores as well. and C) if the snap ring is of a very rigged nature the interchangable tips often just rotate in the tool if you try to use the offset tips.
  2. I mostly do the same on one occasion many years ago while riding with a friend I stayed over to the left track of the left lane so my riding partner could take the right track. Next thing I knew a cager passed the vehicle in the right lane by driving between me and the other vehicle, almost putting me in the gaurd rail. A lesson well learned and never forgotten.
  3. I have always prefered a set of single purpose snap ring oliers over the multipurpose type. they are inexpensive, strong, slim enough to fit into most tight places and come in a variety of sizes and angle both for inside or outside snap rings. check this link to a sample of some http://www.princessauto.com/workshop/hand-tools/clamping-gripping-tools/snap/lock-ring-pliers/8007364-4-pc-7-snap-ring-pliers-set The tips are tapered so to fit the snapring hole exactly for larger snap rings I simply grind the ends back until the tip fits. A perfect fit allows the pliers to hold the ring better so you don't have to listen to it fly across the room.

  8. What did you take them off for ? up here anything over 1/32 of an inch on a bonded lining (1/64 over the rivet on a riveted lining), still passes a ministry safe vehicle inspection. I too had the squealing on mine so bad that they became unsafe so I put a coating of permatex brake quiet on them and put them back on. Why unsafe , do you ask. The niose was so irratating that I became dangerously gentle on applying the brakes, just to avoid the noise.
  9. We use a product at work for removeing smoke damage from truck interiors after interior fire damage that works real well. But, i will have to post the name of it Monday night as I don't remember what it is called. The only thing I remember from when our cleanup guy used it, was that it was developed for this sort of thing and that it was citrus based. It worked great and when the interior of the truck was back together there was no hint of a smell at all.
  10. It may not be fair but what is even less fair is that you had to send itr our way ......and I know it was you because it came from the east.

  14. my latest aquisition is the Eureka Spitfire duo http://www.eurekatentscanada.com/products/view/11 . I Got caught in a rainstorm so bad once that I ended up with so much water under the floor that it felt like a water bed, yet no water got into the tent. this tent backs up very small and packs nicely on the motorcycle. It will sleep two people comfortably. Set up is as simple as you can get and it stands up to some real severe winds. If you want there is a smaller version called the sitfire solo as well http://www.eurekatentscanada.com/products/tents/solo

  22. Steve I have 5 kids and still I cannot imagine the fear and worry, you must have gone through or the joy you must feel now, that she is found. Myself I am overcome with joy for you, just as if she was one of my own. May whatever lies ahead be an easy road to travel and I hope you never have to go through this again.
  23. And yet sadly our sociaty will not change. The greedy will get greeder, the struggling will struggle harder and the poor will get poorer while north american governments slowly errode our rights and freedoms as we watch. Continuely taxing the working class into oblivian, while giving handouts to the wealthy.
