De-linking brakes idea for 83
saddlebum replied to dingy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Ok just to throw a twist into the frackus. If the proportionaing valve supplies 70% to the front brakes and 30% to the rear brakes, why not just switch the lines ? Would this not give a sort of compromise without completely delinking the entire system? It would seem to me that doing this would have a similiar affect to delinking while still maintaing some slow down effect without lock up from the front wheel. I one time came over the top of a sharp rise to be suddenly confronted with a stop sign and got caught braking short on some loose sand on top of ashphalt. Even though I was only using the foot brake, I had a hard time slowing down without the front wheel locking up and trying to slide sideways on me. In the end I just looked left and right and gunned through the intersection hopeing nothing was coming through the other way. P/S I admit I was probably going a little too fast at the time. -
They look sharp and I sure can appreciate the safty factor. I am not sure however I would like having those in mirror signals, flashing in my face while riding, speacially at night.

I am good with that. Kind of like the Idea actually. And looking at the map I think Carl could probably intersect us any number of places along the way if he so wishes.
-
Yes it was a great ride and it was well worth letting Carl (who we all know never talks at all) take the reins and lead the way, and we we even survived, all two of us. It is amazing what you can see close to home if you take the time too look. I took a couple pics I will post later.

See I am not like that I am more far ...one for you one for me.....two for you... one, two for me.....three for you...one, two three for me .....now doesn't that sound more fair

verry sad day for me
saddlebum replied to oldgoat's topic in Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc.
That is very sad news indeed .. prayers sent and may she look down upon all with a smile -
Ok, so my wife has been experimenting with baking. She has some how come by a reciepe for a cheese cake that is great ( sorry none left). Now I am not saying it is going to give Lonna a run for her money, but it sure does a fine job of easing the pain of having to loose all those yummy cheese cakes to them there Texans

I agree with the Idea of posing as a women and meeting the SOB. Of course there is a down side. I don't know what you would do if after meeting you the SOB fell head over heals in love with you.

That sucks I think you should MOOOOOSE Them

Saturday is for sure with early start. I am still working on Monday for a second ride. There is a glimmer that if I play this right Marita may just be up for a ride Monday. Which of course means I get to ride again.

Ok! 1st I have friday off so I am all set for an early start and a good long run Saturday. 2nd from the sounds of things my expectations are a little high and Algonquin parks leaf colour ship has sailed. 3rd Sounds like Marcarls route is a viable compromise. Unless someone has a better route. So who is in?.

Playing around with maps This is sort of what I came up with. It seems interesting enough but I haven't been up these roads in years, therefore I am still open to suggestions. I prefer to avoid using the 400 series hwy's unless I have to. Largely because for me they tend to make me think of work too much. crazy as it may sound. The only thing that has become a definite came about with my wifes kind assistance "IF YOUR GONNA BE GONE ALL DAY IT BETTER BE SAT". She works saturday's. sunday is big familly dinner. Mon is, well what can I say she wants us to spend time together. Which if I am lucky could include another ride but it would be a shorter one. Oh and I beleive I my have managed to get friday off so I can get up early saturday.

Evan! Check out this thread http://venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=60487 would love any input you may have.

My heart is still set on doing the Muskoka ride on Sat ( and I suspect the boss may suddenly come up with other plans since it will be her day off). I am afraid If I leave it until Monday something might come up and I would end up missing the boat altogether and going by what Evan just reported the leaves are dropping fast up that way. So anyone interested could either meet up at my place or somewhere on route. I am currantly not sure of which is the best route but I plan on avoiding major highways if possible and try to grab the more scenic route. As far as that goes suggested routes are more than welcome, Since it has been many years since I have been up that way.

If you put the voltmeter directly on the battery and it drops to 8.5 volts then you have one of two possible issues either the battery is weak or the starter is drawing heavy as in bad starter. load test the battery if it passes a load test the starter is at fault if it fails the battery is at fault. If however the engine barely cranks over and the voltage hardly drops at all then you need to check your wiring for bad, loose or dirty connections.
